Arrival Story:
We adopted Mollie and Keira together from a guy who posted them as "free to a good home" on Craigslist. He was getting divorced and moving to an apartment. He had adopted Mollie from a shelter when she was a puppy, and adopted Keira (original name Brady) from a shelter in 2007.

Bio:
Keira is a medium-sized mutt of uncertain parentage. She probably has some Rottweiler in her, judging by her coloring and build. There may also be some shepherd/collie/spaniel of some type. She's four years old and weighs about 65 pounds. Her previous owner adopted her from a shelter when she was three -- we don't know what her life was like before then. Keira recently completed basic obedience. She's not a natural in obedience - not very food motivated, nor is she a people pleaser. She does know her sit and down, and can spin and target on command. We're still working on wait/stay and come. She's pretty good on loose leash walking. Keira sometimes barks in the back yard when she hears other dogs barking, but she doesn't bark at other dogs when we go for walks. However, she has sometimes gotten growly and snappy toward other dogs, in both obedience class and at dog parks. We haven't figured her out completely yet. She's not all that interested in meeting new people, but she's definitely not aggressive toward people. She is a resource guarder and tends to take toys away from Mollie when she can. She has some joint issues that cause her to be unhappy about going up and down stairs or through the dog door, but we're giving her chondroitin and glucosamine every day and hoping that will help. Exercise is good for dogs with joint problems, so even though it makes me sad to see her limping, she comes with us on every walk. She's a picky eater and seems to have a tendency toward stomach problems. She's an awesome dog.
