This morning I thought it would be fun to get back at mom and dad for giving me a bath yesterday. When she let me out into the yard this morning I did a little excavating. Daddy had filled up the hole I had dug last night. I carefully re-dug my hole. I tried to look very sweet and innocent when I came back to the door but mom took a quick look down at my feet and saw......muddy paws! She went back to the sink and came back with wet and dry paper towels. She came out onto the deck and washed my legs and all four paws! Busted! Oh well. I still had fun digging and daddy doesn't know it yet be has the hole to refill!!

Today mom and Dad took me to Petco so I could spend my gift card that won at Greyhound Friends in the costume contest. I was so happy to see that my canned dog food had some new flavors. Mom bought me two of each kind. I also bought some treats for myself. I like going to Petco as there are always other dogs there to meet. We got back into the car and I thought we would be going home. I thought everything was great until daddy turned the car into Dirty Hairy's Dog Wash! OH NO! I was getting a BATH! Sure enough, they took me inside. Mom and dad had the crazy idea that I was willingly going to walk up the stairs and get in the tub. No way! I just put on the breaks and stood there. Daddy had to pick me up and lift me into the tub. Once I was in there, I was OK. Mom and dad put on their aprons and gave me a shampoo and conditioner. I didn't mind the warm water and I was good about not shaking and getting them wet. They dried me off with towels which felt nice. Daddy had to lift me out of the tub too. I didn't want any part of those steps. Once out of the tub I did a good shake. A man that worked there trimmed my nails and then, the best part, I got a new bandanna. This one has minions on it. It is really cute! Now I smell funny but mom thinks I smell good. She said I was getting stinky. I totally disagree but you have to please the humans. My coat is all nice and shiny though and it felt good to get rid of some of the dead winter hair. On our way home we stopped at the other pet store near our house to get cat food for Ben and Charlie. Petco doesn't carry that brand. Since Ben is allergic to chicken mom has to buy several different brands of cat food. Mom and dad bought me a cookie. That was good. I guess it was a good day after all.

What a fun day I had today! Mom, dad and I went to Greyhound Friend's Spring Open House! It was a beautiful day!! We worked at the Silent Auction and Raffle booth again. Mom and dad set me up in my exercise pen and put my blanket over it to make some shade. Believe it or not, the neighbors white rabbit came to the open house. He kept his distance but he was really taking a chance on his life! Things got even better when daddy bought me a hot dog! That was so yummy! A lot of my friends where there. I saw my half brothers Fast and Padfoot and my friends Thor, Teddy and Ripley and many others. New England Patriots Michael Hoomanawanui and Joe Vellano came to sign autographs and take pictures. One of daddy's co-workers is a huge fan. He couldn't come so he asked daddy to get autographs for him. Daddy did. Mom took pictures of daddy with the Patriots! The Patriots even judged the dog show! Mom tried to get me to sing in the Best Trick competition. Only mom ended up singing! BOL!!! I just stood there and made mom look very silly!! Mom won 4th place!!! She gave me the milk bone but she told me that the ribbon was hers!!! When we were leaving the ring we saw a dog that just looked just like me. Our mom's decided to enter the Find Your Twin contest. We did and we won!!! I got a nice blue ribbon and a cool toy. While Longest Tail was going on, mom dressed me for the costume contest. I was a girl leprechaun! She bought most of the costume in Gettysburg and added my pink wig and orange shirt. The New England Patriots where taking pictures of ME!!!! I am not joking!! They had their phones out and both of them took MY picture! WOW!! I won first place!! I got a huge rosette, another cool toy and a $25 gift certificate to Petco. I am not sure what I want to buy yet. After the contest I went back to my pen and relaxed a bit. I did win mom a polo shirt in the raffle. Mom was happy. The polo shirt is white and it matches the ribbon she won!!! BOL!!

I had another exciting day today. Mom and dad took me to the Greyhound Adventures walk! It was held at Minute Man Park which is close to us. Johnny B and Cella where there. I had just seen them yesterday but I am always happy to see them. Stu, who was Brutus's dad came. Everyone gave him a big hug and gave their condolences. It was sad. He will adopt another greyhound one day but he needs to morn his loss. Guess what? I hung out with Mr. Spock!! He is a greyhound! BOL. It was such a beautiful day. We took frequent rest stops to get water. Mom brought me water in a special bottle that I can also drink out of. On our way back to the car mom and dad started talking to a couple who had a dog that looked a lot like me. They were talking about our racing careers and greyhound data. Mom asked who the dogs father was and they said "Flying Penske"! I met another one of my half brothers. We walked together for a while. That was SO cool! I was tired but I sure did have a lot of fun!

