Arrival Story:
We were looking for an Alaskan Klee Kai and we were recommended one kennel relatively close to us in Western Pennsylvania. She was the lightest-colored peach fuzz ball out of her mother's litter of four. She comes from a long line of CH. and Gr. CH. dogs, and her daddy is a Ch. himself. Her dam started on a show career but hated it so her owner has decided to wait to finish her if she mellows out after this litter. Both were beautiful dogs with great, easy-going friendly personalities and a great match for one another. We drove a bunch of hours to meet her with breeder at a mid-point on a very cold winter day. We got to meet all of Lilith's already-reserved brothers and sisters, but we brought home the most perfect little ball of fuzz. Lilith's UKC registered name is Suska's ko-NISHIKI no Lilith.

Bio:
Besides the need for constant socialization, Lilith is an "easy keeper". She is quiet, friendly, and patient. She will wait patiently in her crate or play pen without complaining, no matter what is going on outside of her crate. She was very easy to housebreak. But she is also a whirlwind of energy outdoors, and Luna's best friend. She has begun to warm up to Lantis too, and now all three of them play together all the time. The mornings are never quiet anymore, and we love it. It's been close to one year since she's come to live with us, and she's grown up into a dark-grey and white Toy sized AKK with an adorable kink in her tail. If you couldn't tell, we are absolutely in love.

Adjusting to a crazy home...

I'm home.

Mom picked me up this morning. I'm achy all over.. mom knows why, of course.

Doctor Roberts at UPenn even gave mom a mini lecture using radiographs of me, because she wanted to know what was done. He is an awesome vet. So patient and so understanding.

I had another trochleoplasty to widen the groove and my joint capsule was also repaired and pulled back into place. This time I also had a tibia crest transposition done on both sides. They basically vertically cut the crest of the tibia bone almost completely off, and shift it into the correct placement and held it with 2 metal pins on each side.

The doctor said that that would prevent my joint capsule from wanting to be pulled crooked, because apparently my LEGS were a little crooked.

Mom also saw the "after" radiographs. Everything is so straight and orderly now. It's really cool to see those scans. It almost wants to make mom go back to undergrad school to get a degree in some biological science so she can go to vet school, hah!

Anyway, I am also shaved down (again). They also shaved my back this time because I had two epidurals.

I'm gonna go back to sleep for now.

Back to the hospital...

I'm starting to feel like hospitals are my 2nd home. IN FACT, most doctors at the hospitals love me because I'm so calm and tolerant. Dr Roberts at UPenn veterinary hospital checked my teeth, stretched my displaced knees, flipped me on my back, etc. I didn't complain or struggle one bit. Dr. Roberts said that my niceness has made me many fans at the short time we were there for our diagnosis.

Well this morning I went in to have my knees done again. The doctor called mom around 4PM and told her everything seemed to be going fine, and he would call us again around 7:30AM tomorrow to let us know if I could be picked up.

I hope all the well wishes really pay off this time. I don't want anymore surgeries. This is my 3rd time to be put under and operated on in a little over one month.

No good news.. :(

I went to another hospital today. The doctors had a hard time finding my patellas since I have some swelling going on.

But they did a radiograph after they gave me a quick shot to make me sleepy.

Both my knees are luxated again. I have permanently luxated patellas, Grade 4.

In a way, it made mom happy to know that finally there's a reason I wasn't walking right. There is no way to fix a Grade 4 without surgery. Mom scheduled the closest slot they had.. that's Friday.

Friday I get dropped off and operated on.. again. Except this time, they really will shave my back too.. darn! just went all my hair started to come back normal...

The good thing is that the hospital will release me on Saturday. We have a lot of trust in this hospital. A great university hospital.

Oh, but I am not mad at our original vet. He is still good and we would still recommend him. Even our current vet said nothing probably was done wrong, but it can be anything from the individual dog to how after care was done. Our original hospital refunded us our money, too, without any hassle, and they are very sorry and very concerned about Lilith.

Here's to hoping after Friday I can actually start walking again. It's been more than a month since I could walk on 4 feet.

BTW, tomorrow is my birthday. I turn 1 year old on the 17th.

Happy birthday to me..

Mom is really sad tonight for some reason, though.
