Arrival Story:
I adopted at the age of 2 years from a local shelter where he had been taken by the family of his former person who had passed away. He had been adopted out once but was promptly returned the next day due to severe separation anxiety issues that the people where not willing to work through. He was subsequently placed on the 'unadoptable' list and was with held from the public and as a result stayed at the shelter for months. I had gone into the shelter one afternoon and in seeing the kennels empty assumed they did not have any dogs at the time. I live in a small town and they actually have periods where there are none... but lots of cats. When I inquired within they confirmed that they indeed had no dogs available. But when I put my name on a waiting list and specified an older or special needs dog, the girl at the counter got very excited and informed me that they did have this one... the rest is history.

Bio:
What can I say. A little patience and lots of lovin' and you get it all back in spades. Rhudi is an absolute love bug who has taught me more about being a human that I could ever teach him about being a dog. He's patient, kind hearted and gentle. Loves long walks, belly rubs and cookies... but who doesn't. He's made me a stronger person and I owe him more than I could ever repay.

Mmmm... chipmunks!

Oooo... spring must be just around the corner cuz I saw a chipmunk this weekend.

It was Boo's birthday on friday so Mom took us up to our place in the bush and we spent the day just wandering around. Boo got to go off leach cuz he stays pretty close to Mom and me. Mom won't let me off because she doesn't want me eating chipmunks. I was just gonna lick it to get a taste - honest! It's his birthday so I'll let it slide.

Mom wrapped up a big rubber football she bought him and told him it was from me. I'm such a giver. Boo tore off the wrapper, sniffed it and then walked away. Well... if he's not going to use it I'll just hang on to it for him. The giving just never ends with me.

We had a big dinner when we got home and I noticed a decidedly larger portion going to Boo. I said nothing. Instead I waited patiently until after dinner when he was settled in for a nice nap and under the guise of a friendly face wash I removed several bits that were stuck in his beard. I mean, it can't be hygienic to leave that stuff in there - right?

Give, give, give... I'm such a good boy.

Aahh! The shame of it all. I was completely ignored today by a passing stranger with a pocket full of cookies while my brother Boo not only got a free handout - he got his nose kissed too! Totally unfair.

Sure - make a big fuss over the guy with the bad hair cut while prince charming over here sits pretty. From what I could tell being Irish seemed to be the key, but Boo aint Irish. Maybe I'll try a multicultural approach... "Hey - I'm part Chinese and North American!! Egg rolls and cheeseburgers anybody?"

At least the strange lady's beagle thought I was cute. She's kinda cute too, but a little young for me I think and just a tad on the pushy side.

I was feeling a bit dejected until we got home and Mom slipped me an extra cookie that Boo didn't see. Justice is served.

When's dinner?

Oh oh! That's Gonna Leave A Mark...

Mom was in the kitchen last night making dinner which means it was time to go to work. My job, should I accept it - and I did, is to scan the floor and remove any evidence of her culinary leavings (onions excluded). I finished up and dropped by where Boo was sleeping on his bed to see if he perhaps found anything as well. A thorough check of his beard revealed nothing but a stale bit of cookie from earlier in the day. I ate it. In appreciation for him sharing I washed his face and inside one ear.

I figured dinner was gonna take a while so it seemed it was an opportune time to get in another 'how to play' session with the big guy.

We were having fun mouthing and pawing at each other and scooting each other around the room. I guess it got a little out of hand 'cause Boo got a hold of one of those flappy sharpei folds in my neck and started tugging. Not hard or viciously just playing like I showed him. The one little thing I forgot about was that Boo has some broken teeth in his mouth and some of them have been left with pretty sharp edges. One tug too many and it was "OUCH! HEEEEYYYY!" He let go in a hurry when I yelped and did one of his speed sits. He looked at me with a big "What?" written all over his face.

Mom had come into the living room just as Boo let go. "Uh oh" she said
"That's gonna leave a mark" She took me into the bathroom and washed this red stuff off my neck, put some fizzy stuff in a bottle on it, washed that off and then smeared this stuff in a tube into the little hole that was now there.

I think Boo felt bad because he kept trying to sniff and lick it while she was working on it. He licked off all the tube stuff and she had to put more on.

I feel ok. I think it startled me more than anything but as soon as she was done with the bathroom stuff I headed into the kitchen to check how dinner was coming. Smells done Mom.
