Arrival Story:
Our 12 year old Tri color Basenji Stara died suddenly and it took 6 months of searching to find our Basenji. Basenjis only come in heat once a year and usually in the Fall or around Christmas. Her breeder was on the show circuit and sold her to a man at a Boston show. She was 12 weeks. He kept her in a crate all day long and complained that she cried so he returned her. We got her the following week when her breeder was on her way back home to NH. We met in a parking lot in White Plains, NY and got our adorable Basenji. She was so tiny (I've never seen a Basenji puppy before) and leash trained and house broken. Because her father is an import from Zaire, she barks a lot for a Basenji (the barkless breed) She also yodels and makes all sorts of sounds.

Bio:
She's sweet, and very lovable charming everyone she meets. She's a food hound but won't steal food or raid the cupboards. Asturia's breeder is unique in terms of kennel names. She doesn't name her Basenjis, she leaves that up to their new families. When I registered her, the name we gave her became her kennel name. Her breeder refered to her as "that little red bitch" because she doesn't want to get attached. At the 2009 Westminister Kennel Show, her breeder was the co owner of the Basenji that won Best Basenji.
