KJ & Kiana's liver failure & possible cause

First I am so very thankful my brother is home. He has a ways to go, but it is so grrrrreat to have him here. But it is with much sadness I report that our housemate Kiana is in critical condition tonight. If there is no change by tomorrow she will be making her journey to the Bridge to join her sister, our beloved Angel Kiska.

She was admitted last Friday with the same condition as KJ. They started her on the same treatment as KJ. Within the first 24 hrs she got worse & has steadily declined since then. Their is just too much damage to her liver. Our vet wants to wait until tomorrow praying that somehow she will turn around. There is not much hope at this point. She is so very sick & my aunt does not want her to suffer any more. If there is no improvement we will be saying goodbye to her.

I have been asked what caused this. We have no proof & are not accusing anyone. But after all possible explanations have been exhausted, we can come up with nothing but their food. They were all eating WolfKing by Solid Gold. All 4 of us, KJ, Kiana, Jetta & myself became sick at the same time. All of us started 2 weeks of meds for what our vet thought was a bacterial infection. Jetta, Kiana and myself got better. The medicine was not working for KJ. He stopped eating & was admitted to the hospital. Liver failure. Less than a week later Kiana stopped eating & was admitted. Liver Failure.

I think it is important for people to know this & they can make up their own mind about what they feed. We just want you to be aware of what happened to our famly. By the grace of God, I am alright, the medicine worked for me & my aunt's dog Jetta. I only wish it had worked for KJ & Kiana.

Mom talked to the company & they told her they had no reports of any kind. They suggested a possibility. If at any time during transport from one facility to another if the food was left on a hot loading dock in the sun it would break down the natural preservatives & ruin the food. They were polite & understanding but without a sample of the food their hands were tied. How we wish we had even a small bit of that food to test. We now wonder what is safe to eat? It seems any and all food can become contaminated. Is nothing safe these days?

We are thankful that KJ is improving daily & hopeful for a full recovery, but our hearts are breaking for Kiana...Pawlease say a prayer for her & her family.

Oooh dearest Rain... I'm so sorry this has happened to your beautiful family. I'm so glad KJ is better but the news of Kiana is heartbreaking. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family that Kiana is better today.

I passed from liver failure and know how horrible it is. I am so sorry to hear about this and pray for everyone's well being. We will keep your family in our prayers.....how scary to think this may have been caused by your food....it really does make you wonder...is nothing safe?!

We are praying for Kiana and her family....Such a bettersweet situation...At the same time we are happy to hear that KJ is doing better..

my family and i are all praying for everyones recovery. we are so sorry to hear about your sister kiana but glad to hear that kj is feeling better. we hope and pray they both make a full recovery. im sure you will help your family stay strong and keep your spirit surrounding all of them. best of wishes-
