Arrival Story: I knew I wanted a pet dog, I found my love for dogs while fostering some puppies over the summer. I was invited to a huge dog show by someone who was also a foster at the rescue and at the show I bought a "Dog Breed Bible" from a book vendor. When I got home I looked through every single page and noted which dogs I liked. I was limited in choices since my little sister is allergic to dog fur but that didn't stop me! I had never heard about a Havanese until I saw the picture and my mom & I agreed they were really cute dogs! I did tons of research and determined that a Havanese would be a good choice for my lifestyle. I was planning on getting a puppy from a breeder but one day I was feeling depressed so my mom drove me to a local pet store to pet some puppies (good therapy for me!) and huddled in the corner of the pen among the yorkies, chihuahuas, papillons, and poms was a little teddy bear-looking dog. I walked over and started to pet him then asked what breed he was. Sure enough he was a Havanoodle and I had to have him, he was perfect! I went home and begged my parents, while I was at school the next day my mom put "Bo" on hold and we got him that Monday! Bio: Bo has completed these classes at our local AKC branch: Beginning Obedience, Novice Obedience. He is training at home in agility and is doing great! As some of you may know I had surgery for patellar luxation on Friday, April 3rd (2009). The surgery was on both my back legs. I'm home now but I'm not feeling so good. I am on medication 3 times a day, I have to take a pill and some gross oral medication mom squirts in my mouth...YUCK! Anyway I can walk sort of... I hobble around a little bit now. Mostly I am just chilling out in my bed and getting some rest so I recover quick. I can start going on walks in 1-2 weeks and then in 5-6 weeks I can run and jump around! Hopefully all will go well!
