Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: August 9th 2004
Likes: tearing the fuzz off tennis balls, dragging my blanket around the house and chewing on it, beating up my teddy bear... i'm tough! and picking up little toys that belong to my human brothers and running from Mommy when she tries to get them back

Pet-Peeves: wearing a collar, when Mom makes me put on the coat, pottying in the rain

Favorite Toy: any ball, small stuffed animals and pretty much anything that DOESN'T belong to me

Favorite Food: yogurt, treats, cookies and greenies

Favorite Walk: anywhere Mom will take me, especially if there are good smells to sniff along the way and gross things on the ground I can try to eat

Best Tricks: slipping out of a perfectly good collar, licking your face/ears/fingers/toes/and everything in between till you drip with puppy slobber, annoying my kitty brother and the best trick of all... wiggling my way into the heart of EVERYONE I meet!

Arrival Story: Before Elmer was even concieved I had begun to look for a new puppy. I was devestated at the loss of my long time fur-baby, Goofy, and finally came to realize I needed a new four legged friend in my life. I discovered a website called Ratbone Rescues where they saved as many sweet little rat terrier lives as they possibly could. I knew right from the start I would adopt a pup from this rescue when the time came. In August of 2004 Elmer began life as a sweet little puppy born into a foster home for this rescue. He was blessed with a pair of wonderful human foster parents who took care of Elmer's doggy Mommy, Belle, and all of Elmer's doggy brothers and sisters. Ken and Darla helped raise the puppies until they were old enough to move on to their forever homes. Mary Y. sponsored Elmer and gave him his original (now middle) name, Throwen, when he was born. She continues to be involved in his life, long distance, and loves him every bit as if he were her own.
Once Elmer was big enough to leave his foster parents home he made the trip to Barbie's house. As another volunteer for Ratbone Rescues Barbie has many foster dogs make a quick stop with her on the way to their forever homes. Elmer stayed for only 3 short days before getting on a plane and flying all the way from Texas to North Carolina where his new family waited. When he first arrived it was love at first site. He was so tiny and scared and an absolute angel! I picked him up at the airport and he road all the way home on my lap wrapped up in a new soft blanket. It took five days for him to get his new name. I finally settled on Elmer because he sticks to me like GLUE! Following me EVERYWHERE directly underfoot and snuggling in my lap whenever I sit down. It fts him perfectly! I don't know how we ever got along without Elmer. He makes us laugh every day and everyone he meets falls completely in love with him! THANK YOU everyone at RBR who had a hand in helping to send my baby home. We love him and will be forever grateful for the gift that he is!
