Arrival Story:
Mom was at the Vet's with her Lab & asked if they knew of anyone that had to get rid of a female dog. The Vet's said they might just have the dog for her . They brought me out from out back for us to meet and Mom fell in love with me on the spot. I was can of dirty and have a infection on my tummy but that didn't matter . Mom saw the real ME. They had been fostering me in the back kennels for 9 loooo ng mths. Hoping to find a forever home for me. Mom took me home and I settled right in. I like the cat and everything but she found out that I was not house broken. She had to hire a senior to come in during the day and let me out to go potty for over a year until I was house broken. I am very much a Mommy girl who doesn't stray to far from her unlike my coonhound sisters. I am getting up there is years 14 1/2 yrs & I am on med's for my arthritis. I am very alert just slow in moving . I am loving the snow in my back yard . My portrait is on the wall at Camp Bow Wow Kentwood with my Sisser Gretchen so I will live on for all to see. Mom put a picture portrait on the site. It should be the last one.

No electric morning

Mom over slept cause the electric went out at 3:45 this morning. That was just after the two of us had gotten up to go potty. I can not hold it thru the night like I use to. The warm wind was howling and taking the snow away, Very balmy outside. She was surprise that all three of us were in the bed when she woke up. It was a 3 dog night.

Boy, did the weather change by the time we went out at 9:30 this A.M. it was a cold, cold wind. We are all snuggled inside even tho the heat went back on at noon. We had a special treat scramble eggs and cheese and bits of hot dogs for our first meal of the day. That was of course after we ate our kibble and chicken broth. Mom now will finish the baking we started from yesterday.

I am feeling better because yesterday I went to the vet and got my Adequan shot for my arthritis. I am still taking two Zinc capsules a day for a zinc deficiency which runs in older Nordic dogs. The vet changed my eye ointment to one with a stronger med. It has a long name Erythromycin Ophthalmic . I am keeping my paws crossed that it works better.
Need to go now, cookies need taste testing

Rainy day / Baking day

It has been raining (cat & dogs)since yesterday. The only good thing is some of the ice has gone away from the deck and driveway. It gets us all wet and Sheena takes a loooong time to dry. Mom lets us have a smoked bone while she watch us enjoy it. I wasn't quite finished with it but she took it away anyway. Said it was too small to have anymore. Bummer!!! Mom said to get ready to make some dog friendly cookies from the Camp Bow Wow newsletter. Yummo. We are her official taste testers. We take that job very seriously.

We need to send some to our four legged cousins in Ohio in their pkg. We have included the recipe here in case you want your moms or dads to make them for you.

Recipe of the Month - Snickerpoodles

½ cup vegetable oil

½ cup shortening

1 cup honey

2 eggs

3 ¾ cups white flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ cup cornmeal

2 teaspoons cinnamon

Mix up the oil, shortening, honey and eggs. Beat well. Add flour, soda and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Mix the cornmeal and cinnamon together in a bowl and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Press the balls down with a fork. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 400F. Cool on a rack. Feed to the dogs. Store in airtight container. Feed some more.
