Birthday: July 4th 2007 Likes: likes to "rough house" with our Dalmation Bella, he loves to go for runs, loves to snuggle, likes water, likes his belly rubbed, likes to be brushed ,loves to run, sleep in the bay window and loves to sleep in front of the woodstove . Pet-Peeves: doesnt like the top of his head petted too much, hates to be left at home Favorite Toy: his chewy bone, my bedspread, his blankey, his rope toy, my pillows and socks! Favorite Food: anything really but does favor bacon, also likes milk bones, homemade doggie snacks and puperoni Favorite Walk: in the woods or at beach or on our property 20 acres to run with his friends and me! Best Tricks: looking really sad to get treats! opening the sliding glass door in our bedroom! Arrival Story: Patch was thrown from the back of a pick up truck in front of where I work. He ran after the truck and disappeared. When I came back to work there he was, looking so sad. Covered in mange, very skinney and very scared. Most of the folks at work did not like him because he was a Pit Bull. I called my hubby and he came to pick him up. He took him home, bathed him and the next day it was off to the vets. He had to take meds for his mange for almost 6 weeks. We put bag balm on his poor little face, he was a mass of crusty skin an sores. He healed up and is now a beautiful boy and we love him with all our hearts. He was very abused in his old home. I suspect they tried to make him mean by hitting him but his nature is very sweet and he loves everyone although he is quite shy at first. We have five other dogs and he gets along great with everyone. Patch is very special. this is our first Pit Bull so I had to do some research on this breed. Pits are very loving and like to be around people. Patch loves to snuggle and loves to play all the time. After rescuing Patch we realized that he is also a fearful dog by temperament but I do suspect his past home had something to do with this as well. We have worked very hard to socilalize him to new people and new things. It has taken along time but he has improved 100%. He will always be fearful of some things but thats ok. he is the best dog I have ever had and would not trade him for all the money in the world. He is satin and steel, loyal, loving, dedicated and extremely smart. He has had basic training and now knows a few tricks. He loves to learn new things. He also enjoys pulling things so we are starting him him weight pulling. He will not compete due to his fearfulness but just for fun at home. He likes pulling me on a sled! What more can ya ask for. It was his lucky day when he got tossed away like a piece of trash,he is a great friend and loving companion. Well its been awhile since I could sneak on moms puter but here I am hehehe. I went with my running mate Kima to the shelter where mom volunteers at. There is a doggie there mama really likes and feels bad for because nobody even looks at her.
See she is a black dog and black dogs for some reason don't stand out and she is a pit bull and for the life of me I just don't get why people are afraid of us, we are so cute and loving. Ask mama I give her kisses all the time, Kima too.
Anyway she took us there so she could let us meet this maybe new sister, maybe we are going to be her foster family for awhile. Her name is Ariel and she is very shy, way more shy than me, but hey I am getting lots better.
She also wanted her friend that works there to see me and kinda show me off I think, so we get there and out comes Ariel. She is a pretty Pibble girl, all black except a white star thingy on her chest and a little white stripe up her nose. A real cutie I am thinking.
She passed the Kima test, but Kima loves everyone and more important she passed the Patch test because I can get picky sometimes. Now the good part, she wants to show me off but wow there was so many smells there!
My nose almost flew off my face, um um good smells too, I didn't hear her calling my name....sit....down....stay....sit pretty..nope nothing registered at all. I completely forgot everything, including walking on my leash, I was pulling with all my might to get to some of those new smells. I could tell mama was not happy with me.
Who is Patch...she kept calling for Patch uh oh..then I remember thats me...as I came out of my nose coma she put me back in the truck. I could hear the laughter and something about money well spent.hmmmmmm I also heard her tell me on the way home that I get to have more training. Oh great, can't a guy ever get a break. But I love mama and she loves me so I will do my sit pretty for her. Works every time. She melts because she thinks I look so cute Little does she know that this dog knows some tricks of his own but ssssshhhhh don't tell mama....
I got another bath the other day, because I was really dirty. I went to the woods with dad and dug holes, ran thru the brush and played in the water. I was kinda brown colored. Sooooooo mom took one look at me as I was headed to jump on the bed for a snooze and said oh no you dont, you gonna get a bath! Yeeks bath,,,no likey bath, I remember last time, I dont like that sprayer thing.
But this time mom filled the tub with warm water and she got in there with me. It was way better. I got my special soap and I really enjoyed it this time. Mom kept telling me what a good boy I was. I got lots of treats too.
After I got toweled dried and felt sooooooo good. Then I got to get up on the bed feeling clean and smelling good. I guess baths are ok, but mom has to get in there to!
Today mom deceided to give me a bath using my new soap from the lady that trains me (haha but thats another story) When mom and dad first rescued me they bathed me alot because I was a stinky dog (I had mange really bad and it makes you stink bad) Since I was new I let them bath me without a fuss, but I never really enjoy it.
Now I have been in my forever home now for 1 year and feel very good about myself also I dont stink anymore. Mom thought I looked hmmm what did she say ....oh I know dingy! What ever that is. So I watch her go get some really big bath towels and get the room ready (that means putting the shower curtain up, toilet seat down and anything that could get wet up on the counter)
She calls me,,yeah like I am going to come, she calls again no Patch so she comes and picks me up and puts me in the tub. Ok so far. The she turns the shower hand thingy on. I am not liking this at all. Water on my body, its nice and warm but i just don't like it. I stiffen all my legs and try really hard to get out of the tub but mom had a good hold on me.
She turns the water off and starts rubbing my new soap on me. ohhhh I like this, it feels good and it smells good. Yesssssssss up a little on the left shoulder mom ok right there ! So she is done with the soap and the water comes back on. I give it a good heave ho and yipeee I am out of the tub!
Mom is trying to get me back in but I am too much for her so I hear this " Vinnie!! Vinnie!!" thats my dad, no Vinnie so now she calls again only really loud!! Finally he comes in and says this "what?" Mom looks at him with that look! Then Dad says what are you doing? Even I know at this point thats a dumb question. Big big sigh from mom. Mom says can you help me ....So Dad picks me up,,,heheheh I am a slippery little devil by now, and puts me back in the tub. He is holding me really tight and mom is rinsing me really fast.
OK now I am rinsed and ready to get dried. I notice that the dry towels that mom got me are now all wet. Thats cuz the water went everywhere when I jumped out of the tub. Remember that hand held sprayer nozzle? Well when I jumped out of the tub, the sprayer was on its own. Thats how the bathroom got all wet, and my dry towels got all wet and oh yeah mom and dad got all wet too! I thought is was really funny. Mom did not......So she gets me more dry towels and rubs me down..Oh now I am dry and smelling good and looking good. Mom and dad are all wet and look pretty funny. I bet it will be along time before they bath me again...teeeeheeee heeee
