Arrival Story: Fred had been seen roaming the Highway about a quarter of a mile from my home for a couple weeks. He was eating road kill to live. Tried to catch him a couple of times before I finally talked him into not running. One thing in my favor that day was a bone chilling north wind. He was slowly freezing to death. If I hadn't caught him that day he would have froze to death that night. The temperature dropped in the 20"s that night. We got him home and it was noon it took till 8 pm that night for him to stop shivering. The poor thing was skin and bones. He still has some weight to gain. I took him to the vet and she said he was about 4 years old. Other than being malnourished he was in pretty good shape. He has settled in and is now a big part of our family. We still have a lot to learn about each other but I wouldn't trade him for anything.

December the first will be the anniversary of my first year at my forever home. Mom has also made it my birthday. She doesn't really know how old I am she is just guessing and I can't tell her. But I don't care I have a nice warm home and lots of playmates and my Grandma.
Mom and my human brother rescued me off a state highway. Other people had been seeing me for 2 or 3 weeks and couldn't catch me. But On 12-1- 2008 mom and hubrother were coming home from town and he spotted me.It was really cold that day. It was close to freezing and a strong north wind. I was scared and cold. They brought me home and my new grandma sat and held me wrapped in a blanket. I shivered from noon till about 9 that night. They think I might have froze to death that night if they hadn't seen me and caught me.
They had a lot of trouble getting me to eat and mom had to take me to the vet about every 14 days for about 3 months. I would throw up and cough. The vet said I was eat up with worms. I had ear mites. I hated having pills poked down me and that stuff put in my ears.
I am healthy now and happy. I spend most of my day protecting my grandma from the other dogs.I help wake her every morning and put her to bed every night. I sleep with my mom. My grandma gives me the crust off her sandwich at noon and every night after her dinner she makes sure I get a bite or two of what she has left. Hubrother says I am spoiled rotten. My grand ma says I deserve to be. I am the baby. She says that because I am the smallest of 8 not the youngest.
I am a very lucky boy to have let them catch me and bring me here. I love my forever home and family.
