Thump, Thump, Thump, that's the sound Emmy's tail is making as she sits beside me while I type. She does not love the camera so I can never capture her true spirit in her pictures, she always comes across looking sad or serious which she most definitely is NOT. I am her foster mom and I can tell you that she is a very special girl. If you've read her other Petfinder updates you really know all you need to know about her. She will be all cleared of heartworms in the next 2 weeks and can be yours by Valentine's Day. She has some special requirements for her forever home like no small animals or small children. It has to be the perfect home or family for this sweet girl, she deserves nothing but the best! Do you have experience with dogs and feel comfortable handling a strong dog? Do you have a home with no small animals? Are your kids older? Do you have a nice fenced yard? Are you active and need a partner for your walks or runs? Do you need someone to remind you every day that you are the most important and wonderful person in the world? Do you need someone to snuggle with? Do you want a soft head to always be able to reach down and pet? Do you want tons of kisses every day? Do you want to come home to someone who loves you unconditionally and is always happy to see you? If so, then Emmy is your girl! I truly love her and will miss her terribly when she is adopted, but she deserves her own person or family. Fill out your application today and let Miss Emmy be your Valentine. I created a blog for her to tell her whole story and put up a few more pics of her, check it out at http://adoptemmy.blogspot.com/.
12-18-08 Merry Christmas everyone! I just wanted to give you an update on how well I am doing. I have been doing great with my heartworm treatment, and I go next week for my 2nd and 3rd shots. Then 4 weeks later once I get the all clear from my doctor, I will be ready to come live with you!!! If you find yourself falling in love with me now, you can go ahead and apply for me, sign on the dotted line and 'reserve' me. I am having such a wonderful time in my foster home, but I really really want a family or person of my own. I love everyone I meet, and would do ok with older kids or teenagers. It's not that I wouldn't like younger kids, I might just be a little too strong and energetic for them to handle. My foster mom calls me Exuberant Emmy (remember, my official name is Maura but I go by Emmy) and says I am the happiest, cuddliest foster dog she has ever had. My tail is always wagging. She says she swears I would walk over hot coals and broken glass if someone was waiting to pet me on the other side, and you know what...she's right! I get along great with the other big dogs here, the only time I get grouchy is if they stick their nose in my food bowl so as long as you feed us separately we are best buddies. I would love to have a playmate in my forever home, but if I would be your only dog that would be ok too as long as you promise to give me lots of attention and playtime. I don't love my crate, but if you give me some good toys in there I don't mind it too much. I still want to eat the cats here, and the small dogs next door (I just can't help it, I'm really sorry but I just can't...you know how you can't resist those Christmas cookies? Well, that's how I feel about small animals--I just can't help myself.) I have never shown one bit of aggression towards my foster parents, I just love them and follow them everywhere. I need a person or family who will keep up my training and make me be a good girl, who will take me on lots of jogs or walks, who will let me snuggle on the couch and hopefully in bed with them! I am not the kind of dog who can be turned loose in a dog park, or go on walks off-leash, but if you can get past that...I am a catch!! I am a rough and tumble goofy tomboy with a heart of gold and all the love in the world to give. I promise I will love you more than you could ever imagine, and I would love nothing more than to spend all my days by your side.

Hi everyone, my name is Maura but I like to be called by my nickname--Emmy. I am new to BRBR and was saved from the shelter just in the nick of time. My previous owners moved away and didn't want to take me with them. At first I was sad and scared, but once I got out of that shelter I realized how great it was to be rescued and my personality really started to show. I am 2 years old, and I am VERY playful. I like to play with other dogs my size, but I should never be around small dogs or cats when I'm not on a leash because I am not very nice to them, they look too much like my squeaky toys to me! But if you don't have any small dogs or cats, then please don't let that little fact about me scare you off because I am the sweetest girl you could ever meet. I love people, and want to be right by your side all the time. I am a great snuggler and would love to keep you company on the couch, and keep you warm in bed on these cold winter nights. I am a very strong girl with a lot of energy, and am just starting to learn some manners so I will need an experienced, strong owner to work with me, preferably one who can take me on lots of long hikes or walks. I am working on my housebreaking, and am getting better by the day. I don't love my crate, but I will go in there if I have to, especially if I have something yummy to chew on. My previous owners didn't take very good care of me and they never gave me any heartworm preventative, so I have to be treated for heartworms before I can go to my new home. The vet said I only had a mild case so I should be good as new in a couple months! I just can't tell you enough how much love I have to give you. When I see my foster mom and dad I get so excited that I wag my whole body so hard that my tail hits me in the face. They are always laughing at me when I do that. I will update again soon once I get settled in and start my heartworm treatment. I can't wait to meet my forever family! Love, Emmy
