Azuki passed over to the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday 18th August 2012. He was indeed my best friend and we will miss him dearly.

Azuki lived to the ripe old age of 15 and lived it to the full every day. For a dog who had an uncertain future in the beginning due to a heart murmur, he was able to have a wonderful long life full of happy memories.

Happy birthday to me! I'm 9 years old today. But, I have to spend it in the crate. Hopefully mommy gets me something nice when she goes shopping today! :)

All cooped up!

Monday when my mommy got home I started acting funny and couldn't walk right. She and Dad took me to the vet right away. I hate that place! They always touch in places I don't like and always give me nasty shots! I wasn't any better on Tuesday so they had to take me in again. This time the vet told them we'd have to make a long car journey the next day to Chester because I have a spinal injury.

I was quite tired and didn't mind the 2 hours in the car but when we got there I knew immediately it was ANOTHER vet! This vet gave me a very thorough inspection and I screamed to high heaven. This vet had never met a shiba before and I was determined to let him know that I didn't like the situation. The vet told mom and dad all the possibilities of what might be wrong with me and they looked a bit worried. I stayed at the vets where they gave me yet again another injection and then put me in this machine called an MRI so they could scan me and find out what was wrong. Mom and dad came back and heard me crying in the recovery room so knew I'd made it through that horrible ordeal. The vet showed them the pictures and to everyone's relief I only have 2 slipped discs. One in my neck and one in my back.

So, now I have to stay in my crate (my den) for 1 month. That means no walkies, no jumping, no stairs, no nothing! I can go in the garden to do my business and that's it! I'm not going to like this one bit, especially when I feel better. But, I suppose mom knows best. I'm getting lots of special treats and attention, but of course I deserve that! I'm a shiba after all! I'm still not telling how it happened. It's a secret for me and Cassey!

I don't know what happen! I just went a little crazy. Too many smells in the house from Cassey putting my hormones in over drive. I am sorry that I didn't let anyone in the house get any sleep for a couple of days. Dad took me to the dog kennels so that I could get rid of my stress and hang out with other shibas for a while. I'm now back at home and all those strange smells have gone and I can relax again.
On the first walk I cut my paw on some glass so I've got a bit of a limp but it is healing.

Ahhh... it's good to be home.

Weekend with the Family!

Wheewww! The weekend is finally over and I can get some well needed rest! Don't get me wrong, I do like when we get company over but it's always nice when they go. I was most dissapointed with mom and dad as we dogs just didn't get the table scraps we normally get at such gatherings. The first day mom made a lamb stew and luckily Ellie and I got lots of carrots and the trimmings from the lamb. But that was it! It cooked all day and we didn't get even a bite! How unfair is that? The next day the family left after mid-day and didn't return until the evening. I swear I could smell delicious things on them. Then out of a big white box came cake. And again we were left out. Mommy mumbled something about it being human treats and not for dogs! I still begged mom for even the slightest bit and even dragged her in the kitchen many times to show her that there was plenty of cake left for me! Oh well... there is always Christmas coming! We have just had our morning walks and we are happy and content on the window sill and perhaps a nap on sofa a little later.
