Everyone, yeah, yeah, I like everyone...I'm a happy boy!! Oh yeah, I love my brother Alfredo and I love and miss my sister Violet Rose
"What's a pet peeve? "
the "bad" pillow, any and all stuffed animals Mommy buys for me at garage sales...
I absolutely love all raw or cooked vegetables, fresh fruit, tossed salads
just being happy, Driving down the road with my head out the sunroof with my doggles(doggy goggles) on!!
Owen came from an abusive household where the husband was abusing his wife...where there is spousal abuse there is usually animal abuse. I know that Owen was beaten with a shovel as I witnessed it myself after the dog did something destructive in the back yard. The dog was six months old at the time and never had a toy to play with. In the house he was a perfect dog, but once in the yard (his domain) whatever he found he played with.
These people were neighbors and I suspected problems. In speaking with the wife she told me of her husband's outbursts. I had offered her my house to her of refuge if needed as my doors were never locked. One evening she came flying into my house bleeding and with a red and swollen face. I told her that if she needed to leave her environment that not to let Owen be an anchor that we would take the dog...(some people will use any excuse not to leave an abusive partner). That was on a Tuesday and by Friday we had Owen. She left her husband and moved out of state. The timing couldn't have been better for all concerned...as we had lost our beloved Golden Retriever , Nunzio two weeks prior . That was in 1999 and I have no regrets as Owen is probably the best behaved , most devoted and obedient dog I have been proud to own. Owen does have scars on both of his ears from the abuse he sustained. I did give him his very first toy when he was living with his orginal owners... it was the most heart rendering moment. He took the toy and kept tossing it in the air and jumping with joy. So every opportunity I have to buy him stuffed animals from yard sales I spoil him. I name everyone of his toys and if I ask him to get it for me by name he does. He is an incredible companion and I am so lucky we found one another.

Mom took me to the Vet man for my annual physical and we could not believe what the scale said. 8 months ago I had a mast cell tumor removed (it was good news ) and at the same time my Mom had a brain storm and thought I should be neutered at the same time (Way to go MOM). Anyway it seems I gained 21 pounds in 8 months!!!!! I was a svelt 80 pounds now I weigh 101...but Mom says I am still very very handsome and look great. The Vet man also said I look wonderful but to try to maintain this weight. So now Mom has eliminated those delicious cookies she gives me everytime I go out and do my business and she gives me baby carrots. I LUV BABY CARROTS!!!!
So keep your paws crossed that I don't gain anymore weight......

Daddy was working at the baseball game cause he wears a uniform and he carries a gun and he directs the traffic and kinda watches for any trouble. When got to the game he called my mommy and told her it was "bring your dog to the baseball game" day . So being that my Mommy loves me and tries to take me whenever she can , we went to the game. Boy, did I have fun and was I the hit of all the dogs!!! I wore my "Doggles" and everyone thought I was the coolest kid there. We saw all kinds of other kids there too. We saw and English Mastiff who was the biggest Mastiff my Mom has ever seen. Now mind you, I have a brother who is a Mastiff so my Mom knows her stuff. He was soooooooooooooo tall, wow was he big. My brother couldn't go cause Fredo doesn't really like other "kids" unlike me cause I like everybody but that's cause I'm a Lab and I'm a "HAPPY DOG". When I got home I was so tired so up on the bed I went and rested. They are going to have it again in June and I can't wait to go. Mom said we would go again only if it is not too hot!!! I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

Boy oh Boy, I'm a happy happy boy!!! I went to Oshun City, NJ to pawticipate in the Basset Hound Waddle...I know I'm not a Basset Hound but my sister was but she's at the Rainbow Bridge so I waddled in her memory. Not only was I in the pawrade but my crazy mom dressed me up as a Basset Hound as you can see in my latest photographs. Well I was a hit!!! Everyone laughed and some people even applauded as I walked by in the sea of bassets. I did hear some funny comments from the 2 leggers, like "He's a fake", "He's a wannabe ", "He's a phony", but the best one was " He's a knock off from Canal Street". My mom told everyone that I was a "Am-Bassador". My mom also told me that she was so proud of me cause I was soooooooooooo good and got along with every "kid" that smelled my butt!!! I had a blast and want to do it again next year. This is something my sister Violet used to do to raise money for all the poor bassets that don't have forever homes and to help support those in foster care or that are being boarded privately till they go to a loving family. I know it's a wonderful thing cause my Mom rescued me so I can feel for all those homeless pups out there!! If anyone wants to learn more about this wonderful cause here is the website!!!
