Leave a bone for Ms. Daffodil

Daffy, Daffster

January 1st 1992

Arrival Story:
Daffodil was found straying in Rock Creek Park in Washington on April 17th 1997. She was lured into the car with a lunch sandwich. She was imaciated, cold and had scars on her, but she was also sweet and friendly.

Adoption options were pursued but Daffodil soon had her foster family in the clutches of love and affection, so she stayed for nine years until her death in early 2006. Ms. Daffodil was a fighting Pit Bull. Her ears had been ripped out without stitches or anesthesia, and she had permanet scars on her body. She was dog agressive and hated men. She was treated by a doggy psychiatrist and on Prozac for some time. She mellowed out some as the years went on. She was the sweetest, most affectionate dog with her family. She was great friends with her adoptive canine siblings. She was a momma's girl. She had Insulinoma for the last two years of her life. She was our precious girl for nine years. We learned a lot about the cruelty of dog fighting and the effect it has on the dogs' psyche. We also learned much about the resilience of the dog's spirit, the loyalty and the will to love and be loved by their humans. We miss you. Rest in piece, sweetheart, our big snorty head.
