Arrival Story:
My husband and I went into PetSmart to purchase some Christmas gifts for our other two dogs and cat and happened to walk near the back where a shelter had pets up for adoption. We saw Piper sitting patiently in her cage as close to the front as possible, watching, waiting. We walked by several times but eventually made our purchases and left. While at lunch, we were both quiet initially. One of us finally started talking about her and we agreed that we would adopt her if she was still there. We both secretly ate sort of fast so we could hurry back. She was still there, in the same position as we last saw her. We asked if we could walk her around the store, and she was perfect! We were able to talk with her foster mom, who cried, which made us leak a little too. Every year after that, we take Piper back in the hope to see her foster mom again. We have only seen her once, the first year we had her. The foster mom immediately recoginized her and Piper was so excited! Piper still gets excited and has a funny bark when we take her to that section. It is as if remembers the cages and is telling people to let the dogs out of the cages.
