Arrival Story:
I got Brewster when he was 6 weeks old from a breeder. I picked him out at 3 weeks and went several times to visit him before I brought him home. At the time I still lived with my parents who had an English Mastiff (Merlin). The day I brought Brewster home he hopped over to Merlin and started playing immediately. They were the best of friends from that day until Merlin passed away in 2006. Brewster is now 9 years old and just last summer went through TPLO surgery for a torn ligament in his back right knee. He'd been limping a little but I thought it was just age. Unfortunately B had to have some growths removed so while he was under anesthesia already, the vet did some x-rays and found the problem. He was in pain and not enjoying his normal, high speed acitivities so I had no choice but opt for the surgery...his best bet for recovering 100% mobility. Well...IT WORKED!!! He had a lot of down time, resting in his kennel (not his favorite thing) and several weeks worth of physical therapy. Now, the only way you'd know he'd been through this is to look for the scar!

Brewster is a LOVING boy! He's never known a hard day in his life (unless you count his knee surgery and subsequent recovery time). However, he knows lots of other dogs out there have, so he's grateful to have a warm bed, plenty of food and all the love he can stand! He loves everyone he meets and is a VERY active boy. He gets along great with other dogs, kids, people, like I said, everyone! His Grandma and Grandpa have 3 rescued dogs (1 Mastiff and 2 Boxers)! He loves to play with them every chance he gets and they have the best time together! Maybe they'll have their own pages soon!

Brewster's Diary new little bro...

I don't know what to say about my new little brother Max except WOW! We're just the best of friends, completely inseparable! He definitely keeps me young at heart since I can't let that little whippersnapper show me up in the "running laps" department! We have the best time hanging out in the backyard, play fighting, running and sometimes just chillin'! We really spend most of the time in the house though! Living in SC, when the weather's nice it's good but when it gets hot, it gets HOT! Because of that, Mom and Dad usually don't leave us outside for very long periods of time (and I'm glad!) We stay active though, you better believe!
Since my brother got here, I've been seeing a lot more trash...he sometimes likes to raid it when Mom and Dad aren't here. He has a kennel that they leave him in on the rare days when they both work at the same time, but when they're not gone for long periods of time, they trust us in the house together. We MOSTLY do ok, but there's the occasional trash mishap (as mentioned earlier), some potty problems now and then (from Max, I'm SO OVER accidents in the house but he's still young) and the general mischievous activity that we could all avoid if mom & dad would just remember not to leave bread on the counter within reach! All in all, we're pretty good but just have minor behavior slumps now and then. Mom and Dad are working with Max on the potty stuff and trying to keep things away from us when they go out...they know some of the problems have been their fault so they don't fuss at us much, thank goodness!
I sure do love having a new brother around. It's been fun having someone else to blame for stuff ;)
Hope everyone is well and happy!

My new little brother

Hey there everyone!
So, what can I say about my new little brother Max? He's a silly little fella, that's for sure. Mommy and Daddy told me I'd have to teach him the ropes around here, since I'm the big brother. It doesn't seem like I have much work to do though. He's just fallen right in step with our routine around here, so all I really need to do is teach him some tricks and a few obedience commands. I'm trying really hard to show him what "stay" means, and I think he's getting it. It didn't take me long at all to teach him how comfy the couch is and how great it is to cuddle with Mommy and Daddy. I didn't even have to tell him how fun our skin brother Jack is...he just started playing with him (and his toys) as soon as he got here. Yep, I gotta tell ya, Max sure is a fun little brother to have around here. I don't even act like a grumpy old man with him, because even though I'm 9, I still love to play and have fun. I even let him lay on me and jump around like a psycho dog right in front of me (even though really, I'm the boss of him).
Lots of wags and wiggles to you all!
