Arrival Story:
My human mommy has always wanted a pug but was always out-voted because the rest of the household was partial to large breed dogs. This year she told her parents that all she wanted for her 21st birthday was a pug puppy, and though she fully expected them to say absolutely not, they actually said they liked the idea. With her birthday still a few months away it didn't look like much more than a lot of research on litter due dates, and breed information was going to happen for quite some time, but then, it did! My mommy's parents contacted a breeder in Pennsylvania who said they still had one fawn colored, male pug left for adoption, and that was that... her parents arranged it with the breeder to meet someplace called Dunkirk, NY. My breeder bundled me up all nice and cozy, loaded me into their van, and we were off to meet what would become my forever family. My human mommy was busy working a double shift, so her mom, dad, and younger brother came to check me out, and were sunk once they saw my little face, the paperwork was signed, and I was off to my home in West Seneca, NY to await the arrival of my new mommy. While I waited her family wasted no time playing with me, showing me love, and introducing me to my two much BIGGER friends Meatball and Ozzy... after about 7 hours with them my mommy was finally home from work and had absolutely no idea I was waiting for her. She came downstairs, saw me on the couch waiting and immediately wanted to play with me... unfortunately she was too cold from the frigid Buffalo temperatures and had to wear gloves for the first few minutes, it didn't take long for her to warm up and then the gloves came off and she and I went upstairs to my new bedroom where I spent my first night! I really like my forever home, there's plenty of people around to play with me, and show me the love, TONS and TONS of toys, and I have full roam of the ENTIRE house. It took me a couple of months to conquer the stairs and finally be able to make it from one level to another without needing to be carried but now I do it like a champ...I zig, I zag, I run, stairs are no match for me :-D

Bio:
* I like to play with toys that are bigger than me * I have my entire house wrapped around my little paw * I sleep upside down like a bat, hence the nickname Batman * I like to suck on my stuffties until I fall asleep * I had some bad luck during my first year of life...I had numerous eye ulcers, swallowed a loofah, and was splashed by spitting grease (I roamed too close to the oven) and have a bald patch on my head because of it...no worries though, it gives me character AND looks pretty normal because the skin matches the black patch of hair on my head. I figure most of my bad luck is out of the way and things should only get better as life goes on (knock on wood) * I'm afraid of the hose and water bottles because my Unkie Jay torments me with them * I LOVE LOVE LOVE bonfires * I'm all-in-all a giant goofball

The vet, Allergies, a Pimple, and Thunder Snow

Wowzers has quite a bit happened since my last post on here. For starters I should begin with my pimple. Early last week I woke up with a bump on my muzzle which didn't concern my mommy because I get them often and they always go away on their own with time. Well, my mamie didn't like mommy's wait and see approach and gave her this long, drawn out "you're ignoring something abnormal and letting him suffer" lecture...mind you my pimple wasn't bothering me at all, just my itchy paws were. After about five days of mamie yelling at mommy, mommy finally gave in and took me to the vet against her will. Mommy was already annoyed about taking me in for something stupid but you know what didn't make matters any worse? I'll tell ya! The vet took one look at my cute little face, giggled out loud and said "this is a pimple, a warm compress and time will fix this"...yup my mommy was right, just a pimple on my little face, no need to be concerned. So, while we were there the doctor gave me a good once over (this way the $40 exam fee was more justifiable than just charging it for a pimple) and started me on a new allergy medication to try and stop my paws and booty from itching so bad. Hopefully this medicine works long-term because nothing else they've tried me on has helped more than temporarily but because they're pretty positive it's environmental allergies (like to wet grass) there's not much else they can do besides medications. So far this one seems to be working okay but it's only been 2 days!

