A Diary Pick of the Day. Thank you Dogster. I promise not to get the big head. Mom thinks I should write a book and earn my keep and then she could retire. I'll work on that Mom.

It's going to be cooler tomorrow - can't wait.

Shake, Rattle and Roll

Sister Priscilla made it through the Fourth of July without too much trauma but Friday night did her in. Mom was upstairs saying goodnight to grandma and came downstairs to go to sleep with us. Priscilla was shaking something fierce from some loud noises in the alley - firecrackers. Mom tried to comfort her but that didn't help, even food did not distract her (although of course she ate it). We always sleep with Mom in the bed, but Priscilla crawled underneath it. Mom and I were amazed she could get her fat butt under there. Mom gave her more kibble but she went right back under and was still there when we woke up this morning.

Mom is wondering if one of those Thunder shirts would work for her. Mom did give her a Benadryl. She has one a day because of her itchy toes. Maybe she gave it to her too late.

But macho me, I just rolled with the noise and didn't let it affect me. Mom was very proud of me.

Next year Mom plans to patrol the alley and throw water on those noisemakers. Nobody messes with her crew.

Dogster has selected me for a diary pick of the day, what an honor, for just doing what comes naturally - gabbing. Of course Priscilla had to spoil the moment and say I've always got my mouth going. Sisters, Yeesh. Sometimes they can be annoying.

Priscilla will come crawling to me later today when she needs some comfort from the loud noises. She's a shaker. But, the macho boy I am - they don't bother me much. Hope I don't have to eat those words. But this morning it's nice and quiet and a beautiful morning.

Uh oh, gotta run, have to help Mom water the garden.

Have a fabulous Fourth!

It Wasn't A Dream

Woke up this morning and found out it wasn't a dream. My new brick sidewalk was still there. I am stoked. This is going to be so cool in the winter as Mom struggled to shovel the old sidewalk as it wasn't wide enough for the shovel. And my delicate little toes got cold all the time. This will be awesome. Mom keeps looking at it. I think she likes it too.

Can life get any better than this. Mom's heading out on errands for a few hours. So Cylla and I can get a few more zzzzz's in and then I'll be all charged up for whatever the day holds. Mom says I need to help her in the vegetable garden today. I'll be there Mom.

Have a wonderful day my friends.

Mom Did You Make This Just For Me

We've had big excitement in the backyard for the last two days. Men were digging holes and laying brick. We now have a brick sidewalk that goes all the way down to the garage. I finally got to test it out after everyone had left. I like it. So I christened it. Yup I put my signature on it if you catch my drift. Mom had a fit. Hey Mom I'm just putting my stamp of approval on it. Sometimes Mom's just don't understand the rules of the road.

So Mom is thrilled with the new walkway. The old one was separate big squares with 3 inches of dirt and grass between each square and not level and when it rained it was a mess. Mom said it cost a pretty penny but anything to keep my toes clean. Yea, Mom loves me. Oh you too Priscilla.

Now we have two more days with Mom Yay!

Life Is Good

What a great week. I met so many new friends because of "Dog of the Week" honor. Thanks Dogster. It was a hoot.

I had to go to the vet and stay for the day on Wednesday for them to watch me because Mom got worried. She thought I was having a reaction to my flea and tick application. The Doc said I was okay. The techs were very nice to me all day and I was embarrassed at the end of the day when I had to have a butt squeeze from my friends. Yeesh - and a toe trim and then I got to escape to Mommy's arms. Boy was I glad to get out of there. But when Mommy thinks I'm acting a little strange she doesn't take any chances. Bonus - Mom took me for a walk on the way home. Don't tell Priscilla.

Priscilla said she missed me but I saw that grin on her face. She loved having the run of the house all by herself. I can be kind of annoying at times. She's kind of laid back and I'm the Energizer bunny.

Not a bad week and now Mom is home for 3 days. Yippe!

All I can say is WOW! Dogster has named little old me "Dog of the Week". What an honor. Thank you Dogster.

