my mom wanted me to thank everyone for the well wishes, she saw all the candles lit for her and all the zealies and she cryed again, but these were happy tears, she is so touched and realizes just how many care and she will be fine, she will start the chemo October 1 and will go for 6 weeks and then have surgery to remove the tumor, it is in the top right lobe and can remove the lobe, then after healing for 6 weeks she will undergo 6 more weeks of chemo and hopefully by then she will be C free. we are praying very hard that mom will beat this and spend the reat of her life spoiling us as we have come acustom to. Mom is a strong person and she can do this, she has all us furs on her side and the way we look at it this will give her a chance not to work so much and spend her time healing with all of us, this we so look forward to.mom does alot of crying when she thinks we dont see but we pups know everything and we love to lick the tears from her face, we know we make her so happy and we will continue to do so.we love our mom and she loves us.Mom say's when she is well again she will return full force to dogster, we let work and illness come in our way. we are sorry.we miss the trips and hanging with the gang but mom is tired alot and has to lay down alot, and trying to keep her weight up so she dont look like a halloween decoration, BOL, thanks to our friend Chelsea's mom for being my very good friend through this, I love you Becky please know this.

Update:

Teams from The Humane Society of the United States and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture moved the more than 200 dogs rescued from a Pennsylvania puppy mill earlier this week to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex.

Some have been transported to area animal shelters and rescue groups, while others will be moved in the days ahead.

"The future looked pretty bleak just 24 hours ago for these dogs, but now thanks to The Humane Society of the United States and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, they have been given a chance to live out safe, healthy lives," said Stephanie Shain, senior director of the Puppy Mill Campaign at The HSUS.

"We hope this rescue opens the eyes of consumers about the importance of checking out the facility of any breeder before you buy a puppy."

"We are grateful for the outpouring of compassion and the level of charity that we have seen in this rescue mission," said Jessie Smith, Pennsylvania's special deputy secretary for Dog Law Enforcement.

"Without the unwavering efforts of The HSUS, the Pennsylvania State Police and volunteers from across the state, the dogs we are sending off now for adoption might still be living in conditions no dog lover would consider acceptable.

Because of all the groups involved, these dogs and the families that adopt them will now have happier lives."

This rescue mission ran smoothly due in part to the outpouring of support from the Pennsylvania State Animal Response Team and several central Pennsylvania County Animal Response Teams.

These response groups are an integral part of the commonwealth's capacity to respond to both human-made and natural disasters that affect animals.

The dogs are being checked thoroughly by a team of veterinarians before being transported to shelters and rescue groups in the region.

More than 200 dogs have a new "leash" on life thanks to the diligent efforts of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and The Humane Society of the United States, who came together to rescue the animals from horrific conditions at a Lehigh County puppy mill.

"These animals were subjected to years of constant confinement and denied loving human care and socialization. The Humane Society of the United States is grateful to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for enforcing the commonwealth's Dog Law and coming to the aid of man's best friend," said Sarah Speed, Pennsylvania state director for The HSUS.

The HSUS was called in by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement to assist with this case.

The Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement investigated the Almost Heaven kennels, and took permanent custody of all of the dogs due to the owner's failure to appeal his recent license delisting.

Custody of the animals will be transferred to The HSUS once the dogs leave the property. The HSUS is providing animal handling assistance and overseeing sheltering and transport of the rescued animals. Much-needed sheltering supplies were provided by PetSmart Charities®.

When rescuers arrived at Almost Heaven they found a disturbing scene. The dogs, mainly small breeds and designer mixes, were being housed in a variety of small pens, wire crates and kennels throughout the property.

Responders found typical puppy mill conditions; many of the dogs were suffering from skin and eye infections as well as other medical ailments. It is likely that many of these animals had never known life outside their cramped enclosures.

Rescuers are working to remove all of the animals and transport them to a nearby emergency shelter set up by The HSUS. Once at the shelter the dogs will be checked by a team of veterinarians and given any necessary immediate medical care. The HSUS and local volunteers will care for the animals while they recover at their temporary home.

The dogs will soon be transported to rescue groups and humane societies throughout the region, where they will be made available for adoption.

This operation is made possible in part from funding provided to The HSUS by the Kenneth and Lillian Wilde Estate, who created the Wilde Puppy Mill Task Force to rescue animals from abusive puppy mills.

