Badges: Quick Bio:
Likes: I love cuddling on the couch or in bed with my parents, pushing Mommy and Daddy out of bed

Pet-Peeves: The vacuum cleaner, when other dogs at the dog park won't play with me, patio furniture (Mommy doesn't know why...but I growl and my hair stands up whenever I see it!), walking in the rain or in wet grass...and strangers telling me I look like a hyena!

Favorite Toy: Stuffed animals...I chew them until the stuffing comes out. Then Mommy buys me a new one!

Favorite Food: Peanut butter, ice cubes, and table scraps Mommy gives me when Daddy isn't looking!

Favorite Walk: Anywhere! I love walks! I love going to Dog Wood too, I just wish we could go every weekend!

Best Tricks: Sit, down, catch, stand (standing up on my hind legs)...we are still working on Stay, Gimme Paw, and Watch Me.

Arrival Story: Animal control picked me up as a stray in June 2008. I was at the pound for 3 months and didn't get adopted. The local humane society picked me up and took me to their shelter. My mommy and daddy moved into a condo and had been thinking about getting a dog for some time. About a week after I got to the humane society shelter, they showed up and looked around. They didn't see any dogs they liked, but they stopped by my cage on the way out. I jumped up against the door and started licking them. My mommy smiled and looked up at Daddy...I knew I had found my forever home!

Bio: I am what Mommy and Daddy call a Heinz 57 dog. The shelter told them I was a Lab mixed with Corgi, but the vet told them I was German Shepherd and Chihuahua! They did something called a DNA test in April 2009, and it came back with slight traces of Dalmatian, Chow Chow, and Shar-Pei---but no dominant breeds. So I'm a mix of a mix of a mix. Recently, someone mentioned I looked like an Australian Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix. Mom did some research, and even found a picture of a dog that could be my twin! I have traits (physical and behavioral) of both of these dogs, so Mom decided that would be my "official" label. I don't mind being called a mutt though...it makes me special!

When I woke up this morning, Mommy was very excited and kept telling me "Happy Birthday!". Today is my birthday (or what the shelter estimated it as). I am 2 years old today! Mom and Dad spoiled me with some special treats. They also bought me a Kong football and a Kong stuffed tiger that is stretchy. I already ripped the head off the tiger BOL. Mom said we are having a party tomorrow with some more family and I will get Frosty Paws and more toys/treats! Birthdays are awesome!

I graduated from Beginner Obedience class today! Mom was so nervous that I would mess up during the test. I had to do a Sit-Stay and a Down-Stay for 30 seconds each. I had been having trouble with Down-Stay, so Mom was so excited when I did it! I also did loose-leash walking and Leave It for the distractions they put out. I have improved so much the past 8 weeks. I don't jump on people as much when they come up to talk to Mom and Dad. Thanks to the head collar, I don't pull on the leash anymore. I'm even learning to Shake! Mom said I still need a little work on my Stays (sometimes I get distracted and walk away). I got so many treats and belly rubs from Mom today...she was very happy! I didn't really like wearing the graduation cap, but I did it for Mom so she could get a picture.
Maybe I'll tackle Intermediate Obedience next!

Mom and Dad left this morning. They came home to find I had eaten another hole in the wall. This one is really BIG. They are mad. They won't look at me or play with me. Mom is insisting they HAVE to buy a crate this weekend and start training me to go in it. Mom said she's gonna talk to the trainer at my next class tomorrow...until then, she is really upset.
