Favorite Walk: Around the neighborhood especially to the park
Best Tricks: Sit, stay, paw, roll over
Arrival Story: Jack was an impulse purchase from a newspaper clipping. We had no experience and no idea how much he would impact our lives. Our son was born five years after Jack joined us. I can reflect back now and realize the mistakes that were made and how difficult it was for our dog to adjust to a baby especially since Jack was"the baby". when I made my first post on dogster. I was a little defensive with some comments made about how a dog is what you make it to be. And how his behavior was our doing. Well of course Jacks behavior and aggression couldn't be my fault---How dare you blame me. Time to reflect ---So now I know better and THANK YOU for the honesty. (see my first post "Breed and breeder suggestions needed for a family with kids.")
Since Jacks passing I have two children. My oldest son has ADHD so I have learned about patience and understanding. I am also a middle school teacher. Boy, do I know about positive reinforcement! I am older and wiser now. I have a plan. I will be prepared. I will be educated. I will visit dogster often for advice on breeds. I would love to be able to offer advice to people who might make the same mistakes I have made. Darn those puppies for being so cute... When our family is ready we will be much better dog owners and hope to make one dog very happy and loved.
I really miss you Jack and your daddy misses you so, so much. When you left us we planted a beautiful tree in your backyard. It's a sunset maple and in the fall the leave turn the color of you coat. We placed your ashes in the roots to give it strengh and make it more magnificent.
