Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: February 14th 2004
Likes: Tearing fabric, sleeping on my bed and not his cot. Dead things and rolling in them. (fish, rats, birds, jellyfish, etc).

Pet-Peeves: When one of us leaves the house/car. He freaks out and thinks we are leaving him. Dog food. Doctors office.

Favorite Toy: We have a few toys for him but he love fabric, laundry, and my husbands smelly socks the most

Favorite Food: Anything but dog food. His diet consists of 70% dry dog food but I like to mix in a little pasta or meat. Then he will gobble it down. Royal Canin is our brand of choice

Favorite Walk: On the beach. That is where he finds the most disgusting things to roll in. Then he thinks he smells good. He also likes to walk past the dog store and take a whiff.

Best Tricks: Not come, not stay, not sit. He is too smart for me. He's a thinker. Although his best gift to me was being house trained. Only took about 2 months.

Arrival Story: arriving in this foreign country, my husband and I decided to get a dog to keep me company while he was at work. It had been some time since I had owned a dog and wanted another. My first dog, Daisy (cockerspanielxdauschund) was a beauty but passed away over 10 years ago. We surfed the web for breeders and found the perfect one. Francesca (his first mom) had beautiful dogs and a beautiful kennel. We picked up Yuma from the breeder and he cried all the way home (which was a 2 hour car ride:(

Bio: Yuma is a purebred and we have shown him at some dog shows. However the main reason we go to these shows is so that he can become a well adjusted dog around other dogs. Living in a city its hard to find areas that he can play with other dogs. He has won a couple of best in breed and best in shows. One prize was a DVD player. That came in handy. House training him was a breeze. The first while he would pee in his room. We gave him free roam of a spare bedroom (tiled thank goodness). Then we discovered training pads. He would pee on those but not poop. When he was ready we would take really long walks so that he would be forced to pee outside. If it was a short walk he would wait until he got back in the house to go pee. After discovering that he could pee anywhere, well its like we let the cat out of the bag. He has his favourite peeing areas and loves to pee under park benches. Its quite funny to watch him squeeze under and then lift a leg. We are looking for a special someone to keep him company during the times that we have to leave him at home. Most likely will be a female min pin.

A note for anyone visiting any other house. Find out if there is poison laid out, and if there is ask to have it in a place that animals (dogs or cats) or kids can't get at it. My vet recommended that rat poison should be put in a tube deep enough that the pets can't get at it and the mice can.
Boy was I scared. My husband and I were visiting his Aunt's house and we decided to bring along Yuma. Yuma is a fairly well behaved dog and loves to play. He tends to go for the toy box where there is lots of stuffed animals. I try to keep him away from it, as the toys are for the visiting grandkids. Although every once and a while, Yuma will steal one and try to shread it. While I was drinking my tea, Yuma was off in the corner playing searching for something. I had no idea what was in his mouth, but knew I had to find out. My Aunt said it was probably just a piece of lettuce but I knew otherwise. It was a packet of rat poison. Auntie screamed bloody murder. She yelled at Yuma to give it up. He dropped it only because he was so scared of that scream. My Aunt could not stop saying she was sorry. We had all hoped that he didn't consume any. But I did not want to hope. I had to know. One hour after having the rat poison in his mouth, we took him to a vet and they administered an injection that would make him vomit. He threw up everything in his stomache. Luckily no poison was found. The doctor told me that it is still possible that some could be found in his blood. Only time would tell. Poison for rats and mice tend to take days to work. So we were sent home on an empty stomache and a prescription for vitamin K. So far so good. He has not shown any signs or symptoms of poisoning. The poison makes the animal hemorrage from inside killing them within days. I don't think I could bare losing my baby. It has been 4 days, so I believe that he is going to be ok.

Well it's official. I am no longer a puppy anymore. Mom says that when I get to be 2 years old, I will not be babied any more. So that's it? No more sleeping on the bed? or sucking up when I'm bad? Well, it's not going to happen like that. I'm the boss and what I do, goes. I'm the man of the house and when I want to go for a walk, I want to go now. Not in 5 minutes. Now. Ok so mom is a pushover. She loves me so. I am 2 years old so I guess its time for the terrible 2's? haha.

Wow what an experience. I'm not sure if I want to repeat that one again. Mom took me on a trip halfway around the world. We left from Rome, went to Toronto and ended up in Calgary. I was so excited at first on the way to the airport. Couldn't stop barking in the car. I thought we were going to a new park or something but I should have known better after seeing all those bags mom and dad were carrying. When we arrived it was so hot. I couldn't stop panting. Mom gave me some water and put me into the carrier. Of course I was to big to ride with her, so she put me in cargo. (what a way to travel!) I was taken away into an elevator and that was the last I saw of her for 10 hours. I was so sad. I thought she had given me away. The plane ride was not so bumpy but I could feel my moms prescence and her thoughts. (I knew she was real nervous before she left me.) We arrived in Toronto and it was hot there as well. I thought I was going to die from the heat. I was taken inside where it was airconditioned and I got to see my mom again. Phew what a relief. She didn't leave me. I was taken to customs where my mom had to throw out my food. I was a little hungry. Then she took me for a short walk to stretch. I hadn't gone pee at all during the flight. Then back into the air conditioning and then she left me. I was so mad. I barked like crazy to try to bring her back but she wouldn't come. I cried most of the way to Calgary. By the time I arrived, I was so tired and sad that I couldn't bark much when I saw her in Calgary. She took me immediately out of my box and I couldn't contain my joy. We went for a walk and the air was so different I had to smell it more. Another short trip in a car and we arrived at grandma's house. I was a little scared at first but we have settled in ok. Well I hope I don't have to do that again for some time. Mom says pops will arrive in a couple of months. I am so excited to see him. I miss him so much. Next time I fly, I'm going to get a seat with my mom even if I have to sneak on.
