Arrival Story:
I had been looking on the internet at different shelters and Jack a roo's picture came up and he looked just like my April, a Australian cattle dog mixed breed, that I lost from cancer in 2002. I didn't have any idea I wanted another puppy because Josie and I were best friends and had our hands full with the cattle. So once I saw his picture I called the shelter but they told me someone from Oklahoma was coming to pick him up so I asked about one of his littermates and someone from St. Louis was coming to pick him up. Anyway I was happy they were finding homes but kept looking on this site everyday and noticed that Jack a Roo's picture was still there but his brothers was gone. So I called again and the people were so happy and remembered me and said the people from Oklahoma found another puppy so Jack a Roo was still up for adoption and so my friend Linda and I drove 50 miles to the shelter and picked him up. He was the stinkyest puppy and had the fattest tummy ever but you would not have never gotten him out of my arms again for anything!!! My friend called him Jim Bob because he reminded her of a little Missouri hillbilly. So when I got him home we cleaned him up and took him to the vets which we treated him for worms and the poor little thing was so infested, I have never seen so many full grown worms in such a little body its a wonder he didn't starve to death. Anyway he bounced back and got rid a his huge tummy and his fur got shiny. He was instantly part of the family and I don't know why I waited so long to get a puppy even Josie loved him but she always kept him in line. He loved the farm and loved doing the chores and was on his way to being an excellent cattle dog with Josie's help of course. He was so handsome, and had the most beautiful markings he would have been a beautiful dog but his life was cut short at 6 months olds with that awful disease. I'm just glad that we had the time we did with him and even though his life was short it was a very happy one and he will always have that special place in my heart.

Bio:
The end of April 2009 Jack a roo became sick and was diognosed with Dysautonomia. We prayed he would get better but he was a sick little boy and we couldn't watch him suffer so on May 5th, 2009 we helped out little man cross over to the Rainbow Bridge. You can find out more about this crazy disease hitting the midwest by following this link. The mortality rate of this monster is over 90%. http://www.cvm.missouri.edu/neurol ogy/Dysauton/dyshome.htm We Love you and will miss you Jack.....You left us to soon =O(

To my little Jack a Roo!

I have not wished you a Happy Birthday yet as they put down you day was Oct. 8th but I figured we will use the whole month as your Birthday because you are that special to me. You would have been 1 year old this month and how I miss you so!!! You are a very special boy and left us way to soon but I'm so happy you have so many special friends there, at TRB. I have not been on Dogster for awhile but I do talk to you daily at our little cemetery where your squirrel lights up for you every night! I guess you watched how Logan and Kelsey helped your Dad bury Buff Kitty right in front of you and Flopsy and we found him a beautiful white rock from the creek that I will paint his name on when the rain stops. I know you and your friends will make him welcome there and introduce him to the other kitties that are there. We really miss you Jack and wish you were here to celebrate your birthday with us!!!

I Love you,
MOM

Today it has been 1 month since my mom kissed me good bye and I know she is still sad that I am gone. She is making a special page for her granddog Flopsy who is here with me now that crossed over to TRB on June 2. I know she is happy that Flopsy got to see April her puppy before she got Josie, that died of cancer at 4 years old. April was 2 months older than Flopsy and the two of them were wrestling buddies. They truly were best of friends and when April passed on Flopsy grieved for weeks. Now you should see the two of them play!!!! They let me join in too and of course Bart and Katie two more of the special puppies that mom had.
Please don't be sad mom were all happy and together here with all our new friends and we will be here to meet you when you come and it will be like old times.
I Love you Mom and Dad and of course Josie and Bandit!!!
From your special little Jack a Roo

My mom's granddog, Flopsy

Today my family had a very sad day my mom's daughter, Jen and her 3 grandkids, Ethan, Logan and Kelsey and their dog, Flopsy a beagle were headed down here for a day at the farm. I have all their pictures in my photo album.
When they started out from Kansas City to here, about one and a half hours away, Flopsy started yelping and lost control of her bowels and by the time Jen stopped the van, Flopsy had fallen between the door and the seat. Once she opened the door Flopsy was limp and had died, most likely of a heart attack. We are so heart broken and their family in shock to lose her in an instant!! She would have been 11 this Thursday June 4.
They went back home and waited for Jen's husband, Kevin to come home from work and they got all Flopsy's favorite toys and bed and all started for the farm again, everyone in tears.
This has been really hard on them since they have not been here since I crossed over and they were sad I was gone but mom took some wood over to Uncle Buds and he built a pine box just like he made me and they buried Flopsy right next to me.
So I would love it if you could say prayers for their family and welcome Flopsy to TRB like you did me.

I Luv you all, Forever grateful, Jack a Roo