The emergency shelter is located at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. Representatives from The HSUS and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture will be available for interview at the emergency shelter after all of the dogs have been transported

we hold our dogs lives in the palm of our hand

I am bit depressed today, I just dont get why some people get a dog, just stick with a gold fish I write this for all my dogs but espically Morgan because she is my most fragile dog, and deserves the best,
I hold her life in the palm of my handI see so many stupid people get dogs, than a year later say it's to much work or they don't have time they work and the dogs alone all day. They should of thought of this before they got it. I work, I have 8 dogs, someone at home lets them out for me. When I come home I spend all night with them. It's ok to work, it's ook to have a life, it's ok not to spend every minute of the day with your dog, they get use to routine. when you get a dog, it is a commitment for 15 years or hopefully more, I get so many dogs that are a year up to 5 years old, the owner no longer has time, how sad these dogs have feelings and to be torn away from family becaused they are no longer wanted, I try to make a difference to them, I try to explain that their better off with someone who is gonna truely love them. Do they understand, I hope so. I give them the love they need till they get a new home. my point is we hold our dogs life and future in the palm of our hands, I"ve made all my dogs as happy as I possiably can for the short time I have them, it's really not asking much, they deserve the best I can give or I just dont deserve them.I would never part with them ever.I love them more than anything else in this whole world, and I know everyone understands that, others just call me crazy, maybe, crazy in love with my dogs

tonight mom held me and gave me lots of hugs and kisses. she's been saddened by all the bad news of our doggie friends going off to the bridge. One very close to us left, Chelsea, she was my good friend and even though mom never met her they had a special bond. Mom is hurting for the family. Chelsea's family has been through alot, and mom feels helpless that she cant and dont know how to help them.
mom is afraid of looseing me, mom seems to dwell on what might be not what is. mom is just very sad right now, she will heal her hurt. I am just glad that we have our time now together, and we can make the best of every day, because we just don't know what tomorrow will bring. cherish every day that you have.

Just a dog

Just a Dog (for everyone that has owned a dog, you will understand)

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.

Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a human."

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog." just smile, because they "just don't understand."

Authored by Richard A. Biby

To mom we are not just a dog,
we are her soul, companion, we give purpose, unconditional love, we are the first thing she's shes when she wakes, the last thing she see's when we go to bed. we ask no questions, we are loyal, trustworthy, and true, and mom loves each and every one of us with all her heart.

friday the 13th, I went to the vet for my complete blood work up and urinealysis, Tuesday I got my results, great news only found trace amounts of crystles, left kidney functioning at 100% and right only 20% loss, hasn't changed in few years. my blood levels are almost normal, my phenobarbital level is low, but the vet said as long as I remain seizure free he won't increase it. This is all great news, the best in almost 4 years. I even lost a little weight, which will help with my pancreatitis. This all makes mom very happy.

puppy mill

this place I came from Almost Heaven in Emmaus PA, he no longer can buy dogs. he has been temporaryly been shut down. In Aug. 2008, he was raided, Animal planets animal cops were there to film it for future episode. they found a freezer with 65 corpes, over crowded cages stacked on top of one another filled with feces and urine. 800 animals in all, including ponies, guiena pigs, dead hamsters. dead guiena pig bodies litter the property. Nursing dogs with no puppies. 56 dogs that day were taken that were sick and he agreed to turn over another 100. As of Aug. he has 447 counts of animal cruelty charges, Max. fine is $2,500 per count,
In 1988 he was fined and served jail time for 32 counts of abuse.
In 1989 he was banned from the AKC, for 30 years but then in 2004 changed to life time ban.
In 1990 he was convicted after 10 puppies died from lack of sustenance.
In may of 1991 he was fined for operating unlicenced kennel in Weissport PA
In June 1991 fined for unlicenced kennel in Allentown PA.
In 1999 he opened Almost Heaven Kennels under alis AKA skip Eckhart.
In 2001 my mom came up, bought 2 pups, she didn't know of this man. Skip came recomended so mom trusted him, while there she saw dogs running free, they could not bark, he had the vocal cords cut. How sad. mom bought Jolie and Morgan first, Morgan was the only surviver of the litter, mom fell in love, Morgan was a meir 11 oz. when mom brought her home at 10 weeks old. Jolie came with Morgan. than a year later mom found out the horrors of this cruel man and recieved a phone call about Roxanne. well the rest of her story is in her diary.mom is furious about this, this man has caused great pain in her life, because Morgan is not a healthy pup, mom has almost lost her a few times and it's all his doing. It is not fair that Morgan have to go through what she has, she is a great little dog but can't experience what a reg. dog can, May he rot in hell for what he put me and all the other dogs through. My Aunt also has some dogs from this place Almost Hell.
