What's with these kids?

What's with these kids? The pack shifts but we can always count on mom & dad to be there. The family seems settled now. Mom's motto, "Always room for one more" may be tested should another rescue come about. But I think that this half-dozen may be the limit for a while. Between the vet bills, food & pooh, mom & dad are maxed. We long for nothing. The bowls are always full of good stuff to eat, treats are at the ready, always a soft bed and we all travel in style together.

Family is good and I have two new younger siblings that test my patience but are learning. Jack is somewhat retired and it's falling to me to be the example. I am going to make mom & dad very proud.

Not the baby any more

I've been elevated up the chain of command with the addition of the new kid - Kate. She's got my markings and Jack's hair length. And darn it if she isn't related.

Being the baby has been my job for four years. I will hand over the job however reluctantly. Now I'm the BIG sister. Kate's a good kid; I'll take good care of her.

Good morning everyone. It's my birthday. I'm three today.

We celebrated my birthday yesterday with a run with dad. There were turkey treats for us all for dinner. This morning I got an extra muffin! They are my favorites. Mom snuck it into my bowl while no one was looking. I even got a dab of whipped cream on it. YUMMY! I love birthdays.

OMG! Am I looking in a mirror or is that Mini-me?

Burli came to stay with us last week and it's been a blast! I give Jack a run for his money and have energy to burn. This new pup is keeping up & then some! And she's a beauty, isn't she? :)

The backyard has become a racetrack and we three are running with dad at the river and going in the truck with mom all the time. It's just go, go, go. Who knew that adding to the pack would be so much fun but it is.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Fall 2011

Jack & I “helped” mom & dad rake leaves yesterday. I think that we got the better end of the deal. It’s been an uneventful summer; little hot. We don’t feel much like running around when it’s hot but it’s not now. We’re having a great time with the cooler weather. Winter is just minutes away & we can play in the snow.

It would be hard to improve on our beautiful kennel house but dad did. We have more room to play, rest and relax. Next spring, it will be even larger!

Mom & dad are talking about adding to the family. They are torn between how wonderful our family is and giving a rescued dog (or two) a fighting chance. I don’t know how I feel about that either; Jack & I are best buddies. Nothing will happen until spring anyway. Mom says that she doesn’t want to be trekking out in the snow every day to train a new dog. Jack was a summer puppy but mom was there with me every morning in the snow & the rain. She must really love us a lot. Life if good.

2011 came in cold but the house is warm & the family is health and happy. Dad asked me whether I want a little sister to play with. Jack's probably not too happy since I drive him absolutely crazy! Where he goes, I must go. It's so cool that mom & dad bought a conversion van so that the family can travel in complete comfort. We are planning a road trip in the spring.

I've grown to 80 pounds and have a big fluffy coat for winter. It's as big as I'm going to get but I'm still a good match for Jack at his 110 pounds.

Looking forward to the end of winter.

Next week is Jack's birthday. That means that I am 18 months old now - a big girl. Mom & dad went out for dinner & I didn't have to stay in my box, it's so much cooler inside too. It's a great box, but I'm too old for that kids stuff. So now Jack & me watch the place together. Heaven help anyone that steps into the house. Jack & I are a good team, however, I do believe that I pester him a little too much. I just get so excited about life and want to play and enjoy it. Jack's a bit mellower & enjoys chillin' by the big pool. I have a pool all my own; it's purple & I play in it when it gets hot. The family has been having a great time this week; I wonder what they cooked up for Jack's birthday!!

Happy Birthday to me!

I am a new year baby. On January 2, 2009 I was born with two other unexpected pups. By Valentine's day I had a new home and family. What a great year it's been!!

Each milestone has been documented here with the exception of the most recent. I was just spayed & after a little hiccup with the incision, I am feeling good as new.

The winter/Christmas snow storm dumped about 18 inches of the white stuff. Jack & I are enjoying it thoroughly!! We haven't stopped playing since it started falling. He's taught me well and I can keep up with him in a pinch.

This morning, the last Sunday of the year we are going for a walk down the road where we first walked. Mom's bringing her camera and making a full-circle collage of my first year as the youngest part of this family.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Home Sweet Home

Mom & dad spent a week putting together a larger, wonderfully insulated new home. Jack & I have a sweet house to spend the day outside. Mom hopes to build a deck in the next days for us to relax in the shade; totally awesome.

I am told that fall is the best season of the year. Jack & I are outside playing all the time now when we aren’t at the river. The leaves will start to change soon. It’s mom’s favorite time and I'm looking forward to it too.

WOW!! What a place! Labor day? You said it!! Mom & dad just put a deck & patio area on the new house. Mom went a little nuts and we also have plants, a mailbox and our very own bird feeder.

Do they love us or what? I love my family!!

Summer is finally here.

Almost seven months now and life is great. We have a wonderful family and I am daddy's little girl. He just thinks I am the cutest little thing - and of course, I am.

It's very hot here in the summer but I have my very own little pool to splash around in; it keeps me cool and makes mom giggle something silly. In the evening, mom, dad, Jack & I all pile into the pick-up & head down tot he river for a cool dip. Jack's a pro at this swimming thing and I have much to learn BUT, I swam out to dad all by myself yesterday. We have pictures & everything. He is very proud. I'm still not to sure about the big pool though because I can't tell where the bottom is so Jack & I hang out on the deck under our umbrella.

The family goes for lots of walks (or the occasional run) and we explore many new places. I caught sight of my first real black bear! It was huge and certainly nothing that I want to have anything to do with. All too exciting.

I can't wait until the fourth, what are fireworks anyway?
