Arrival Story:
We adopted Molly from a small family owned pet store. She was just a small little puff of black and white fur. Her litter was owned by the manager of the store. Her dad's name was Stubby and she definitely got her short little legs from him!

Molly was our baby and we were so blessed to have her in our lives. She felt that she "owned" our street and barked ferociouly every time the UPS truck would trespass! She would lay her head on my shoulder when I held her and put her paws around my neck. Oh how I miss those hugs! When daddy came home from work she would bark and cry at the same time until I let her out to race to his truck to greet him. Then she would prance/bounce back to the door ahead of him.......she was so happy to have him home. In the evening she would lay on the foot rest of his recliner while he watched t.v. If I came near the chair she would growl and show her teeth to keep me away from "her daddy". She went nuts if I kissed him. No hugs were ever allowed in our matter who was hugging who Molly would jump up in the middle of the two people and push them apart. All loves were to go directly to her!!! The pictures of Molly on the Americana blanket are when she came home from a week in the animal hospital. She got very ill and we thought we were going to lose her here at home the first day of January, 2003. We got her through the night and the next morning we took her to the vet. Blood tests and x-rays made them think she had a huge mass in her stomach. I just knew I was watching my little baby die before my eyes. There was talk of putting her down, but then the vet said he would do exploratory surgery and if it was cancer, as they suspected it would be, then they would just put her to sleep. I waited all day and finally at 4:00 the vet called and said Molly had made it through surgery, but they still didn't know if she would survive. Her gallbladder had erupted and she was full of peritonitis. Praise God, our little girl did survive. As you can tell by the pictures, she was still a weak little baby for quite a while after that ordeal. In April of 2004 she started urinating blood. The vet said she had bladder stones and they had to come out. Blood tests said she would survive the surgery. I had reservations, but we have to trust our vets....right? She did survive the surgery, but died 5 days later of renal failure. No one will ever convince me that her kidneys not functioning had not shown up in the blood tests. The vet was $500.00 richer and our baby suffered a week longer than was necessary. Every day I see the look on her face the last time I saw her. They were carrying her to the back of the kennel and she looked at me and her eyes said good-bye. My baby knew she was dying. What I wouldn't give to hold her one more time. We never even got to kiss her good-bye. Mommy and Daddy and Mindy love you Molly-B!

This is a hard week for Mommy. This is the week one year ago that I had my surgery and I was so terribly sick. Next Tuesday, April 12th, will be my one year anniversary at the Rainbow Bridge. I watch her look at my picture on the refrigerator......she pets it the same way she used to pet me. Oh how I miss those ear massages she would give me! I miss Mommy and Daddy too, but I am young and free and healthy here at the Bridge. Someday we will all meet again. I just wish they wouldn't feel so sad. I hope they can feel my kisses in the wind when they are outside working in the yard.

Tribute To A Best Friend

Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound....
then I remember,
It's where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours....
your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.
