Leave a bone for Sir "Isaac" Humphrey Cavner

Isaac is main name, but he gets called Sir Isaac, Eyeliner Eyes, BoogieButt, Mama's Boy, Handsome Boy, Flirt

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:

When I drop food, and he truly LOVES other people and animals... so, so friendly.

Will not let me cut his nails to save his life, even gives the vet a hard time with it. Strong little guy for only 6 months...

Favorite Toy:
Old Blue and Mr. Teddy (as a pup) "Can" and Spongebob (age 3.5)

Favorite Food:
Apparently all of my black shoes! Just like my cocker when she was a baby??? I only give human food on Thanksgiving and Christmas and he loved his first taste of it last week.

Favorite Walk:
The Off-the-Leash Dog Park I recently discovered... Loves it, and he's pretty popular with the older dogs there who are curious about the new puppy.

Best Tricks:
Isaac's getting pretty good at staying and coming, otherwise he's a "tad" stubborn when it comes to tricks.

Arrival Story:
I lost my beloved MeLady, a cocker in the late spring, and was pretty devastated for several months. I didn't think I'd ever get another dog again, not wanting to ever experience that kind of pain again... Well, time passed, the house got too quiet, and soon I was healing and looking at dogs again. My student assistant apparently told her mom that I was beginning to think of basset hounds this time, because she called me and told me about a woman in a nearby town selling pups at a super cheap price. What a hard decision! Seven gorgeous, tiny little basset hound puppies come bounding out of their pen to you.... Isaac won me over! I love it when a dog really looks you in the eye, and Isaac stared constantly straight into my eyes... He seemed to know that! So sweet and I'm so happy with my decison!

I've never owned a male dog before, so THAT'S been interesting. I'm sure you all can deduce what I'm talking about. He's very funny and some time's likes to sass back with a brooding basset howl that just cracks me up. He loves children, is very affectionate, and is super popular with all the gals in the neighborhood. Best part: Neighbors upstairs were so taken with him, that they went and got one of his brothers, Xander, so now Isaac and Xander have "playdates" and love it!

Forums Motto:

Four and Still Goin' Strong

I turned the BIG "4" on June 1st. Mommy got me a gourmet bone—I wolfed it, yum! And she got me some toys—Mally the mallard is already missing one of her wings, HA!!! Try to fly away from me, will she—I don't think so!

Other than that life goes on as usual. I'm still in good health, still don't like my nails being cut (although I'm getting a little better, Mom says, when I'm at the vet getting that done). I'm glad summer is finally here! This winter was the world's longest, which is fine by me, but harder on the humans who don't like to stay out in it as long. So I'm glad I can run and smell the freshly cut grass and waller in it. Woo-hoo!

Me and Mom are closer than ever. She's my best friend and I'm hers. She gives me lots and lots of belly rubs, even back massages! Lots of kisses on the forehead and treats when I do tricks like "stay" and "come" and "lie down", and so on. I like to chase her around the house, too (just to see how slow she is, ha!!) I guess I'll keep her...

What Can I Say?

Mama says I'm growing up so fast! I'm pretty well-behaved... even impressed a fellow basset hound lover at the dog park the other day by obeying Mama and doing a trick for them, DESPITE the distraction of human beings and pack brothers all around... I'm pretty awesome that way, what can I say?

Mama says I weigh 49 pounds! Lean mean howling machine! (The ladies LOVE me!!)

Went to the park, like I was mentioning earlier, and I met "Floyd" and "Layla"... Floyd's a dog just like me, but still a little immature, and "Layla"--again, another Basset, she had a nice personality and wasn't too bad looking. We had a great time together! Our masters let us run around like and sniff in the woods---our TRUE calling!

I went for a ride, a L O N G one, up to Kansas City, last weekend.... BORING!! Doesn't she know I want to sit on her lap and help her drive? She complained that I "whined" the whole time... I was just talking to her? I'm a talker, what can I say? I was trying to let her know that the view of the prairie whizzing by got a little tedious and that I desperately needed her attention---not a seatbelt harnessing me in the backseat??? Oh well. We made it up okay, and then we visited her parents. They're nice and gave me TREATS!! I played with their dog, Maddie, but she's pretty tiny and has a little more energy than I do. That's okay, it had been awhile since we'd seen each other so it was nice to catch up. We chatted and shared amusements about our masters.

Xander, my brother, and I will be ONE in just a few short weeks!! Baroooooo!!! We get to hang out with each other on that day---June 1st! That's the best gift I could get... maybe I'll share one of my bones with him?

Later, Isaac!
