Arrival Story: Sheba is a Wirehaired Dachshund who was rescued Easter Sunday in 1996. She was approximately six weeks old when she came to live with us. We estimated Sheba's barkday to be 2/28/96. Sheba crossed Rainbow Bridge on March 11, 2009. She had liver cancer. Spike is a Miniature Schnauzer who was a 1999 Christmas present. He came from Texas. Spike's barkday is 10/10/1999. Spike was diagnosed with sarcoma on 8/14/2009 and is currently on supplements and meds. It's in his chest and surgery was not recommended; too close to the heart & lungs. Spike lost his courageous battle to cancer on 10/12/2009; two days after his 10th barkday. Miracle is a Miniature Schnauzer we rescued February 27, 2008. She crossed Rainbow Bridge on August 19, 2008. She had AIHA. Bella & Scooter are Miniature Schnauzers we rescued October 14, 2008. Bella's barkday is 1/20/2007 and Scooter's barkday is 2/22/2007. Peppy and Cricket are Chihuahuas; Cricket crossed Rainbow Bridge on 9/20/1997 and Peppy crossed on 2/19/2001. Jiffy is a Schnauzer mix I adopted from HUA (Nebraska) on Dec. 18, 2010 and Rosie is a Schnauzer mix who someone dumped in the country, but she came to live with us on October 15, 2011. I believe both Jiffy & Rosie were sent by Sheba, Spike and Miracle.
Bio: Miracle was diagnosed with AIHA on August 13, 2008 and it quickly took her away from us. It stands for Auto Immune Hemolytic Anemia. It is a serious and often fatal blood disease in which the body attacks its own red blood cells. Pawlease consider donating just a dollar to help find a cure for this horrific disease. To do so just visit another fur who lost her life to AIHA long before we knew what it was. Her name is Mica and she is helping find a cure: mica-the wonderpup. Do it for Miracle if you can! We love her and miss her so much.
I am so SAD to report Sheba crossed Rainbow Bridge on March 11, 2009 after fighting a very bad infection. We're not sure if it's from the toy she ingested on March 3rd or something else, but the hurt is very deep. She was our baby girl for thirteen years. She slept right next to me on the bed every night. I love her and miss her so much. I lost my little buddy Spike two days after his 10th barkday in 2009. I've never felt such emptiness in the house since both he & Sheba are gone. It's changed my life forever. Here it is Feb 22, 2012; almost three years without Sheba, but it seems like only yesterday they were both right here by my side. I LOVE & miss my babies.
That's what Spike always woofed about while on the Earth and now he keeps sending that message down from above. It appears us doggies are too much fur mom to allow us a little Dogster time every now and then. Guess there are too many of us who would take up her personal puter time!! GRRRR!! Of course she's not on as much due to life's circumstances. Anyfur, we're just barking real quick today.
Bella & Rosie are still at odds with each other. Jiffy barks like crazy at them to stop when they even look like they want to attack each other. They were doing good until mom had to go run errands the other day. When she came back it wasn't even five minutes they started to light into each other. It could be because dad is sick in bed and they're not getting any attention from him except his hollering to get off the bed and leave him alone. Life's little ups and downs as mom says so she tries to keep us out of the room as much as possible. We sleeps with her on the pull out sofa bed at night now leaving dad all alone in the big bed.
Jiffy and Rosie are going to the vet tomorrow fur their annual check ups. That's a whole month over due, but again it's cuz of the unforeseen things going on in our lives. Then next week Bella, Scooter, Jiffy and Rosie get their hairs cut before the Christmasy holidays. They're looking quite shaggy right now. Because of the fighting issues with Bella and Rosie there won't be a group photo fur Christmas this year. Mom's trying to create us a nice card to get in the mail before this week's over. She started putting up our cards the other day when hooman brofur came to visit. Somefur grabbed the little box of Christmasy clothespins and took it in the yard. Thankfully Miss Rosie didn't get the box completely open and all the little pins is safe from her reach again. Of course, she got called "bad dog" a few times. BOL!!!
We gotta go...must help mom with some decorating. We're gonna have a Christmas tree this year! Whoo-hoo...first time in a LONG time!! Mom says the little sparkly lights are calming to sit in the darks and watch fur awhile.
We'll try to sneak back on before the holiday so we can send some pressies to our furiends.
OMD!! We want to bark up a storm about the furtastic time we had from last Thursday afternoon up until Monday morning with our furiend's mom. But we can't get no computer time in between mom's photo uploading, her answering FB messages, e-mails and working outside trying to get that flower bed fixed up so it's purty. We promised not to trample over the stuff she plants, but sometimes Rosie furgets. BOL!!!
When Bacon, Beanie and Izzy's mom came to our house on Thursday evenings we lit into her like a long lost relative. Rosie hit her like a "tank" and knocked her over backwards. It was fun times fur sure cuz not many visitors let us jumps all over them and give kissies. Scooter gave tons of kisses to Auntie Mel, Rosie wanted all the attention, Jiffy wuffed her but stayed his distance while Bella barked to get everyfur in line. All them angel furs was grinning from ears to ears at the grand meeting of our Dogster pawrents. We know Ernie George and Spike kept the ugly weathers away while them mamas went on adventures to New Orleans, Lake Martin, Avery Island, Laura's plantation home, the welcome center and the gator farm. OMD!! The weathers was pawfect despite what the weatherman said about the rains. Good times were had by all!
We gotta run now, but will try to come back and write more and post some picfurs cuz we had the bestest of times. We wuffs Auntie Mel!!
and we're not ready. We don't even have our cards to put in the mail fur our furiends. Every day we bark at the mail truck in joy hoping to see that box of cards; will they arrive today? The only good thing we knowed about is our pawresent cuz we seen the big boxes of Greenies yesterday. And, we finally got some odor free bully sticks cuz the pawrents don't like the smells of them others...they all good to us!
Yesterday Bella, Scooter, Jiffy and Rosie got groomed. At least they look spiffy fur Christmas, but they Christmas card shows 'em in they true what dad calls "scruffy" look. BOL!!
All the angel furs are pawtying up there with Cookie and the gang who speaks of the wonderful adventures through regular diary entries.
Many times mom thought about changing our fambly name here on Dogster, but we are keeping our name cuz it all started with Spike, Sheba and the gang in Lafayette. Mom thought of changing it after we moved, but can't cuz we is famous in Geoffrey Bain's "Just One More Day" book. We sent POP to his beloved Abby before she went to the bridge and there's almost two pages about Spike in the book. Abby went to the bridge approx. a month & a half after Spike. Our name remains cuz it includes all us furs here on the Earth and in the Heavens above.
