Arrival Story:
As many of our pals know, we do dog rescue/foster. Maggie came to us through a note posted at the vets office that I work at, "free toy chihuahua". Seeming odd, we called and checked it out. When we arrrived at this nice little house, the breeder greeted us and took us to her. Thinking she would be in the house we started in the direction of the front door, but turned abruptly to follow into the back yard that was full of dog pens and a chicken coop. Maggie was in one of the dog runs racing frantically back and forth. The breeder stated that they tried to breed her, but she only had 2 pups, one of which died. They did not want to breed her again for fear that it might kill her, so they decided to get rid of her. So, she grabbed her and tried to hand her off to us. Maggie fought, growled, barked and tried to bite as she was being thrust into my arms. We said we would take her, despite her seemingly aggresive temperment, for running around outside in a dog pin was no way for a 5 pound chihuahua/min-pin to live. The first few days were rough. This little sweetie was scared of everything, including us. Her growling and snarling ended in about 24 hours, but the submissive urination took a little longer and house training, we are still working on that.

Maggie is doing great now! She runs with the other dogs, plays a little with the cats, but lives for her dad! She loves my husband and would like nothing more than to be curled up inside his hoodie forever.
