Arrival Story:
My daughter was 12, and she had wanted a puppy for a long, long time. Her brother had got Rex in the summer, and she desperately wanted a puppy of her own to love. In early December of '96, her brother and I went on a "puppy hunt", looking at all sorts of wonderful puppies. We found Jazzie at the newly-built and opened local humane society in the smallish eastern Oregon town where we lived. Jazz was the prettiest, fuzziest, most affectionate puppy we'd seen--a warm, fuzzy butterball of a pup! We adopted her then and there, and the shelter held her for us 'til Christmas Eve. A friend of mine then held her overnight, and brought the puppy to us on Christmas morning. When I came 'round the hallway with the puppy in my arms, telling my daughter to come see what Santa brought, she cried! This was HAPPY crying, mind you :-).
Bio:
Jazzie is a sweet and loving dog to her human family, but as a very dominant female, she despises the younger, more recently adopted females in her pack. Consequently, she has to be kept separated from them at all times, or she attacks with the intent to kill! Unfortunately for her, she always comes out on the bad end, having had sinus surgery to repair her poor nose more than once :-(. Despite her hatred for the ladies in the pack, she is fine with the males, and loves to go adventuring with them in the Jeep when she gets the chance. Since they were raised together, and are very close in age (3 months difference), her best friend is Rex. He loves her, and so do we.
