Arrival Story: My human mommy has always wanted a pug but was always out-voted because the rest of the household was partial to large breed dogs. This year she told her parents that all she wanted for her 21st birthday was a pug puppy, and though she fully expected them to say absolutely not, they actually said they liked the idea. With her birthday still a few months away it didn't look like much more than a lot of research on litter due dates, and breed information was going to happen for quite some time, but then, it did! My mommy's parents contacted a breeder in Pennsylvania who said they still had one fawn colored, male pug left for adoption, and that was that... her parents arranged it with the breeder to meet someplace called Dunkirk, NY. My breeder bundled me up all nice and cozy, loaded me into their van, and we were off to meet what would become my forever family.
My human mommy was busy working a double shift, so her mom, dad, and younger brother came to check me out, and were sunk once they saw my little face, the paperwork was signed, and I was off to my home in West Seneca, NY to await the arrival of my new mommy. While I waited her family wasted no time playing with me, showing me love, and introducing me to my two much BIGGER friends Meatball and Ozzy... after about 7 hours with them my mommy was finally home from work and had absolutely no idea I was waiting for her. She came downstairs, saw me on the couch waiting and immediately wanted to play with me... unfortunately she was too cold from the frigid Buffalo temperatures and had to wear gloves for the first few minutes, it didn't take long for her to warm up and then the gloves came off and she and I went upstairs to my new bedroom where I spent my first night!
I really like my forever home, there's plenty of people around to play with me, and show me the love, TONS and TONS of toys, and I have full roam of the ENTIRE house. It took me a couple of months to conquer the stairs and finally be able to make it from one level to another without needing to be carried but now I do it like a champ...I zig, I zag, I run, stairs are no match for me :-D
Bio: * I like to play with toys that are bigger than me
* I have my entire house wrapped around my little paw
* I sleep upside down like a bat, hence the nickname Batman
* I like to suck on my stuffties until I fall asleep
* I had some bad luck during my first year of life...I had numerous eye ulcers, swallowed a loofah, and was splashed by spitting grease (I roamed too close to the oven) and have a bald patch on my head because of it...no worries though, it gives me character AND looks pretty normal because the skin matches the black patch of hair on my head. I figure most of my bad luck is out of the way and things should only get better as life goes on (knock on wood)
* I'm afraid of the hose and water bottles because my Unkie Jay torments me with them
* I LOVE LOVE LOVE bonfires
* I'm all-in-all a giant goofball
Howl-o all! My mommy is quickly realizing that I, Puck the pug am no dummy! A couple nights ago when she came to bed she found quite the stash of my toys because I couldn't decide which one I wanted to sleep with, she let me keep them all in bed. Well, last night she came to bed and again found quite the stash of my toys, but since I had one in my mouth she decided she was going to put the rest on the floor...I didn't like that one bit. I jumped off the bed and one by one brought all my toys back up, then I laid down, with at least one part of my body touching each toy, and went to sleep with the original toy back in my mouth...once again, I got to keep all of my toys :-P
My mommy's semester is quickly winding down. She took a final on Friday in some class called Mental Health Nursing, I don't know what it is, but it sounds a little interesting to learn about the mental stuffs. Anyways, she needed a 55% on that final to pass the class, and she came home quite stressed that she didn't get it and if she didn't get it she can't graduate in a couple of weeks :-( Most people, myself included maintain she did fine but she's in full blown panic mode and grades don't post until Tuesday. I'm hopeful though that when they do post on Tuesday it will be good news for my mama! She also has another final in a couple of week's, in her main nursing course...that one she needs a 43% on to pass. She's starting to study and stuff today so that even if mental health went poorly, the major one goes well and then she'll just have to repeat the mental health class next semester :(...I'm thinking happy thoughts for her!
We are quickly finding out that little kids scare me. I don't get aggressive or anything with them, I just kind of run away scared. Mommy has been watching her pseudo nephew Gavin quite a bit these days because of his mommy and daddy's work schedules, and while Gavin is a very sweet little guy (he's only ONE), I just get too scared when he moves toward me or tries to pet me and I run away! It's nothing personal, mommy says I just am not used to things being on my level. As Gavin grows I bet I'll love him all the same as everyone else!
Alright well I gotta run, mommy is waiting for Gavin to get here plus trying to study a bit so I'm gonna grab my favorite toy and take me a good nap!
Happy Birthday to me! Today is my fourth birthday! Oh boy oh boy oh boy, that means mommy has to spoil me and do whatever I say...erm, well, maybe not really but I did get spoiled. First thing this morning mommy showed me all kinds of good things for myself, she gots me all of my favorite yummy treats, and took me on a car ride, and everything! I feel a little old though, I can't believe I'm already four, I feel like it was just yesterday that I was just a wee little man, and now here I am, fully grown and "old" already! Anyways, mommy has school today (yup, on a Saturday), but she promises to spoil me anyway! I got to run the backyard without my tether even! There's still plenty of time left in the day, I'm sure I can con her into playing with me, feeding me more treats, and at least one more tetherless potty break too!
As the holidays approach I would just like to take a moment to wish all of my pals a safe and happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all get to be surrounded by loving families, and have good times, and even enjoy some yummy food like I know I will! And for all of you whom have humans going out shopping on black friday, I hope they get all the good sales, stay warm, safe and dry out there, I hear people can get pretty crazy when it comes to cheap stuff!
Alright well mommy has to head to school so I've gotta jet! I think I'll go nap with grandpa for a while!!
Well, as I'm sure most of you have heard there is a nasty hurricane coming up the East Coast. Hurricane Sandy is going to take an unheard of left hand turn around New York, New Jersey later today and bring much of the East Coast some turmoil, and yup, my area in Buffalo, though so far from the coast itself is listed as being in the "danger zone". It's being predicted that we will get 65+mph winds, 3" of a rain, power outages and a good amount of flooding over here, and the closer to the coast ya get, the worse it gets. As I sit here watching the news with my mommy I see that New Jersey and New New York City are already experiencing flooding, and Sandy hasn't even made landfall yet! Stay safe everybody over there! My brother Ozzy, family, and I wish you all the best! As for me...I'm not looking forward to having to deal with potential power outages, and I LOATHE the rain and wind...ahhhh!
Halloween is this coming Wednesday (hopefully the weather cooperates) and this makes me pretty happy. This means I get to bark like a fool at the kids who come to my door...maybe I can scare them off and keep their candy! I really like seeing all the kiddos in cute costumes, some scary, some adorable! Sometimes I wish Halloween could come more than once a year!
My mamie left to spend a month in Texas yesterday...perfect timing if ya ask me...she left 40 degrees, rain, wind, and potential snow, to head to high 70's and sunshine! What was she thinking leaving me here?! HELLO! I hate the cold, I loathe wind and rain, and say that awful word SNOW to me and I die a little on the inside, why was I not packed in the suitcase too?!
I also quickly want to extend congratulations to the San Francisco Giants for their World Series Title! It's not my Yankees but I'm happy for them anyway!!
Alright well I better go! The rain is really starting to come down now and I still gotta go out there to do my business!
Stay safe everyone on the East Coast! Hope you all make it through this storm alright!!