Cella's Birthday Party!

I was naughty Thursday morning. Mom let me out into the yard to do my morning duty and I had a lot of fun. I came back with muddy paws- all 4 of them. I had a great time digging in the dirt. By the time mom realized it, I had tracked dirt all over the floor and got my bed filthy. Mom wasn't too happy. I had to get my paws washed. Then mom had to sweep the floor and my bed is now being washed. I feel bad for mom but it was such greyt fun! I plan to do it again real soon!!

Today we celebrated my friend, Cella's 9th birthday! She is my firend who recently lost her leg to osteosarcoma. Her party was at Petco Unleashed. The store set up a very nice little space for our party. SO many greyhounds came including my half brother, Fast and my friends, Robin and Riley and of course Cella's brother Johnny B. They had set up a nice little table with both human goodies and dog treats. We had cake and cookies. I had so much fun socializing and eating treats. I even went up to a little girl and let her pet me! I am usually afraid of human children but she was sitting down and very calm. I also loved all the attention and petting I got from everyone. Most of the time my leash was just free so I could walk around as I wanted. I don't go far from mom and dad. After the party we shopped in the store. Mom bought me a cute doggy hat and matching bandanna. I had such a good time!

A Happy Day and A Sad Day

I went to Paws In The Park yesterday! It is a local doggy fair. I knew where I was when daddy drove into the parking space. I was SO excited that I was jumping on the leash. I couldn't wait to get to the fair grounds.I went into a lot of the booths and saw a lot of my friends- both dog and human. My Half-brother, Fast, was there and so was auntie Carla. Mom and dad bought me a new bed! It is really soft and comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer but it was very cold and windy out and at times it would start to sprinkle. We did stay over 2 hours though so that was enough. I had a lot of fun.

Today was not so good. I learned that my good friend, Brutus, went to the rainbow bridge today. He stayed with us for a few days last winter while his dad had to travel. The vets thought he had arthritis in his neck but it wasn't. It was a tumor. I am SO sad. I have known him for a long time. Before he found his dad, I played with him at Greyhound Friend's. They have a big fenced in yard and we ran together. He was a close and dear friend. I will miss him! Arrrrrooooooooo!!

My Trip To The Vets

Yesterday I went to the vets. Nothing wrong! Don't worry! It was just my annual exam. The vet said I was very healthy. Something interesting did happen though. Mom took me to talk to the pet communicator in Gettysburg. Mom wanted to know how my health was. I said I was feeling well but I did have 2 spots along my spine that were giving me a little problem. Nothing big or nothing to be concerned about- just feeling a little tight and achy. The pet communicator showed mom and dad where those spots were. Well, my vet is a chiropractor so she did a quick check on my spine. She said there were two areas that where a little tight along my spine! Guess what! They were the same exact spots that the pet communicator had showed mom and dad! The vet did an adjustment on my back! Yeah!!!!! Mom told the vet the story about what the pet communicator had said. The vet told us a story about a woman who brought her cat in. The woman said that the pet communicator told her the cat had a mass in her chest and wanted an x-ray done. The vet was kind of laughing about the whole thing but agreed to do the X-ray. When she looked at the X-ray- sure enough, the cat DID have a mass in her chest!

Later mom and dad went to the bank. Mom has a new bank now as she didn't like her old one. They allow dogs inside the bank! I went to the bank!

Last Day of GIG 2014

Sorry I couldn't post the last day we were in Gettysburg. The Internet kept going down at the hotel so we didn't have any service. On Saturday mom got up early to do an art class with greyhound artist Linda Evens. The class started at 8 AM. Mom took me out to do my business and then she left for class. She made a nice picture which is now hanging where the old one was. daddy and I arrived at the expo center around 9:30 and daddy dressed me for the costume contest! Mom was still in class. Daddy grabbed my grass skirt (I was a hula dancer) and noticed that mom had tired the ends together where it went around my waste. Daddy untied the ends and picked it up by only one end. The tie slid right out of my skirt! Daddy ran and got some duct tape to hold my skirt on! Mom was afraid something like that would happen. I was relieved to see that mom made it to the contest area before it all started. She always does the costume contests with me. I didn't win again this year but it was fun. There were a lot of great and creative costumes. After the contest we went to an awesome lecture by Dr. Couto. He knows everything about greyhound physiology. In many ways we are not dogs! We are so different that most other dogs! Often time other vets who don't know about out breed can make big mistakes. For example- we run very fast for short sprints. then we sleep all day. We don't have much energy. Then we go to the vets and they hear we have a heart murmur. They take x-rays and learn we have a big heart. All the signs point to heart disease. Many healthy normal greyhounds are on heart medication that shouldn't be. Other cool things about us: Our blood gets super thick after we race. The lactate in our blood goes so high it becomes "Incompatible with life." When we race we take a deep breath and then hold our breath while we run! We are strictly anaerobic! We also have high red blood cells, low white blood cells, low platelets and test low on thyroid levels. That is all normal for us! Many healthy greyhounds are also on thyroid medication. You can see how that would confuse vets who don't have a lot of experience with us. After the lecture, we went back to the hotel to get lunch. Daddy bought me a cheese burger. I ate every last bit of it. We had a quick lunch and then went back to the expo. I went back to the Greyhound Friend's booth and rested. Later dad took me to day care and mom, dad, and Thor, Teddy and Ripley's parents went and play miniature golf. After they went out to dinner. After mom and dad came back from dinner we went to a social event at the Hauser Winery. They had a band concert! I enjoyed listening to the music. What a fun day.

