Bio:
Kelen is a 4-year old female deaf/blind double blue merle mini Aussie. She is a product of careless merle-to-merle breeding where 25% of the puppies are born mostly white and deaf and/or blind. She has just a little hearing and vision, but uses mostly touch signals, vibrations, and scents for training. Kelen weighs 18 pounds and is about 14' tall. Kelen was going to be euthanized by her breeder as a puppy, but was 'rescued' by a woman in PA. She ended up spending four years almost exclusively in a 3'x5' outdoor kennel, with almost no interaction with people or other dogs. She was finally rescued from that outdoor kennel in November 2008 and is being temporarily fostered in Ohio. Despite her rough start in life, Kelen is an AMAZING mini Aussie! She is very friendly and social, especially with people and is gentle with children. She is working on her dog skills, but is not aggressive at all (just ignores other dogs for the most part). Kelen has now been housetrained, is learning to play with toys, learning house manners, and is learning to enjoy spending quiet time in her crate. She is heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations, spayed, and has had her teeth cleaned. Kelen will be transferred to a foster home in New York City on January 17th. She is available for adoption in the tri-state area with the assistance of White Angels Hope Dog Rescue.
