Quick Bio:

Likes:
He likes Xander and Harley.

Pet-Peeves:
People on bicycles; but he's working on getting over this. He also hates getting his eyes & ears cleaned daily (but we have to do that so the "gunk" doesn't build up!).

Favorite Toy:
Sailor likes a green plush dog and pull-toy combo

Favorite Food:
Sailor likes a mix of steamed chicken (or hamburger), rice, and kibble. He also likes Cupboard Creations Natural Dog Food. He's currently warching his weight with IAMS Weight Management!

Favorite Walk:
Our local park for on-leash walks. For off-leash romps, without doubt, Sailor LOVES the El Segundo Doggy Park.

Best Tricks:
Sit for meals. He's getting better at "Stay."

Arrival Story:
At first, I was enamored of Wire Fox Terriers and researched them as much as possible. I even checked the online sites that dealt with terrier mixes and that was where I found Sailor. The Sam Simon Foundation had taken him from the pound, and he was adopted several times before I got him; the first man who adopted him returned him because he was "fear aggressive." My Sailor?? Amazing! I am eternally grateful to the Sam Simon Foundation for their generosity, patience and kindness in helping me acquire Sailor.

Bio:
Cesar Millan says you often don't get the dog you want, but you do get the dog you need. This was certainly true between Sailor and me! Sailor seems to think he's a Pomeranian! The Pom's like to perch on the window and watch for whoever's walking by (and usually bark at them!). A few days ago, my sister caught Sailor trying to do the same thing...and he's much bigger than the size for perching on a window-sill! Harley and Sailor like to play; Xander and Harley play "Indy 500" , where they race around. Sailor and Xander have only started to play...it's still in the early stages, but getting better!

Yesterday (3/19/09) I got a reply from the BioPet Vet Lab that my DNA Breed Identification test results were in. To my great surprise I found that Sailor's Poodle background is joined by Saint Bernard, more Poodle, Italian Greyhound, and Lhasa Apso. I wouldn't have thought Italian Greyhound or Lhasa Apso, but Saint Bernard? That's amazing! Sailor knows that I love him no matter what he is. :-)

A Shelter Lass

Every now and again, my mom checks sites like Petfinder.com in search of a nice female to be my bestest friend; I'd like a say in the matter, too!

She should be kind of a medium height and weigh about thirty pounds...yeah, that's what I am and I don't know if I want a girl to be taller than me. I'm pretty open about the breed (mom is, too). Mom thinks the way to go is to get another hypo-allergenic dog like I am...whatever, as long as she gets a girl!

Mom says that she will most likely get her from the animal shelter, so we will be saving a life. I think that's pretty cool! However, she says that she will probably wait till I am more fully trained and wait till we move to Washington (state). We will most likely move to Port Orchard or Poulsbo; the climate will be a lot cooler than it is in Los Angeles.

Breeds we've been considering so far are Poodle, Schnauzer and the Portuguese Water Dog. My mom saw a breed she really liked a lot...the Samoyed...even though it is a breed which blows coat twice a year. I saw the photo (a really great-looking girl named Roxy)...I think I'm in love! Roxy is on Petfinder and needs help now, and we can't adopt yet. "The course of true love never runs smooth..." Or something like that!

Roxy is located at www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=13921086. I think she's really pretty...she has a coat colored a lot like mine! Let me know what you think of her.

Whatever young lady we adopt from the Washington shelter, and whenever we adopt her, I know she'll be as loved as I am...and that's a whole lot!

Well, here I go again. Mom consulted another canine DNA testing source and this time, it's official...I am half Poodle and half Saint Bernard. Those testing swabs in my mouth were icky!

Oh well, if it keeps her happy it's OK with me. But this time, I'm putting my paw down...no more testing. I'm still a Doodle...a Saint Berdoodle to be exact!

A New Car?

My mom is all excited because she's going to take some classes in Driver's Education and Training. Ordinarily, that wouldn't cause much more than someone saying, "Oh...that's nice." This is something kind of special: she's returning to driving after having had a stroke three years ago and the doctors say she's ready to drive.

I said a "new" car; well, it will be new to her even though the car is used! The car itself will most likely be an SUV of some sort. She talks about things like good gas mileage, reliable transportation, economical, a good sound system (I think she called it a CD), and air conditioning thoughout the car (not just for the front seat).

All I think is that last part being important, so that I have a steady stream of air from my place in the back seat!

If you know of anyone that's selling an SUV, contact me here!