When mom got up Sunday morning I knew we were leaving. Mom started packing all our stuff. I was very sad. I wanted to stay longer. I wouldn't even eat a cookie. Mom and dad did take me to one final event though. It was a fun run. I ran down to the end, turned around and went back to the start. Everyone was calling to me and some people had to catch me and bring me back! I was just playing with them. It was a long drive home. I am back now and eating dog food again. It is good to be home but I wish vacation could have been a little bit longer. Mom said not to worry. We have our hotel room all ready for next year!

Wednesday was a very exciting day! We left to go to Greyhounds In Gettysburg! I knew something was going on when mom and dad brought up the suitcases. I was very excited this morning. It was a long drive. We left our house at 8:22 and arrived at 4:30 this afternoon.Mom and dad always stop at several rest stops so we can stretch our legs and do our business. One of the rest stops was right after we reach Pennsylvania. When I got out of the car I saw another greyhound. His name was Argos. He was going to GIG too.In fact my mom just made friends with his dad on Facebook!!Small world. We traveled together on the highway for awhile but then daddy had to stop to get gas for the car.I am here in my hotel room now and I am relaxing.Daddy is taking a nap because he is tried from driving.Mom and dad will be going out to dinner soon. Mom will give me my dinner before they leave. I will try and make a diary entry every day we are here.

Thursday we got up early and went to the outlet malls. They rolled out the red carpet for us greyhounds.I wore my costume so they gave mean extra raffle ticket. Mom got a really nice tote bag. We did some shopping at the malls as well.I got a new costume and mom got some new sneakers.Daddy got a shirt and some sleeping shorts. After shopping mom and dad took me back to the hotel room.I was OK with that as I was a bit tired any way. While I rested mom and dad did a horse back riding tour of the battlefield. Then they toured the Jenny Wade house.Jenny was the only civilian to be killed during the battle. Mom and dad came back to the hotel and we ordered Chinese take out. I got a big bowl of chicken! I ate every last bit of it. Then we packed up some blankets and chairs and went to the bonfire! They told stories about dogs that served during the civil war.It was so much fun! After the bonfire mom and dad brought me back to the hotel and then they went back and toured a haunted mansion!Mom said the energy made her, daddy and several others get dizzy!

Today the vendor shopping started.WE walked around looking at all the booths.Mom bought some things. I got a new winter coat! Greyhound Friends was there! I was happy to see Louise and Donna.I went right behind the booth and laid down on a blanket.Louise and Donna let me stay and rest.Mom and dad finished shopping and listened to a lecture. After the lecture I had an appointment to talk to the pet communicator.I told her I wanted to eat people food on vacation.Mom doesn't understand why I won't touch my dog food when we come here.It worked! I got a bacon, cheese and egg sandwich for lunch!! For super I got hotdogs! After a full day of vendor shopping we came back to the hotel for a bit and then headed off to a social. I like the socials.I like getting attention from people and meeting all the other dogs. After the social we came back to the room and mom and dad went to the banquet.Tonight they are doing another ghost tour but dogs can't go to that.I will just get some rest for another big day is planned for tomorrow.

Grandpa's Burial

Thursday was a sad day. We went to grandpa's burial. Grandpa's burial was nice. The priest said some nice prayers and two men from the army folded an American flag and gave it to mom because grandpa was in world war 2. I was happy I had the chance to attend. I couldn't go to the actual funeral because they don't allow dogs in the church. This was at the cemetery. They couldn't bury grandpa right away because of all the snow and frozen ground. I am going to miss my grandpa. Mom and dad stopped by his house afterwards to check on things and make sure the furnace was turned off. I got all excited, went inside and realized that everything in the house was gone. No furniture at all! It was then I realized that grandpa wasn't going to come back home again.
