Arrival Story:
We lost our english cocker spaniel last October (2003)... and in spring 2004 we decided it was time for a new dog. My dad wanted an airdale, but mom didn't want a big dog in the house. So we looked through a dog book and dad pointed out the breeds he liked..including the giant schnauzer. We finally agreed on a miniature schnauzer. I used to work at a local pet store, and I knew they had just gotten a few mini schnauzers in...I know bad us for buying from a pet store..but all doggies need homes. The little girl schnauzer was already sold, but when I saw Jack I immediatly fell in love. We took him out to play in a play room, and he was jumpin around like a little jack rabbit. He was six weeks old!! Two days later we brought him home!!

Bio:
Jack is a real cutie. He won third place in the smoochie pooch contest during the Oakville Humane Society Dog Walk and Show, when he was approx. 5 months old. He is scared to death of big doggies, like german shephards and labs...but he just loves all schnauzers. We met a giant schnauzer at the dog park once, who "protected him" for the entire hour, haha! We have crate trained him...and he sleeps in his crate at night. He graduated from Puppy School in September where he learned to sit, lie down, stand and roll over on command. When we brought him home from the petstore in June he had kennel cough, and the pet store paid for the vet bills and medication in full. His little sister unfortunatly didn't make it.

I made a friend!

When mommy took Ted and I to the dog park yesterday, I actually made some doggie friends. I don't like the big dogs, cause they're really scary and try to squish me, but I like them if they start off slowly. But these two dogs are the same size as me. 2 American Eskimos....Teddy is 4 years old, and Suzie is 3 years old. They're both older than Ted and I, but they were lots of fun. Mommy played ball with us...and I liked racing after the ball and trying to beat Suzie and Ted. After a while I got tired and just lay in the grass to get some sun. I'm starting to like the dog park more now. I hope we see Suzie and Ted next time we go! Teddy and Suzie even came to protect Ted when a cockapoo tried to pick a fight. It was so nice of them. and gosh it's confusing with two Teddys!!

Ted has been really scared of the dog park lately after he got attacked by a greyhound that thought he was a rabbit. It must be tough being so little.

Mommy noticed how nice and white my teeth are. She told me they're so white that they glow. We also met another black schnauzer like me. We were both born in the same month of the same year. Maybe we're brothers and don't even know it!! The other schnauzer was a rescue though, his owners picked him up at the pound. Mommy doesn't understand why anyone would want to get rid of a schnauzer!

Happy Birthday Jack!!

Jack turned 1 years old on May 14th, but at the time he was boarding at the vet!! Poor Jack was away from home when he turned a year old.

he's a big boy now, and is teaching Teddy some lessons. When Teddy is bad, Jack puts him in his place!! His leopard toy was finally tossed in the garbage. Now he has a stuffed squeeky duck that he really likes! Unfortunatly, with me moved out of home...I don't see him very much anymore...and he is getting a bit fat, as mom doesn't play with him and run with him and walk him like I did. I'm hoping that he'll come visit next week, and I'll take him for a long walk in my new neighbourhood.

The new picture, was taken three months ago, when he was 10 months old. It was still cold out, and he had his sweater on. He loves having his sweaters on, he likes to play dress up...but he still hates his halter and his leash. I don't know why, but when he sees the halter come out, he runs and hides!

I want to get him a bath towel robe for after he has his baths. Somone sells them on ebay, but I want to find them in the stores near me.

Jack is still very much a people dog, he likes people more than he likes dogs. He thinks he is a person.

Jack got quite the surprise about a month ago...when we brought a new puppy into the house. He was very mad at my mom for about two weeks and wanted nothing to do with her. He was also scared to death of Teddy. He is coming along great now. For a little while I do believe Jack went through a bit of a depression, as he didn't want to play, and all he wanted was to lay on my lap and get tummy rubs. Now he's running around and playing with his new best buddy!! He gets upset when Teddy is upset, and they like to play tug o war!!

Jacks favorite toy is still around, though you really can't tell what the heck it is anymore. and if Teddy touches it, HE'S in BIG trouble. I'm sure that toy will be around until there's nothing left of it. As it is, the squeeky part doesn't work and is hanging outside of the toy.

He also decided he didn't like his eukanuba anymore. *sigh* so we made a mixture of chicken, rice and peas for him to eat. He likes that so much better!
