He was born with a genetic condition called Megaesohpagus. He could not keep any food down as a very young pup at only 7 weeks old. A generous and kind Vet Clinic (Dr. Gilson and wife Jen) rescued him from the pound. They performed several surgeries on him and weren't sure what his prognosis would be. When Sammi was old enough and for the most part well enough to be adopted, they placed him in foster care (with me!). I fell in love with Sammi (already having 2 large labs at home) and at that time not knowing his true prognosis it would scare most potential adopters away. I couldn't bear seeing Sammi put through that and be rejected time after time so I decided to give him his permenent and forever home with us. Sammi is now 3 years old and his prognosis is good. Expected to live a normal life span. The Groups I'm In: LA labradors I've Been On Dogster Since:
