Trying to be good

I am trying to be a good girl because apparently now when I do something bad, like peeing and pooping in the house, it means no ground beef that night. And ground beef is one of my favoritist things in the world, I love it so much that I will even try to be a good dog in order to get it. And I've done pretty good and being a good dog for the last couple days. Yesterday my mommy went to the grocery store and she brought back all kinds of yummy treats for me. She says some of them are for her too, and some for her ONLY, but we'll see about that one. I'm pretty cute and it is hard to resist me, I know it, she knows it, the whole world knows it! Anyways, when she came home she took me out to do my business OUTSIDE (that's how she's been saying it lately) and since I'd heard her car earlier, I thought we might be going for a car ride. Plus, I was looking all cute in my little heart dress and I need the world to see me looking all cute. I thought maybe it was time to go on the long car ride back to Texas to see Finley and everybody else. Or maybe we were gonna go looking for where mommy's daddy disappeared to. But no car ride for me. I didn't get a long walk today either, even though it's the weekend! Mommy says she's not walking me when it's 20 degrees or something as a high. Personally, I think she's a big old weenie about this weather thing since we weren't even getting snow, but don't tell her I said that since I'm trying to be good to get ground beef. At least we got to snuggle some, snuggling is nice when it is all cold outside.

So I was tagged by my friend Lucy and I'm supposed to list things I love.

1. I love my ground beef dinner. I didn't get one last night - but mom says one is coming up tonight since I've been a good girl.

2. I love water. I love swimming pools, baths, the ocean, you name it. The wetter the better!!

3. I love car rides. Sometimes I go on really long car rides that last days and I love sleeping on my mommy's lap while we do that.

4. I love wearing clothes. I get so excited about wearing sweaters and dresses. I think I look really cute so I get an extra little skip in my step.

5. I love when mommy walks my down to her law school. It is a lot of fun, sometimes people will see me and pet me. And I get to pee in lots of cool places. Not every dog can say they've peed in Harvard Yard. :)

6. I love all my toys. I love them so much sometimes I'll sleep with one of them in my mouth.

7. I love all my mommy's family. I love her mommy and her daddy and her sister and I love Finley and I love Jezebel even though sometimes she pretends like she doesn't love me back.

Visit from my mommy's daddy

So my mommy's daddy came to see me this weekend. Well, maybe he came to see my mommy too a little bit but I am pretty sure it was mostly to see me. He is so much fun - he never strips me or does my toenail like mommy does. We had a long of fun hanging out. I didn't like too much when he and my mom went to go eat dinner - they came back smelling like yummy food (something they called "lobster") and did not bring any back for me! I could have used some lobster. Meanies. This afternoon he was starting to pack and I didn't like that and hadn't been outside for a few hours so I peed all over the couch. Mommy really didn't like that. I'd peed in her bedroom earlier this week and got one of her purses wet and she was already saying I was having a bad week. Anyways, while she was busy cleaning, I hopped up in her daddy's lap and got pets. She wasn't happy about that one. See - she is no fun and her daddy is much better. That's why I spent every night sleeping with him and not her. Then she left with him and came back by herself!! Where did she take him??? I am really sad and mopey about it - I've been whining some. I also had to get stripped and get my nails done - mommy is in a mood to torture me today - quick someone call the ACLU or something about this!! I wish her daddy was still here. We had lots of fun together. I'm still looking for him - will let you pups know if I find him!

Hello pups - this weekend is only one day long :(

So this one day weekend thing sucks. Mommy had to wake up super early and take a test today - yup - a test on Saturday morning. I don't know what that's about but I think the Hahvahd administration needs a good old-fashioned butt-bite for it. Because mommy has to start new classes on Monday - that means when she got home she was doing more of that dumb reading. Grrrr. Weekends are for my mommy to spend playing with me, not to spend with those big books. Anyways, I left mommy a poop this morning in the house before she was leaving for her test. I always do poops in the house when she has tests - she doesn't know why either, but I do them. She got kinda mad at me and she only left me with one little treat when she went off to take her test. What is all that about??? I have not gotten another treat today either - I am still waiting but I am getting impatient about it. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day and I might get a walk if mommy doesn't think it is too cold. We'll see.

Snow and slush

So today it is snowing and slushing and raining and all kinds of weather! Mommy doesn't seem to like it very much. What I don't like is the ice that is forming on top of my snow. How am I supposed to scruff ice??? It is very hard to do. And mommy has me wear my snow boots which aren't my favoritist things in the world but now I've gotten to wear I am ok with them - I didn't like them at all first last year.

One thing I do like is my new bed that Finley's mom made me. I have been sleeping on that bed a lot lately - it is all mine and so soft and nice. I love it tons.

No more pawlitical ads today! Yea Dogster!! Let's keep the ads for dog food, I like looking at those - yum yum. Or maybe ads for a yummy steak or something good to look at. Better than pawliticians anyways - BOL!!

When did Dogster get all pawlitical?? Bad enough all the pawlitical ads on TV, but now there are even pawlitical ads on my Dogster page?? Hello, I am a dog. Dogs do not vote. Well, a cat got called for jury duty here in Massachusetts so maybe they do let dogs vote here. It is a pawssibility. I am just tired of all the Martha Coakley ads, I don't know about that lady. She didn't even know who Curt Schilling is, she called him a Yankees fan. Those are fighting words in Boston, even I am just a dog and I know that. And what is with showing pictures of George W. Bush but not of his adorable Scottie, Barney. I miss Barney and his Barney videos - he was a real cutie. Miss Beasley was also a cute little girl, but that Barney was quite the cute dude. Oh well, get out of pawlitics Dogster!!

Walk

So today was tons of fun! Even though last night wasn't too fun - I had a poopslosion in the house and mommy was not to happy about it since she'd taken me outside and was standing in the cold. I told her that she is the one who is collecting my poops in little plastic bags - I thought this way maybe she could get one without having to get her hands cold. She didn't believe me though. And this morning, I peed in the house so I heard more of that bad girl stuff. Whatever. Then the fun started - I got to go on a big long walk! I haven't gotten to go on one in a while since it's either been too cold or mommy has been to sick. But since it was in the 40s today I got to go on a walk down to Hahvahd, where mommy goes to school. I had so much fun - I had to do a lot of peeing since it had been a while since I'd been on my long walk. I must have peed at least 29 times - I don't think mommy understands why I need to pee everywhere - oh well. I peed in Hahvahd Yahd 3 times itself! And I got to run through the mushy slushy snow mud - that was fun. I chased some squirrels and I almost caught one! But it got up the tree. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't been on a leash I would have gotten it, but oh well. You escaped this time squirrel - be on the lookout next time. When I got home mommy took off my little fleece jacket because it was all muddy and I got rinsed off. Then I had some time to snuggle with mommy and she gave me lots of hugs - it was really nice! I hope tomorrow is just as much fun!

Monday

I do not like this day called Monday. My mommy abandoned me today - well actually she didn't really abandon me but she did leave me alone for a few hours to go to "class." I don't like this class. Sometimes on the weekend she will go places, like the grocery store, but then she comes back smelling like food and I can tell there is ground beef in the bag for me. But on Mondays she comes back smelling like books and in a not great mood. Also, on Mondays, it is all "hurry up Whitley, I don't have ALL DAY' when she takes me outside to Patrol the Perimeter and Do My Business. It is not my fault you choose to go to school Mommy and you should not be expecting me to lighten up on important Guard Dog Duties because of you. I only do my Guard Dog Duties to keep you safe, and yes, digging in snow is a important Guard Dog Duty. I'm checking the snow for, ummm, invaders, yeah invaders is what I'm checking for. Oh well, at least when mommy abandoned me she did give me a tasty Carver's treat. YUM YUM. And we got to snuggle some tonight. So I guess Mondays aren't all bad, but they still are about my least favoritist day ever.

Bath Day

Today was bath day. Unlike some of you pups, I love taking baths. I hop straight up the stairs and into the tub. Today I was standing in the tub wagging my tail when mom started to bathe me. I love playing in the water, but I also love running around the house and thwacking my body into everything after a bath. It is tons of fun, I just run and throw myself as hard as I can into the wall. All you pups should try it sometime, tons of fun.

New Year's Resolutions

So, since Jezebel the cat has made her resolutions I've decided to do the same.

1. Squeak my toys more often and louder. Finley has shown me some good tricks on how to find the squeaker so I'm going to work on doing it. I know mommy loves hearing my toys squeak.

2. Work on my barking more. I have been working on perfecting my different barks - the stay away from here bark, the give me more food bark, the I just like to hear myself bark bark. So I'm going to work on that some more.

3. Get mommy to give me more treats without making me go in the crate. I don't know how Finley manages to pull that off but I wish I could.

4. Kill the new purple vacuum. Oh how I hate that vacuum.

Seven Fascinating Facts About ME!!!

1. I invented my very own fun game called pool ball. I get on a big pool float and bounce play balls off my nose and bark for everyone to throw them for me. I've taught Finley how to play and their are videos of us playing on my page.

2. Someone tried to steal me once! When mommy was walking me around UCLA's campus this big dog came running at me. I started barking and the girl with the dog grabbed me up. Mommy told her to put me down but she wouldn't. Mommy had to punch her in order to get me back. I sure am glad mommy got me back.

3. I've been to 22 States! I've been to the Grand Canyon, Malibu, Arizona, New Mexico, Boston, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, Louisiana, Arkansas, and all over Texas. And I was born in Oklahoma!

4. I've killed squirrels before - and caught them when I was on leash. They sure were tasty. Yum yum.

5. I love swimming. When I was really a tiny puppy I jumped in the pool in November. Twice! I also love playing in the ocean and baths. Too bad not everybody lets me bathe with them. Water is fun.

6. I love to wear clothes. I push my nose at my clothes until mommy puts them on me. And I bark if she forgets. I have t-shirts and sweaters and dresses and coats and I love them all.

7. I skip when I walk. Especially when I'm excited - like if I'm wearing clothes or going somewhere fun.

Hmmm I could get used to this . . .

I have been having such a good time these last few days. No offense to mommy - I mean I love her and all that stuff. But I also love getting tons of attention from lots of people. And getting mommy's little sister to hug me tons and getting to sit in mommy's daddy's lap and getting tons of pets from mommy's mommy. And I love playing with my cat and Finley. I also get more treats here than I get with just mommy - she is really going to have to step up her game on that one. One thing I am not liking too much is all this waiting for Christmas. I want those presents now - waiting so long really sucks. But everyone is making us wait. I hope Christmas comes soon.

A Week Until Christmas

I am getting so excited for Christmas. Mommy went Christmas shopping yesterday and she got me some presents!! I can't wait to see what they are. Finley really can't wait for them - she tried to get them out of the bag when mommy brought them home. I've been having so much fun playing and chasing with my BFF! It's really fun!

Back to Texas

So mommy is finally done with those annoying things she calls "finals." I call them "mommy ignores my cuteness and prefers dumb big books to me. Anyways, mommy is all done with that now and we are heading to Texas tomorrow. I can't wait to see my BFF Finley and my kitty BFF Jezebel! We will all have so much fun. Even if I do have to be cramped up in a carrier for a few hours tomorrow I'm still looking forward to it!

Snow and a new dress!

We had some snow last night! It is so much fun. I love snow - playing in it, scruffing it, digging in it, all so much fun. But mommy made me come back in. She doesn't like the snow like I do - she said it is because she doesn't come with a built in fur coat like I do. Now whose fault is that?? It's not mine, so she shouldn't punish me by making me come in from the snow.

And another big package came in the mail today. And this time there was a dress in the package for me. It is a really cute Christmas dress - mommy took pictures of me and now I'm wearing it in my main picture. I loved the dress so much I didn't want to take it off. But mom made me take it off when she took me out because it was raining and she didn't want the dress to get wet. Silly!

Turtle Squeaks and Big Packages

I am so happy it is Friday - that means mommy won't be leaving to go to stupid old class for a couple days!!! I heard some talk about finals - that means mommy will be staying home with me more. But it also means a lot of time with those big dumb books. Maybe I'll chew on one and then she'll stop paying attention to them.

I was playing with my turtle toy a lot earlier. I ran upstairs with it and squeaked. Then I ran down into the basement and squeaked it some more! But now I can't find it - I don't even know what level of the house it's on.

A big package came in the mail today. But there was nothing for me in there! What is wrong with that mailman, bringing big packages with nothing for me, Whitley, the cutest little pup around?? And who would send a package to my mommy when they could send one to me??? I was pretty indignant about it but mommy says there's a package coming tomorrow (or maybe Monday) that'll have a Christmas dress in it from Finley's mommy!!!! Yea!! I'm so excited about new clothes - so much fun!

Thanksgiving

I had a very nice Thanksgiving getting to visit Finley and everyone. It was so much fun to have a buddy to play with - two buddies when you count the cat (she counts sometimes - she's too sleepy the rest of the time to want to non-stop play!) But today I had to spend a lot of time in my carrier while we flew from Dallas to Houston back to Boston. Yuck - I don't like that. Then when we got home - mommy left to go to class!!! How rude!!!

Oh well, I've gotten lots of pets since then so I'm all happy now!

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

I'm going back to Texas for Thanksgiving (and mommy's birthday). We're going to take all kinds of exciting transportation - a subway train, then a bus, then a plane, then a car. The car is my favorite since that's when I'm out of my carrier! I got a bath today so I'll look all nice and pretty for the security people. I hope they'll give me pets. They like when I wear my SECURITY t-shirt - so I'm wearing it tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to playing with Finley and Jezebel. And getting pets from all my people (and hopefully some turkey too!!!)

I need help from some smart pups

Ok pups - I've got a major problem. Today I was being my cutest little self - so cute no human SHOULD be able to resist me. But my mommy was resisting me. She had this big dumb book in her lap. I don't mind those little books she read since I can sit in her lap and snuggle and get pets when she reads those. But when she reads those big books, she has them take up her entire lap. And she's busy writing in some other book at the same time. So I tried to get up in her lap - after all I'm cuter than some dumb old book. And I'm warm and snuggly and the book is hard and can't even keep her warm. But she told me I could sit next to her and kept the dumb book in her lap. What do I do pups?? I really need some suggestions on how to convince mommy I belong in her lap, and that dumb book belongs on a bookshelf.

Dogster Best in Show Photo Contest

I'm a finalist in the Dogster Best in Show photo contest - I'm so excited. My photo is a picture of me doing my favorite thing - playing pool ball!! I love playing in the pool. I don't think I'll get to play when me and mommy go home to Texas for Thanksgiving. Mommy seems to have this thing against me playing in the pool in late November. Anyways, I'd love it if some of you pups would vote for me for best in show. Thanks!!

Come on Mom, razor blades are yummy

Mommy got really worried about me. Last night, when mommy was asleep, I hopped into the tub and got out her razor (knocking over some soap bottles on the way - OOPS!). Then I pulled out ALL the razor blades and chewed on the metal until it was all twisty and good. I left the metal and the razor on the bedroom rug where I'd been chewing.

Mommy was pretty upset when she saw what I'd done - she was really worried. See, I used to do this a lot when I was a puppy. I didn't do it for years, but then I did it again a few months ago. She thought then maybe it was because I was picking up on her stress, but now she's all confused. It's not that hard - chewing on razor blades is fun! But mommy says it's dangerous. She counted all the metal and it was all there. Duh, I'm not dumb enough to swallow the razor blades - I just chew 'em up. Then she checked mu mouth and I wasn't bleeding - duh mommy I'm not a dummy puppy - but she checked anyway.

She talked to me about how I wasn't supposed to do it. I don't know though - it's kinda FUN. But mommy says now the razor is going up way high to where I can't get it. She told me to chew on one of my sixty-something toys instead if I wanted to chew. But mommy, none of them have metal blades. She doesn't get how yummy razor blades are - silly mommy!

My name is Whitley, not "you bad dog"

Somebody needs to explain this to my mom.

I got a bath today, which I really like. One of my favorite things about baths (besides the water) is running around all over the house and banging into the wall to dry off. It's so much fun, but mommy just looks at me like I'm insane. So she was looking at me like I lost my mind while I was throwing myself into the closet door, so I decided to run downstairs to dry off. Well, sometimes things happen when I run around too much and get to excited. So I accidently left mom a little present on the rug by the front door.

And she started yelling at me!!! I don't know what her problem was anyway, she was cleaning the house. So it was just a little bit more to clean.

Then she brought out the EVIL NEMISIS she uses to clean the house. This is the third nemisis we've had, the first one was green, the second one was yellow. I successfully destroyed those invading vacuums, but then a purple one took their place. So I was doing my best to protect mom by barking the vacuum away and trying to figure out a way to destroy it. And she yells at me again.

She doesn't understand my job as Head of Home Security is to protect her from these invading threats. I don't know why mom lets these things in out home, she is too trusting.

I had to keep making sad faces and be nice and not try to bite her when she stripped me just to make her stop being mad at me. But everything is ok now - hopefully it'll be a while before the EVIL NEMISIS is back and by then I'll have a good attack plan.

Kill that Shark

I've been playing with my shark toy lots today. I squeak it and shake it - it's so much fun. I got a bath today which was nice. I like baths. I didn't get a walk today even though it was sunny because mommy was feeling bad. I tried to lick her leg to make her feel better, but I don't think it worked. I'm gonna go back to killing the shark now.

Hahvahd

I'm back at Hahvahd now. I've been getting to go on walks - lots of different things to smell and pee on. If only mommy would let me pee on everything I want to - she has this crazy idea that walks are supposed to be EXERCISE not just me peeing everywhere. Silly mommy. It's raining, but mommy won't let me stand outside in it. I think she doesn't realize that my ancestors come from the Scottish highlands - standing out in the damp, wet cold is a natural thing. She says her ancestors come from Texas and I can just pee and get back inside where it's warm. We already had snow last weekend it was fun. I went to the Berkshires a couple weeks ago with mommy and her mommy. We had fun. I wish they would have let me wander off into the woods to chase down all those interesting smells but they said something about bears and I wasn't getting to go try to start a fight with a bear so I could get back in the car. Maybe that's what that interesting smell was I didn't recognize . . . I guess I'll never get to know.

Summer Fun

I've been having so much fun this summer. I love getting to play pool ball and I've been getting to do it almost every day!! I like to play with Finley - but sometimes she bites at me when we play. She says I'm being a "ball hog." I think she's just jealous because I can hit the ball further and higher. It is so much fun though. I have to bark at the humans to throw the balls quicker - they are too slow.

I'm jealous of Finley. She's been getting to wear a t-shirt lately. I don't. I tried to tell mom I wanted to wear a t-shirt. She told me it's too hot and Finley is only wearing one to keep her from itching her skin. She said I had enough hair as it was. She's one to talk - that girl has some big hair! I'm still jealous of Finley wearing a shirt though . . .

Pool ball

Wow!! I've been having so much fun ever since I got back to Texas. I had tons of fun on my road trip too - I even got to pee in four new states - Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Talk about fun. For some reason, my people wouldn't let me stay there until I smelled every inch of the area though. What do they know? There's a reason why I'm Head of Security.

Anyways, pool ball is so much fun. I get so excited by pool ball that I start barking just when I smell swimsuits. I let Finley play too, but she doesn't love it as much as I do. She needs to stop biting my balls and killing them if she wants to keep playing though. I bark and bark until someone throws me a ball, then bounce it off my nose and bark and bark some more. And sometimes I jump in the water and swim around. It's so much fun. But the people made me stop, they said I was too tired to keep going. Just because I came in the house and collapsed and fell asleep does NOT mean I was too tired. It just means there was nothing interesting to do since they made me quit pool ball.

I'm hoping for some more pool ball tomorrow. Should be fun!!

Spring!

So it is finally feeling like Spring today! Yea!

My most favorite person is coming to see me on Tuesday! I'm so excited!!!!!!

Sleepy

I'm really sleepy tonight. I had a lot of fun playing fetch earlier and now I'm all worn out. :)

Ruff Day

Today was a ruff day!! My mom had to spend all day at school. At least we got to play with squeaky toys when she got home!
