Violet has been going to PT twice weekly for the last 3 weeks . She is walking correctly on the underwater treadmill with a little help balancing ...

She is becoming more comfortable with this now & made 16 mins , without rest today. Which was great ! She stays all day so they can work & rest her several time thru the day. She sleeps soundly when she gets home . Thanks for all the prayers ...keep rooting for her. I will try & get some video soon , now that she is getting more relaxed :o)

Violet is continuing to improve after her surgery . She gets stronger
every day. She is 'taking steps' with her rear legs now helping you
walk w/ her sling & she can hold her weight standing still, if you
balace her. She had another MRI on Feb 2nd. Dr Brofman is pleased with
her progress.

Violets pathology report can back & she has a 'ganglioglioma tumor'
This is an very, very rare tumor. There is no know treament for it. It
actually forms in the spinal cord & grows out. All the excess around
Violets cord has been removed. It does not spread.

She has been started on a drug trial of a Anti Cancer drug called
Nitrosylcobalamin (NO-Cbl)
a vitamin B12 based nitric oxide (NO) donor.

This drug is injected twice per day & works like a trozan horse .. to
seek out tumor cells & kill them . There are no known side effects &
results to date have been VERY promising.

We are very hopeful at this point Violet will be able to live a normal
or very close to normal life with the help of this new medication &
rehab. Her spirit & abilitly to heal are amazing

Violet had Surgery on Thurs.

It was very difficult , it took over 3 hours the unknown mass was attached to her spine in several places. We were given a less than 50% chance that she would be able to move. Her Dr was very discouraged when he saw the damage & offered to put her to sleep.

You don't have to be around Violet long to know she is a fighter. You don't have to hang around BRBR long to know odds can be overcome, and often are.

We don't give up easily, neither does Violet.

Violet was heavily sedated for 24 hours for pain control .. they allowed her to wake up slowly. But late Thurs even the night nurse said she moved he front legs , this was a good sign.

Fri Morning , They said she could feel her feet , still wasn't moving , but could feel.

But Sat morning .. the phone call from the Dr very different. While doing her PT she starting trying to kick back with her rear legs. She was trying to move. She was doing so well we brought her home that evening.

Violet continues to try , she is somewhat incontinet now ... which is frustrating for her , because she is housetrained, She is holding her bowls untill she gets outside.
We are changing her bedding pad & cleaning her constantly to keep her skin from becoming irritated, she has special memory foam beds to keep her comfortabe & reduce pressue on her spine.

She uses a sling & a harness so help support her weight. She does make some random movements with her rear legs & can hold her weight ..but not balance.

She is on several meds for pain. We have doing home PT 3-4 times per day.

For the next several weeks she isn't allowed aggressive PT. This is something she is desperately going to need soon.

Her total Vet bill was $1134.82 . This was an MRI and surgery. We paid only for lab work & meds. Her Dr. donated appox $3000 to $4000 in care. Did we mention Violet is special ?

We will need donations, to cover her bill & to get her the best care including PT we can. Violet gives 110% percent. My Family & the BRBR family are committed to giving this back to her.
