Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: June 14th 2008
Likes: Cuddling on the dog pillow with her big sister Amber

Pet-Peeves: She doesn't like the theme music on the Weather Channel, she'll howl if you leave it on for more than 10min.

Favorite Toy: Orange Street Hockey Ball, her pink stuffed pig, and anything that Amber currently is playing with

Favorite Food: She only gets dog food and puppy biscuits, but she will drink your tea if you leave it unattended and its not too hot

Favorite Walk: Just the backyard on a leash right now, her pads are still not tough enough for the walks on salted snow covered roads yet

Best Tricks: She now can ring the jingle bells at the back door when she wants out, and will steal socks in pairs!

Arrival Story: After searching for a "sister" for Amber for almost a year (we were very specific in what we were looking for, we spotted Ruby (previously Meaghan) at an SPCA shelter. We immediately drove approx. an hour to the shelter and put in our application. Unfortunately, someone else had applied about an hour prior, and was, about a week later chosen as the successful applicant.
We were heartbroken, as we knew she was perfect, just what we were hoping for, and told the shelter staff that if anything went wrong with the adoption to the other applicant to call us right away.
Well...a week after the adoption, the applicant returned her to the SPCA as "potty training" was not going as successfully as hoped and that she was more than a handful) Gee, a 4 1/2 mth old beagle that had been neglected/abandoned by her first owners, then at the SPCA for almost a month until healthy enough to be put up for adoption, hmm what did he expect??? As beagle owners for over 25 years WE knew what we were in for...and looked forward to it!
We drove back to the SPCA the next day, had a meet and greet with our Amber and our Granddaughter and brought Ruby home that night.
Now, 6weeks later, she has gained 2lbs, she is sleeping thru the night, no accidents in the house, just loves her new "sister" and the rest of the family, and is really adjusting well. Our two little "gems" are getting along famously.

Bio: Ruby was a 3 mth old tri-coloured beagle who was rescued by the SPCA after a call about an abandoned puppy in an apartment building. She had been locked in a too-small crate, undernourished with overgrown nails that had affected her feet. She spent about a month at the shelter being fed /loved and brought back to health by a very caring staff before being able to be put up for adoption.
There were several applicants the first adoptable day she was posted on their site, and we were the second applicant. They awarded the adoption to the first applicant, who returned her to the shelter after a week. They called us and we brought her home that week.
