Callie Girl

Doggie Dynamics:

Sun Sign:
April 15th 2000

Napping on the comfy sofa, going on walks, nipping at people's heels------BAD DOG!

Door bell, UPS man.

Favorite Toy:
A ball that lights up and plays alien sounding music when bounced.

Favorite Walk:
Around the lake and our neighborhood.

Best Tricks:
Lip reading and sign language.

Arrival Story:
I discovered a pickup with a litter of puppies needing a home at the mall parking lot. The sign on the truck read, "Free 'git 'ya one!" Hmmm!! The owner then appeared and handed me the cutest little pup and said with his drawn out Texas accent, "This here's the one you need. I'm about to take these pups to the shelter if I don't give them away today." I fell in love with little Callie. I had NOT been planning on adopting a puppy that day, but the gods made sure it happened, and I'm so glad it did!

Callie is the smartest dog I've ever known! She understands a huge vocabulary. Many times when I don't want her to know what I'm about to do, such as leave without her or give her a bath, I'll whisper or spell out the words. That doesn't work, though, because she can read lips, and decipher the spelling of a lot of words. If I say, "There's a C -O - W" , she'll shoot like a rocket for the door to see if there just happens to be one mooing around in the backyard. haha

Another New Sister

I have a new sister dog named Marlo. Well, she isn't new anymore, as she's been with us for a whole month now. Before she came to live with us, I'd see her running up and down the street in front of our house and it would drive me CRAZY! I'd run to the front window and bark loudly at her, then go and whine and tell Mommie about that homeless, wild white dog that runs past our house every day. Mommy would say to me, "it's OK, that's the white doggie".

One day I went outside in my backyard, and there was Mommy and Daddy with White Doggie in MY YARD! And they were giving White Doggie a bath and then they gave her MY FOOD and MY WATER to drink! I was GGRRRRRRRRR..............VERY upset!!! I could not figure out how White Doggie was suddenly in my back yard, and then she was in MY house! As far as I was concerned, White Doggie was supposed to be out on the street, running fast away from me barking at her. She stayed in our house, slept in our bedroom, and was getting lots of love from Mommie and Daddy. Grrrrrrr.........not good.

The next day, White Doggie had a new name. Mommie told me to call her Marlo. She certainly smelled better after her bath, and she and my other sister, Bindi, were really getting along great. I discovered there was a great advantage I had overlooked. Bindi no longer bothered me to play with her. She had Marlo now. Hey, this was wonderful!

So, now Bindi, Marlo, and myself all guard the house and the yard together. We run to the front window whenever we see any strange dogs go by. It's good to have another sister to help with that job. I can rest sometimes now, and let Bindi and Marlo take over my duties whenever I'm feeling lazy.

I've been on Dogster for quite a long time now, but am just writing my first diary entry. I've been surprised by my Mommy and Daddy with a new little sister dog, named Bindi. And boy what a surprise it was! Our little dog, K.K. had recently passed away. She was with us for 17 years. Well, for me, that was my whole life which has been 7 years.

Anyhow, this Bindi dog appeared, and she has added such excitement to my life. She somehow has taken over the house, chasing me around in big circles from the couch to the bedroom. It's fun! I had forgotten how much fun playing can be! I guess I'm going to like sharing my stuff with Bindi. Mommy and Daddy seem happy, too, so we're all becoming a new family.
bye for now! Woof!
