Kumiko is doing great! Learning more each day, and getting braver all the time. She loves to play and ruff it up. It is so great having her here. Bio: Kumiko was originally a show pick. We had decided to wait on getting a pup, when we got the call that Kumiko would be available as a pet. It turned out that she had a reverse scissor bite, and would not be able to be shown or bred. So now that is one of my favorite traits about Kumiko. She is very very special to me and my family. We went to the breeders a few times over the coarse of two and a half weeks. We did this just to make sure she would be a good fit for us. We didn't really know until the very day we took her home if she was going to be the right one. We never regret getting her and waiting for just the right dog. Forums Motto: Hmm, is that chicken? Can I have it? Things have been crazy crazy around here lately and yet boring at the same time. Mom has not been doing well lately, so I have been staying out of her way. She has been cranky and way too energetic at the same time. With all that has happened lately I didn't really want to help. So I have been pretty much doing my own thing. I don't like the food here. I don't know why mom won't get me the food I like. She said something about it being out of state, but I don't know what that means. I am guess that means it is too far away to get. I don't know. This place is weird. I ran out of my bully stick stash. So mom tried to get some more, but they are the yummy soft kind that I can eat all in one sitting! But mom keeps taking them away after like five minutes telling me I will get a tummy ache if I eat it all like that. Grrr....She needs to find the other kind then! Sheesh!
I had a weird cough that was so annoying about a week ago or so. Mom said she was worried that it was from that nasty black dog that attacked me not once but twice in the dog park. What a meany! So mom called a new vet (that is what she calls it). A few days later, we went into this weird building. It was all dark and smelled like lots of dogs. I couldn't help but sniff around. We went into this little room. Some lady that was really nice tried to feed me some horrible sort of lump that she called a "treat"! Bleck! What was she thinking! I don't like that stuff. Mom said it was beef liver. Not good. I left it there and tried to push it out of the way with my nose. I didn't want it touching my paws. Mom kept telling me to sit still so she could fill out the paper work. But there was so much to smell there! Plus, what does she expect when she doesn't bring my any treats? Seriously.
After a while, this other lady comes in. She talks a little different than mom. Mom told me later that she has a cool Aussie accent. Anyway, the lady was pretty nice. She too tried to feed me that horrible "treat" on the floor. Bleck! No way! The lady starts talking to mom about me, I know because I heard my name a few times. I started to get really fidgety because I had to potty really bad. I started to pace a bit. Mom wasn't paying attention, so I started to stare at her. That usually works, but not this time. Time for drastic measures! I started whining AND pacing. Finally mom notices, and tells me to Sit Down! Grrr! So I get up and do it more. Then mom realizes what I am doing and tells the lady she needs to take me out to potty. We run out the door, but there is no grass in sight! I hate to potty on dirt. It gets into my pads, and feels yucky, but sometimes there is no other choice I guess. It took a bit to find a perfect spot, but then I finally went. Wow, I sure felt better after that.
We went back into the building and back into the room. The lady was still there. So they start talking some more. I start trying to move the yucky "treats" out of the way because it was in my path. The lady thought it was funny. I just didn't want it around my space! Then mom picks me up and puts me on this table. I hate being off the ground. I start trying to climb up mom, but she kept putting me back on the table. She is really not getting the hint today, is she!? The lady starts feeling me all over. So rude! Then she grabs my back legs and trying to stretch them out. So not cool! She said something about having a loose knee, I don't have loose anything. I should show her my teeth so she can see she is wrong. Mom says that's not nice though. Mom tells me to calm down, but how can I be calm with this lady feeling me all over. And there are no treats! The good kind I like.
Then the lady starts to open my mouth. Not cool at all! I keep trying to back up and get away, but there isn't much room to go anywhere here. Mom offers to help. Mom knows how to do it better. The lady was bothering me. I held a little more still for mom, but it was hard. I don't like things in my mouth like that. They mention something about acupuncture points after that. The lady says I am well balanced. Mom was happy about that. Of course I am well balanced, I am a Shiba! The lady says I am in good shape. Must be all the chasing after those little people in the house all the time and those great runs around the field by the house. Then the lady starts to feel my throat! Grrr, not fun. She said she was trying to MAKE me cough. She pressed on my throat and I coughed just a little. So they said there was no damage which is really good I guess.
They get to talking more, and I am still on the table. Then another lady comes in with a weird looking tool. She told me it was a Scope for my ears. Grrr! Not the ears! Then she starts trying to shove that thing into my ears. I am really mad and trying to get away now! Mom is trying to hold me, but I am fighting it. Then they ask the other girl to come and hold my bottom down. Sheesh, now I don't have anyway to stand up! I hold still for a second and the lady says it is all clean. Then they flip me around to the other side. They try it again, but now I know their game, and have figured out how to get around it. Mom asked them all to back off for a second. Mom looks at me and says very sternly "Kumiko, that's enough! It will just take a second, but you need to calm down." Then she holds me again and tells me to calm down and wait. This time I tried to hold still. They got the scope into that ear, and said I was done! Yay! I am so glad. The put me down and give me lots of loves. I would rather have treats though.
Then we all sit down again, and there is more talking. They seem to have decided on something or another and we get packed up to go again. In the lobby area there is a jar. Mom looked inside. Yes! They had been storing all the GOOD treats out there! So mom grabbed a lot and gave me like 3 cookies. It was so yummy. We got a bag of stuff and went outside. Out there mom and I waited for the rest of the family to come back to get us. Mom gave me more cookies. Then the car pulled up and I got to relax in my crate. I was glad it was over.
Since then, I have been having to take some weird stuff. I get lots of yummy hotdogs for it though, so that's good. Mom says it is for my allergies and cough. I haven't been to a dog park in over a week. I am so bored. Mom says it is because of my cough, but I haven't had a cough in days. So lame. Then she goes and gives me THREE baths this week! So very not cool! I hate baths. I tried to tell her that through the whole thing, but she just didn't get it! Grrrr. I made sure she won't forget it though. I hate to be like that but she really forced it on me. She knows I don't like it. She said something about my being all itchy, then I got all sticky from the kids, then I can't even remember what the excuse was for the third one. Not cool. Luckily no baths so far today.
Mom said she contacted our friend Ollie's mom about help with it all. She must have gotten some good advice because today mom heated up some yummy hotdog bits, and took me into the bathroom with it, and there was cheese too. She just fed me treats for being in there. Then she lined up treats on the tub like she used to with the horrible grates on the ground back at our old house. I knew that meant it was something safe mom wanted me to try. So I ate the treats. Then she threw a bunch of treats inside the tub. I didn't want to go in there though. So mom gave me more treats. But then she picked me up and put me inside the tub. I ate all the treats in there and on the side, and then mom said I did a really good job and I jumped out! I got lots of praise and the rest of the treats. I hope we do this more because I like it better this way. I like treats. Mom says we are going to do that like 3 times a day now. We will see if she remembers. BOL!
Well I need to take a nap now. Oh, mom got a package this morning at the door. She opened it up and you'll never guess what was in it! The food I like! Yay! There were a few new kinds in there too, but we will see how those go. Mom must have found a way to get it for me. She said it is worth it to get me eating good again. I agree. We will see how it goes though. I will let you all know. Ok nap time! Bye!
