Arrival Story:
July 10, 2004: We saw a dog we were interested in adopting on the Arizona Humane Society web site and went to see him. We spent a lot of time with him, and decided we might want to adopt him. Just to be sure, we took Petunia, a beautiful Staffordshire terrier out, and she was a great hound, but we decided on dog #1. While taking Petunia back, K saw this other dog (Baskin) that she instantly bonded with. Having already "chosen" a hound, I agreed to take this new fella out more or less as a courtesy - who knew the last time he'd been taken out? When we got to the play area, we instantly bonded. He was incredibly charismatic and energetic! We knew he would be a handful but this fella picked us. His name was "Diego". According to his kennel card he was given up because his former owners "did not have time for him. Since he was getting a fresh start, we thought he should get a new name. It took a day or two to decide on Baskin....We'd gone through name after name after name. After one particularly extended session of him licking my shins, arms, neck, face, and forearms, I said something like "dude, I'm not an ice cream cone!" And thus, he got the name Baskin.

Bio:
Basking is awesome, very smart, loves other dogs, energetic, sociable, and loves being around kids. He runs to the door when the doorbell rings eager to meet someone new.

Got me a sister

So...after almost 10 months of just me, Pop, and Momma, I got a sister on May 21! Her name used to be "Sushi", but she was given up twice earlier. Feh. If people didn't appreciate her warm heart and tremendous intelligence, their loss is their loss and our gain.

We like to play tug of war, wrestling, and naptime. I'm really good at naptime and Bella is picking it up. Slowly!

To quote my boy Ice Cube, "today was a good day". I snuck into the bed rrrrealy early last night, way before The Two usually let me in. Then, the girl took me out early in the AM, while the guy slept in.

Then it kinda sucked for awhile. I was alone, between Time When Sun Is Rising until Sun Hides Behind Hill. Yawn. I kept myself busy by digging holes and biting holes in the carpet.

But then, The Two came home at the same time and we went to the park! We ran on the ditchbank, then to the grass, the guy and I watched kids play lacrosse. Then we went to the dog area. This big dumb jerk named "Madness" was being a jerk to me. I was all scared and fur raised and whatnot.

Then we left and I had dinner. Later, the guy took me on a brief hop around the way, all while the girl read a book. I totally know the path. Tomorrow, The Two were saying the guy is going to take me on what they call the "short loop" at least. We'll see.
