Arrival Story:
People seem to think that our neighborhood is the perfect place to abandon a pet that they no longer want, that's how Barney entered into our lives. Someone "dumped" Barney in our neighborhood, they did so with the knowledge that Barney was blind, plus he had heartworms really bad. You could see the marks on his collar where there had been a tag and it had been removed. We tried for two weeks to find his owners, but of course, they did not respond to any ads. After two weeks I took off Barney's old collar and put on a new one, then I told my husband that if they came for him now they were gonna have to take me to court to get him. "Cause I had no intentions of ever giving him up to anyone. So Barney spent the rest of his life with us and he was a true "BLESSING".
Bio:
Barney was very sweet and loving. He loved people and all animals. When we would let our rabbit have some time running around the backyard Barney would sniff him out and they would lay down and nap together. Whenever Barney would sniff out a toad in the yard he would stand and bark at it, he just couldn't figure out what it was. So I would have to go lead him away from it so it could go on it's way. He never hurt them, just barked at them with that famous beagle ARRROOOOO. Even though Barney was blind he soon learned the way to the park so when I would put his leash on he would take me to the park instead of me taking him. I really miss him, he was a real "Sweetheart".