Well these past two days have been quite touch and go weather wise here. One minute you look out the window and it's clear, the next minute you look out the window and it's a full blown blizzard. Last night my mommy was out at BINGO with one of her friends and all of a sudden it got very icky outside so mamie text her to warn her, then by the time she left about half an hour later it was completely clear...the roads were bad, but the weather was clear, and today has been more of the same, I couldn't tell you what's gonna happen next...in fact, we're even getting thunder and lightning with this bout of snow...yup THUNDER SNOW! The local sirens have been going almost non-stop since early this evening, and the wind is really whipping around out there, which makes for a very unhappy pug, I can even hear the plow drivers in the distance working on some of the driveways. And what's bad about this? I still have to go outside and do my last business before bed time...what am I gonna do? I'm gonna freeze, and I'm gonna blow away! I know we've been pretty lucky this winter with next to NO snow at all (which for Buffalo is quite impressive) but can we please have spring time soon? I'm ready for sun spots in the driveway, bonfires, and lazy days in the yard!

Alright well I'm off to snuggle pug under my covers and get warm for a bit! Hopefully I'll be able to write again soon!!

It's Leaving!

Well, I am thrilled to say that all of the snow we just got on Friday is on it's way out already! The weekend was bitterly cold but these past two days have both been in the 40's (it's already 40 here now and it's only 8am)...that's plenty warm enough on it's own to melt the snow but then once you add in the rain we're getting the snow is melting super quick! Problem? Well the problem with that is MUD. UGH, muddy paws every time I have to go outside and do my business, and mine are always especially bad because after I do mu business I excavate the lawn, so I clumps of mud stuck to my piggies.I guess I'll take the mud over the snow though.

In other news I have to vent my frustrations with my beloved hockey team, the Sabres. Dear Boys: PLEASE PLAY BETTER!!! You're breaking my little puggy heart, so much promise to start this season and now you can't even carry out the basics of a hockey game let alone actually win. Move over Lindy, I'm gonna coach this team, and I'll coach them to victory...no mercy!

My mommy starts school tonight. She's really not looking forward to having to find time to work by day, go to school by night, study, do clinical paperwork and sleep but I'm sure it'll happen somehow. She can come home and sleep after school, do paperwork and studying during the day at work after her patient care is finished...I bet the people wouldn't mind seeing as they usually make her sit down and watch tv or read the paper anyway!!

Alright well, I'm still a sleepy puggy so I'm gonna go curl up and take my morning "nap" til 10:30 as usual!!!

It Has Arrived

Well, it took until January 13th but it appears it has arrived. Yes, seemingly winter has hit Buffalo. By the time I woke up this morning the ground was covered in that nasty, cold, white stuff. There's not a whole lot out there (though there's enough to make me angry) but it's still falling now and it's pretty windy so high drifts and poor visibility are the killers today. Mommy had to call off of her last two hours of work after getting stuck in the driveway on her lunch (she figured once she got her car in the garage she wasn't moving again.) My brother Ozzy is in his glory, he after all, is a big and furry husky, built for this weather. He ran what we like to call the Husky 500 over and over and over again out in the backyard. As glad am I am to see him be excited, I'm ready for the snow to leave again...mamie even had to shovel me a spot just to go pee.

In other news I'm waiting anxiously for my Unkie Jay to return home from a doctor's appointment. Last night at work he apparently hurt himself, he was reaching to grab something in the warehouse and something in his back popped so loudly his co-workers heard it loud and clear. It was quickly determined he was in too much discomfort to work and he was sent home (against his wishes), he admits to be incredibly sore but insists he could have worked through it...he honestly believes the doctor is going to deem him okay to work tonight, even though he couldn't even drive himself to the doctor. Unkie isn't too big a fan of me (or so he says...I say he just doesn't want to have to revoke his man card for loving such a small dog) but I still worry about it...hopefully all is well.

My mommy starts school again on Monday! I don't know how she's gonna do it...work 31.5 hours a week, and be a full-time nursing student, but she's very determined, she says she's got this and I know when she puts her mind to something, it happens!

Well, now that I know my mommy is staying home safely, and I have a few hours until the snow is due to start up again I think I'm gonna go hit the outdoors to do my business quick and then curl up with my favorite toy and take a nap! Hopefully I'll woof again soon!!!!
