Arrival Story:
My heart dog Randy had passed away not long before and my mom thought she would like to have another dog. We looked through the paper and saw an older lab cross offered for free. We decided just to go and see what it looked like. Well we got led into a backyard where there was a large Bernese Mountain dog. We certainly knew this wasn't the advertised lab. Then the lady called out "Silver" and this hugely overweight barrel of a dog came trundling over. She was so friendly and loving.... The lady didn't want to be getting rid of her since she was such a well behaved good dog. Unfortunately Silver had been dumped on this lady because her original owners were going through a bitter divorce and said when all was final they would come back for the dog. A number of months passed and they never came back. Now this poor lady was pregnant and already had a very large dog. She just couldn't give Silver a forever home. She was so sad to be losing her she asked if they could bring her to our house after they had all said their goodbyes to her.. It seemed to take forever but finally they came. Poor Silver was heartbroken. She must have looked out the front window for a week. She desperately wanted them to come back. The first night I asked my mom if she could sleep with me for just one night. By the next morning I asked my mom if I could have her. I think this is what my mom had in mind the whole time... Silver was perfectly well behaved, it ended up she was almost too well behaved. I really think her first owners were very strict and may have beat the spirit out of her. She didn't know how to play, and didn't even leave your side when going for a walk. She really had to learn how to be a dog. Thankfully over the years she got over this and was a perfect companion to me and a true doggy embassador. She was even a boyscout mascot for a number of years!

Bio:
Silver sadly passed away at the approximate age of 16. Her body never failed her she was physically so healthy right to the end. She ended up getting a form of doggy alzheimers and when I knew in my heart that she was no longer happy and starting to feel frightened I held her in my arms as the vet helped her cross over the bridge.. I miss you Silver but know I will see you again! :)
