southern dog

We went back to the warm place again, but this time we stayed there for a long time. Mom bought a house. It's a nice house and I like it. there are a lot of lizards to chase, even though they taste gross. It's warm and sunshiney and I love sunshine. there's a big beach that Trinka likes and I like the big porch where we can watch the neighborhood. I had a hard time adjusting,but after a while, I think it's fine. I have a favorite walk and I like some of the people in my neighborhood. Mom says we will go back there and stay again for a long time. She said she's sick of the cold, damp winters in New England. Right now we are here for the summer and I was happy to see that everything is still where I left it... my toys and bones and especially the bed!

home again

Everyone was on this trip and it was kind of cool, but I get nervous when anything is different so I guess I didn't enjy it as much as Trinka did. I had an okay time, and some of it was pretty neat. I did like the new smells and I liked visiting some of the humans I have met before and this one neat old lady who always gives me bacon and good scratches was nice. I stepped on a few sharp things called sand burrs but my mom got them out of my feet real quick. The sand felt nice though and the warm air was really sweet-smelling. The humans were slower-moving and I like that. Everyone seemed more relaxed there. I am real happy to be home again. I love my home and my beds and I was very very excited when we arrived last night. I ran around the house and wagged my tail until my mom asked if it was going to fall off. She tells me she wishes she would see me wag my tail more often. Guess I can try to work on that.

fall time

When we were away this summer on the boat I didn't feel so good, and Mom gave me something called Bonine, except it wasn't a bone at all. But my tummy felt a lot better! I have been feeling much more relaxed this summer and have been getting to run on the beach a lot. I have discovered that it doesn't hurt to get my toes wet and it's actually kinda fun to splash around and get Trink wet! It's that time of year again when there's a lot of chipmunks and I am really on the hunt to catch one of those guys! They like to hide in the leaves and when I'm on my walk I sneak up on them...

More cheese

Mom has been giving me more pieces of cheese! YUM! I feel so good now, too! I haven't been chasing flies that Trinka says aren't there! I don't feel so afraid anymore! I sleep better... and food tastes better!! That must be some powerful cheese! ((Phineas is now taking phenobarbital along with his soloxine, in hopes that some of his behavior issues are due to underlying mild seisures. So far it seems to be helping))

white stuff again

it's been a very warm winter and then all of a sudden, we woke up this morning to piles and piles of the white stuff! We took a very long walk this morning and now I am taking a big nap in front of the fire :0) Gotta store up my energy for the next outing!

january

Boy o boy... I'm a year older and I might say I'm a year better!! I think I'm quite the hot stuff now that I have all my muscles and fine fur shining. Mom says I am a very big Shiba and I think she must be so proud!! Last year was not a good year for chipmunks, so I am hoping that this year will be a good one! We did get something very yummy though, for Christmas, some tenderlion and ribs and boy was that really really good. It was so good that I got in trouble for trying to steal the whole roast off the counter.... geez, I AM a dog y'know!!

here comes Santa!

Oh Boy!! There've been lots of crinkling bags full of interesting smells coming home... I just KNOW there's something in there for ME! Mom keeps shoo-ing me away and hiding the bags in the closet. I have been complaining, but she says No.... darn. I can't wait that long!! I might starve or die or something... C'mon Santa! Hurry up!!

october news

well it's autumn or fall or whatever humans like to call it. I think it's the best time of the year. Still haven't caught any chipmunks, but have seen a few lately... maybe i will still get my chance! Mom has been busy in the house and outside, she says she is making it look festive, whatever that means. All I know is that those round orange things and the crinkly long things called corn are off-limits. They look like fun play-toys though... We have been taking some nice long walks and everything smells good! Trick or treat--- hope i get lots of treats!!!

sailing summer

Have been on the boat a lot this summer. I rembered everything from last year and Mom was impressed at how well I did. It is a bit confusing when you don't know where to step because the ground is moving, so I just take naps in the cockpit well and wait until I smell land. Mom and Dad are really happy that I have such a good nose, they say it is very helpful in the fog! It is nice to feel useful!! :-)
