Gingival Hyperplasia and me......

Hi all, Im just updating everyfur on how I am doing since my last diagnosis. Im doing good and hanging in there, Im a trooper and mommie and daddie are doing everything they can to keep me happy and healthy. I was diagnosed with bilateral renal dysplasia a couple weeks ago:( There is no medicine or surgery to help me and the only thing mom and dad can do is make sure I dont get any infections or bacteria in my system to make my kidneys work harder than they already are. I was also diagnosed with gingival hyperplasia which means my gums grow over my teeth. When that happens, it causes my gums to get red and bacteria and possible infections can start to grow in my mouth. So we had to have a dentistry and gum removal done on me Tuesday. The vet took extra special care of me and gave me iv fluids before my surgery and after my surgery to make sure and flush my kidneys out really good. I had stopped breathing while under anesthesia and the vet and vet techs had to breathe for me till the procedure was complete. I started to breathe on my own after and they kept me well supervised to make sure I was ok. I woke up good and I am feeling great now. Its so good to have my teeth all nice and white and to not have the gums growing over my teeth. This is all due to bad breeding and thank god my parents are on top of things and taking the best care of me, and thank god we have an amazing vet that is smart and so caring. So far all is good with me and I just wanted to keep all my friends updated and to thank you all so much for caring and praying for me. Thanks for sending me gifties and pawmails too! Kidney Displaysia:(

Well, more bad news for me:( I didnt have kidney stones as once thought, I have something worse. Kidney displaysia, there is no pill or surgery to cure me. The end result of this disease is death. Mom is doing everything she can for me to keep me as healthy as long as possible. We have a very good, very well experienced vet that is helping us but it still sucks. We probably wont be on here for awhile, mom needs to compose herself. Thank you for everyone out there that cares about me and we will be back on when mom is emotionally better. Love, Mable

Kidney stones

Help!!!! Ive had enough of all these medical problems that Ive been having lately. I need a break! So does moms wallet:( Ive had to have stomach surgery because I was naughty and ate my crate blankey, then I needed knee surgery (luxated patella), being spayed, but that was a good thing. Ive been dealing my whole life with skin problems so Im always at the vets for skin tests and different medicines to be put on. I get weekly allergy shots for my bad skin and mom has to bath me twice a week to help with my red, rashy skin. Im on tons of pills three times a day. I keep getting uti's, bacterial infections, yeast infections. Any kind of infection, I can get it! Well, last night mom got home from work and I was acting sad and painful. I was suppose to go to the vets today to have a dentistry done and to have some of my upper gum removed, the gums are growing over my teeth and needs to be surgically removed. So, mom brought me in and told the vet that I wasnt acting right and brought in a urine sample on me. The results showed that I had blood in my urine which Ive never had in all the millions of urine tests Ive been through. So the vet thinks I passed a kidney stone. The vet put me on a pain med and I have to get an ultrasound done to make sure I dont have anymore stones in me. Im only 3 yrs old and Ive been through so much. Mom has me snuggled up on the couch now with my head on the pillow and a warm blankey covering me. She is keeping me medicated so I can just rest and make it through till the ultrasound. Then once this clears up, then I can have my teeth and gums taken care of. If anybody else had kidney stones, please leave me some feedback as to what to excpect. We would appreciate it. I need another vacation!

Whew! We had a great time at the beach for 2 weeks, me and Bumble ran on the beach every morning, it was so much fun. We all had a great time but it went by way too quick. We just got home and Bumble got really sick cuz he ate a flannel comforter. But luckily he is better now and didnt need to have surgery to get it out. But then I got sick, mom thought I got into something even though she watches me like a hawk. But the xrays showed that I didnt eat anything bad this time:) The vet isnt sure what is making me sick and Ive been at the vets alot all last week. They did lots of bloodwork and other tests on me to figure out what is going on with me. Ive only thrown up once this weekend but I still have the runs so I will have to go back to the vets tommarrow to see what else can be done to help me. My sis Wilma isnt doing to good:( Mom thought she was starting with a uti so she went to the vets and they did bloodwork and took more urine on her and we will get the results tommarrow but the vet thinks Wilma is starting with renal failure. Keep her in your prayers, Im gonna go cuddle with my ol sis and try to make her feel better now. Love, Mable

Woohoo!

It was so beautiful out today that we were able to play in our pool all day long. Me, Bumble and my sis Wilma ran and frolicked all day. The pool was so nice and refreshing! I kept laying down in it and putting my head under water. Mom was getting nervous cuz I stayed under for long times but I knew my limits and would pop my head up when I had enough. Mom said I was silly and I think I heard her call me something else but I couldnt hear it:) We had so much fun running around and chasing the tennis ball and my old sis Wilma even was frolicking with us. She's 14 yrs old so I dont pick on her as much as I pick on my brother Bumble. Im getting better though, mom says Im not as naughty as I use to be:) I must be growing up. I had a nice bath after pool time, mom even brushed our teeth, shaved our whiskers and dremeled our nails. We had the full spa treatment so now Im so chillaxed and ready to take a nappy with my bro Bumble. Chat more later, Love, Mable

Whos Naughty Now?

I think Im an angel but I keep hearing this Naughty word...hmmm... The things I do I think are fun and kewl but mom thinks differently. I know Ive gone through alot of toys and mom gets mad if I wreck the toy in seconds after just buying it. She buys these toys that are suppose to be dog tuff and indestructible. I would like to see the dogs that test these toys to see if they truly are indestrucible or not. So far the only toy that has passed my test is the Kong Wubba. Maybe some company will hire me to be their toy tester:) I will show them how its done!! Well, off to chew something else but yet still remain an angel:) Love, Mable McNaughty

Tats and Polish

Ok, I was being a good girl and then mom started to get all creative on me and giving me pawprint tattoos all over me! She gave me a nice tubby and then dried me and did my nails then she kept going and started putting pawprints on me! I think if she had more time that I would have been totally covered in pawprints! My bro and sis think I look kewl and I do get alot more looks and comments now so maybe it is kinda kewl. Maybe she will put hearts all over me for Valentines Day! Sweet!!!

I miss the ocean!

We are back from vacation and we all had a super fun time. We ran and played on the beach and went for nice long walks. Mom brought our doggie beds and had them outside at the campground and I slept in mine sunning myself after my morning romp. One day I fell asleep in my bed and I had all 4 legs up reaching to the sky:) One of the fellow campers was walking by and looked at me and laughed and called me a goober! I guess I did look silly but I was so comfy:) Nothing like the warm sun beating down me after a nice frolick in the ocean:)

I Love Pool Time!

Hi all, I am feeling so much better from my knee surgery now. I was able to float in the pool and chillax which made me feel really good. A few weeks after my knee surgery, my pin migrated out of my knee so the vet had to remove it. He didnt think that I would need another surgery to put a screw back in so hopefully it will just keep healing and we will let the body do its work and heal correctly. Then I had a bacterial infection all along my mouth and in my ears so I had to be put on more pills and ear drops. Then a couple days after that my surgery leg was all bumpy so we went to the vet again and he said that I must be allergic to the sutures that are inside of me and I was put on another pill for that! Whew! Mom said I need to get a job, whatever that means:) ANywho, I think now I am on my way to a good recovery and Im just chillaxing with mom and trying to be a good girl and not mess my knee up.
