Memorial Day Weekend

Hello. I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! Mine went well, except mommy forgot to put me in my patriotic dress that she has been waiting for me to wear ever so patiently! I guess I will have to wait until the 4th of July now! Well, Mark, Joanne and Maya (a Golden Retriever) came down to spend Friday-Monday with us. It was… a unique experience to say the least! I was a bit intimidated at first, but I eventually worked up the nerve to at least try to be friends with her. It seems like she wasn’t too fond of me, though she was quite civil with me. I would try to sniff her butt or smell her nose, but she would always turn her head or move all together! Talk about frustrating! I kept trying, though I didn’t have too much success.

I tried chasing Maya’s tail once, but mommy and daddy scolded me and told me that it wasn’t kind to bite another dog’s tail…. :O( I took it in stride though and tried to be a good doggie. I discovered that Maya’s bed is way more comfortable then mine and a lot bigger. It was like moving from a twin bed to a king size bed! I just kept rolling around in it and snuggling! Maya didn’t seem to mind a bit, so I just kept nesting. I also tried to play with a couple of her toys, but they were just too heavy for me. I guess I need to start working out or something! Maybe when I see her next time, I will be better prepared!

Whenever mommy and daddy left me, they put me in their bathroom and closed the bedroom door. I wasn’t too happy about it, but they said that I would be better protected that way. I was a bit jealous that Maya got free reign of the apartment! Meanwhile, I was stuck in a bathroom! Hmph! I am the head dog of this house… I should have roaming rights instead of her! Mommy and daddy even left me alone for about 6 hours! I was bursting by the time they got home, but I didn’t make a single accident while they were gone! It was a good thing, because I got lots of praise, snuggles, smoochies and of course goodies! It was all worth it in the end. :O)

I found out that Maya does like to pay on occasion. She can be a bit rough when she plays. She likes to raise up on her hind legs and drop down while chasing. Mommy and daddy kept a watchful eye on the both of us the entire time. Luckily for me, I am a quick little doggie! By the time Maya had raised into the air, I had already skedaddled and was too far away from her. I also used the strategic “staying on the opposite side of the coffee table” technique. Hehe.

One day they took us for a walk to the park. What fun! The walk there was a bit long, but I did fairly well on the leash. Mommy even took me off the leash to see what I would do (no other dogs besides Maya was there). I did very well. I stuck by mommy for the most part, but I did run over to daddy as well. I had to check on is well-being! At one point, mommy took off! She was running away from me! I had no choice but to try to catch her! She kept on weaving back and forth. No matter what she did though, I kept gaining on her! In the words of “Finding Nemo”, “You can fight evolution. I was built for speed!” Anyway, mommy tried to take a turn so sharp that her foot slipped out and she dropped to the ground. That was when I pounced…. and licked her to death!

After our visitors left, mommy took me to her work to visit Missy. She is one of my favorite people! I just kept jumping on her and giving her kissies. Mommy said I wasn’t using very good manners, but Missy said it was okay…. so I just kept on doing it! All in all, I had a great extended weekend with mommy. She forgot to take me to the vet to get my stitches out, so I am going sometime today. I sure am hoping that it doesn’t hurt too bad! Mommy says I should be fine and I want to trust her, but you just never know with these vet people! Take care everyfur!

Oh what a day!

Well mommy has been saying I am lacking socialization and has been trying to figure out what stores are doggy friendly. Well, mommy had to take off from work early today because she had a doctor appointment. Well after she got home, she brushed me, fixed miy top knot and put me in my cute pink/green/white summer dress. She then got out my seatbelt harness. She told me that I was going to meet people at her work. Well, she loaded me up in the car and we went on a very short drive.

Upon arrival, she took me out and walked me towards this building. I was a little scared going through these doors that you had to be let in through by button or keycard. Well, we get into her work and she takes me off the leash. I am surrounded by all these people and I didn't know what to do, so I hid behind mommy. Mommy gave them something, which I soon found out were treats! Every time I went up to them, I got petted, loved on and yummy treats! Pretty soon, I was runing around the place like I had been there all my life. I kept running back and forth from person to person. I always ran back and checked on mommy. I didn't want her to think I forgot about her!

Well, after playing for about a half hour mommy said we had one more person to go see. She took me upfront to see another person, who also loved on me and gave me treats! Well, I started to get a little sleepy from my running around and mommy said it was time to go. On our way out, I made sure to walk all nice next to mommy and I didn't pull on the leash at all! I was doing SO good... then all the sudden.... BAM! I hit something hard! I have no idea what it was because I didn't see anything! Mommy started to giggle as she saw that I was alright. I was looking up at her all confused. She then told me "That is glass silly! You can't walk through that." Then she opened up a door and led me outside. She told me to go potty on this HUGE area of grass. I wish we had that much grass at the apartment we live at. Well, after I did my business she loaded me back up into the car and we came home. We have just been relaxing for the rest of the day. The only thing I am looking forward to are dinner (which should be any minute now) and my playtime with mommy on the floor. WHOOHO!! I love it when mommy comes home early! I sure hope mommy takes me back there again sometime!

What glorious weather!

The past few days here in Oregon have been absolutely GORGIOUS! Mommy took me for a walk on Friday and Saturday! Daddy even went with us on Saturday. It was the longest walk I have ever been on. It was about 2 miles long. I was tuckered out by the time I got back home. While we were on a walk some strange guy wanted to pet me. I kept trying to run and hide, but mommy wouldn't let me. She picked me up and let the man pet me. I didn't really like it at first, but I got the idea that he couldn't have been too bad since mommy and daddy were talking to him. After my nap, mommy brushed me and fussed over knots I had acquired from our walk. She said I was absolutely filthy. Next thing I know, she is taking me to the dreaded tub for a bath! YIKES!

I didn't appreciate that at all. I tried to be good, but I did jum out of the bathtub once, getting water everywhere. Mommy wasn't too happy about that one. After that, mommy blowdried me. I am getting better with the blowdryer. I ran around the bathroom wagging my tail and would run by the warm air or even bark and bite at it! I had a blast. So much so that I had an accident...... I poopied..... Mommy scolded me, but wasn't too harsh. She knew I had to go, but I was being stuborn, so I didn't go before the bath. Then the excitement brought it out of me I guess. At least I am all soft, fluffy and smelling good again!
