Arrival Story:
NOTE: As of 1/15/09, we discovered that Ban-Jo is a Bagle. He''s part Bassett and mostly Beagle. At any rate, he is still totally loveable and adorable and he is totally our "child" now. We kinda like that. Banj is feeling secure, safe and happy - just ask my soon-to-be-replaced carpet. ::hehehe:: Ban-Jo ("Abandoned Joe") found me while we were at my parent's farm for Christmas 2008. He had a huge belly, all his bones were showing and he was starving. I was out working the dogs - my sister's dog, my parents' dog and our Ruby - when he showed up. And never left. I - WE - fell in love with him and we had been thinking about getting a companion dog for our Ms. Ruby. This one fell from heaven into our laps. Ban-Jo has issues. He has worms (working on that with the vet) major ear mites (also working with the vet on that) and he has a HUGE problem with men and cars and creeks/lakes. We are working on those. What we thought was a puppy is in fact an adult Beagle with Shepard mix. He has a Beagle body - and nose! - and German Shepard coat. He is also an incredibly adorable love, he worships Ruby and me and respects the cats. My hubby - well, we are still working on that. He is starting to thrive and feel more confident. I finally got the little guy house-trained and he is losing his massive belly thanks to the vet treatment and the rest of him is filling out nicely. I am very saddened to know that he was so neglected, abused and felt pain and suffered. But I'm ecstatic that he's here with us and that he is feeling like he's - he's family. 14 cats, 2 dogs, 1 cuddle bear (husband). Life is good.
