Arrival Story:
Rusty was adopted from a local shelter. He had been taken as a stray - and they had to use the catchpole to bring him in. He fought against it so hard that he actually burst blood vessels in the back of both eyes. A friend of mine volunteers her time to give reiki to the animals at the shelter. On this particular day, she had another animal who needed her services so she asked if I would go and give reiki to this dog they had recently brought in. I agreed. As soon as I laid my hands on him there was an obvious energetic connection. When we were done, the shelter workers were asking me what I had done to the dog as he had calmed down significantly. I said that if he was still there when I was ready to have a dog in my life (I was in the process of moving at the time) that I would take him. Six weeks later he became mine.

Bio:
The shelter folks had named him Noah, but I didn't think it was a good idea to have a dog whose name started with NO.

Pawrents are so silly!

Momma brought me to a sniffy place again yesterday. She says it was the same one, but I don't believe her. They were all new sniffs! I couldn't sniff that I had ever been there before, so how could it be the same place? Momma says its just cause we used a different entrance, and explored a different part of the area, but doesn't that make it a different place?

The first silly thing that momma did was get all gushy over me after some people went by on machines - ATVs is what momma called them. When we heard them coming, we moved to the side of the trail, and she had me sit. As they went past, I didn't bark or lunge or even move at all. Momma thought that was extra special.

Then, further on in the woods, there was a shiny thing blowing around in the brush. Momma says it was a mylar balloon that was tangled in the brush. At first, I didn't want to walk past it, but I quickly got brave enough to go past because I wanted to keep exploring. But then, when I wanted to go home, momma made me go past it again. I really wanted to run in the other direction, but she said no, and kept walking. Eventually, I had no choice so I ran past it real fast. And momma kept calling me a silly beastie, but hey, it looked like it was from outer space!

Finally, I was pooped and ready to go home. So I led momma back to the car. She opened the door and said, "Hup," and I jumped right in. That must have been a REALLY good thing to do, because the treats and pats and scritches and praises started raining down from heaven. Momma better not think that I'm going to be like that all the time - I don't like the car, and that's that! But I do understand that sometimes - like when I'm ready to go home from the sniffy place - I have to ride in the car to get there.

Yup, pawrents are super silly!

I understand now

Yup. It all makes sense. My momma was abducted by aliens - that's why she is being so nice to me. (Not that the old one wasn't nice, she just didn't take me on such great walks or feed me such yummy food...)

Does anyone know how to get in touch with the aliens and let them know that I am very happy with this new momma so they needn't return the old one???? ;-)

What's gotten into momma?

I don't know what's gotten into momma lately. But I sure am loving it! In the past week, we've been to the sniffy place (she calls it a "Wildlife Management Area) 5 times. At least, I think it's five times. Once for every toe on my left front paw - including the little one way up high. I'm pretty sure momma said that was 5.

And when we go there, we walk around for a LLLLOOOOONNNNGGGG time! Momma pretty much lets me decide where to go - although she generally insists that we stay on a path :-(

Today, she even let me off my leash for a little bit. She was disappointed that I didn't go running into the field. (I don't know why - she wants me to stay on the path other times.) Instead, I stayed on the path in front of her - I just walked faster than she does.

Yup, something's gotten into momma alright. Hope it lasts!
