Mommy noticed a firm solid suspicious lump the size of a large marble on my elbow. It’s not attached to the bone, just the skin. Mommy took me into the vet for my vaccinations a couple months ago, and she decided to have them check it out. They were concerned and tried a fine needle aspiration to get cells out of it; unfortunately, it was a solid mass so they couldn't get cells. With growing concern that this could be a malignant mass, they told my mommy that the best decision would be to have it removed through surgery and then have it sent to a lab for biopsy. Mommy has been so worried. My family has been keeping an eye on me for the last couple months. They think that now, the best decision truly might be surgery. They are curious to know if the mass is cancerous. They will be making the appointment to have it removed within the next few days. The results of the biopsy should be here 2 weeks after surgery. I will keep everyone updated on what’s going on. Mommy is praying I don’t have cancer. It’s a scary thought! I am her baby and she loves me. I hope I don’t have cancer as well :(
Mommy came home from school and I was shaking really bad! She woke up her dad and they tried to figure out what was wrong with me. They found a lump on my back near my spine and I would shake every time they touched it. They thought that was the problem and feared the worst (tumor? Cyst??). They called the vet and she said to come in right away. So, the vet examined my back and was able to pull and push on that lump without me doing shaking or even wincing. She said that was not the problem. As she examined the rest of my body, she lifted up my front paw and said "ooh I know what the problem is" and she said my dew claw was hanging on by the quick (blood vessel in the nail), the quick was very exposed, but it was not broken so there was no blood, but boy was I in a LOT of pain. The vet said the best option was to sedate me and remove my whole dew claw. They took me away from mommy and put me in the back surgery room and that was the last I remember. Next thing I know, I wake up and I'm in this cage with a blanket. Later after I woke up, they took me out of the cage and out into the waiting room. There was mommy and her dad. I was SO happy to see them. Now I'm home resting and hoping that my dew claw heals quickly.