And a shout out to my friends Sammy Jo, Toby Jo, Cory Jo, and Joey Jo. They sent me a beautiful flag for my honor. Mom and I have been working out in the yard all weekend and have not been on the computer so didn't realize until we got the Jo Jo's flag that I was Dog of the Week. Hey, thanks guys for letting me know.

Imagine my handsome face on the community page all week. They put one of my silly pictures up.

Hope I make some new friends.

Poor Priscilla, now she has to be nice to be all week.

I'm stoked.

Something Crawled Under Our Gate

We were outside late last night helping Mom dig up the garden with Grandma supervising. All of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw something white over by the front gate. Well of course I was there in no time barking up a storm with Priscilla right next to me. Mom just thought we were barking at Pappy next door and looked up and said to be quiet and get away from the gate. You should have seen the look of surprise and horror on Mom's face when she realized whatever we were barking at was inside the gate with us.

Well Mom has trouble with her knees and she's a senior now so she doesn't move to fast, but she sure did last night.

By the time she got halfway there she realized it was a small Chihuahua. I had never seen one before. Priscilla does not tolerate dogs and Mom always keeps her away from other dogs. So Mom tried her best to try to get us away from this little guy. I confess I did not help. I was just non stop barking. Mom finally was able to pick up Priscilla and put her in the house and run back to me and the "white creature". By the time she got ahold of wiggly me, the creature had slipped back under the wooden gate. Man was he skinny. Mom quickly put me down, went out the gate to see if she could find the little dog and take him home.

She saw the dog but it was skitterish but she followed it two doors down and found it had already gotten home safe and sound. She talked to his Mom and told her about the adventure.

Mom's hoping that this scared the dog enough so he will not do that again and that his parents will keep a better eye on him.

It was fun, and Mom was so proud of Priscilla not attacking the dog. I think because it was so small she thought it was a puppy and she seems to like puppies.

It's Exhausting Being Me

What a weekend we had. We had relatives over for Mother's Day and they played catch with me and I still didn't get enough.

Mom was sick today so she stayed home from work and Grandma came down and played catch with me 3 times. I was over the moon.

I'm plumb tuckered out right now, but if Mom wants to play I'm there. Looking forward to having Mom home for a 3 day weekend. Big Fun.

I'm Everywhere, I'm Everywhere

I had the best afternoon. Mom took me to my very first playdate. It was a group called "Boston Commons" in Edina.

The excursion didn't start out well. I had my harness on and my jacket and I was so excited. I got into the car and it dawned on me. Mom only takes me to the vet or to have my toe nails trimmed. Oh no, what was I thinking. I had to get out of here. But Mom clever minx that she is, was already pulling out of the garage. Well I hate to admit it and luckily there were no witnesses (except Mom) I cried like a little girl. My tears dried up once I realized we had passed the road that goes to the Vet. Now I was intriqued. Where were we going?

Imagine my delight when we walked into a building that did not smell like a vets office. In fact, the smells were wonderful. We went through a gate and I got my bearings and then mirror images of me started coming through that same gate. Was I hallucinating? Ever the curious one, I had to go and check it out. They were pups that looked a lot like me.

Mom was a little apprehensive at first and kept me on the leash for awhile. Of course as this was my first enounter with these facimilies of myself I had to show them who was boss and did a lot of vocalizing. Mom was sure we were going to get kicked out, but I settled down and had the time of my life for an hour and a half. I must have smelled 13 butts. I seemed to gravitate toward the male species and Mom was little concerned about that choice and I chased a gazillion balls. I met a larger dog named Oreo that could put two balls in his mouth at one time. He tried to teach me but as big as Priscilla says my mouth is, it's not that big.

So I had the most wonderful afternoon. Thanks Mom. It was heaven.

When we got home Mom thought for sure I would nap. Surprise Mom! Here's my ball - lets play catch. You should have seen the look on Mom's face. She couldn't believe I was still raring to go.

Mom said if I'm good we can go again in April. Yay!!!!!
