Arrival Story:
Our home was too empty. We recently lost our beloved Jetta to cancer. She was our first cat ever. We lasted 10 days without a kitty. I went to visit the wonderful people at the Watertown (WI) Humane Society. They had so many lovable kitties needing homes. But there was this one really scared little female. The volunteer handled her with big leather gloves. My heart when out to her. She was found on the mean streets of Wisconsin in February... in a very cold winter. I asked to spend some time with her in the bonding room. She was so fearful of everything. I sat on the floor (me- in my suit) and put her on my lap. She just stayed and hung on seeming to need my warmth. I melted. We adoped her as soon as was humanly possible. We brought her home and for quite a while, she would only come to us if we were laying down. Times have really changed. She's a bit more assertive, and actually seems to run the place. We're delighted that she's grown less fearful. She even came down to greet the ladies on Thursday night. She just showed herself to them for 30 seconds, then ran away. But it was a huge step for her.
Bio:
Shyla is a natural born hunter. I love animals. We are sometimes at odds about her role with respect to other animals. We feed and water birds. Shyla knows she is NOT to hunt birdies. That said, she's brought a live one in the house. She let it go and it was up to me to get it to fly back out. Her most recent escapade was to bring in a chipmunk (she carried it like a kitty baby) and take it down into the family room, let it go, and chase the poor thing. Needless to say, she is on double secret probation.

If you know me, then you know that Whigger is my favorite kitty fiance. Almost a close second is Gravy. I love gravy on my food. Its wonderful. Sometimes I just sing about gravy.
Anyway, I have one goldfishy left. Mom & Dad asked me what I wanted to name him. Gravy, that's a perfect name, don't you think? anyway, I'll try to get a picture of Gravy and put it on my page so you can see him.

Its my birfday and the celebrating has started. yesterday, Mom brought home some Gold fishies for me. They're in the big bowl on the floor where I can see them. Each time Mom took at the camera, I walked way from the fishies. Hey, I'm a cat. Annoying people is what we do! So there are not pictures of me and the fishies (yet).
Tonight its canned salmon for dinner and lots of love and attention
Oh, and I went to Wyllow pet hospital to see Dr. Yelk the other day. I sure had Mom all worked up. This time, I was calm and she was a mess! MOL! We talked them into giving me the shots I need next year so I don't have to go back for 3 years!!! Mom's afraid my heart will quit if I get too stressed. I say, what ever the reason, keep me out of the Vet's office (although I have to say that Dr. Yelk was very sweet. She even called me Punkin!).

I was home with Mom yesterday and we heard some strange noises. Turns out a young black bird hen came down the chimney, and down and out through the water heater vent pipe. She was Flapping around MY BASEMENT!
Mom's such a goof. She put me in the bedroom and closed the door tight. I have one rule in this house: No doors closed tight. But she did. Then she closed all the curtains except one and opened the basement door. Turns out, this bird brain (the bird, not Mom) was banging into one of the windows that was closed. So Mom went into the room with the panicy bird and opened that window, and the bird was gone.
Now I ask you: Just how am I ever suppose to find out if birds are Creme filled if she won't let me have one???? Hmmmmm? Mom's on my list today!
