My new twin :)

The other day I made a new friend, and realized he kinda looks like me, so we decided to call eachother twins! His name is Checkers and he's a Border Collie/Aussie mix, which makes him quite a bit taller than me, considering my short Basset legs, hehe. :) Please visit his page:

Why am I the cutest?

This is for Sandy's contest in Plus Fun.

Mom says I'm adorable. I have the long, sturdy body of a Basset Hound and the fluff and energy or a Border Collie. Mom says I have the most soulful eyes that can melt anyone's heart. She says my little black freckles are adorable, too. But what Mom says describes me the best, is my smile. She says she's never seen a dog with such an intense and sincere smile. She says it's unique and special, and that's what made her fall in love with me the first time she saw me.

You are a rescue. Tell us how you came to your furever home?
Mom moved from an apartment to a house back in January this year, and she had been planning on adopting a dog. She started searching online for adoptable dogs in our city since November/December 2008. That's when she came across my online profile. :D She fell in love with my pictures, and the description my foster Mom had put up sounded perfect, exactly what Mom had always wanted in a dog. She sent them an e-mail with her telephone number and information, saying she was interested in meeting me someday. Since I was one of the first pups she saw, she kept searching, in case I wasn't available anymore, but she couldn't find any other one she wanted as badly as me. Two weeks later she got a call from my foster mom, and she couldn't have been happier! She met me on the next weekend. The house I was in had around 8 other dogs, but I was the only one to come greet her at the door! She just knew I was perfect for her. She had promised herself she'd only take me in when she moved to her new house, but she couldn't help herself. One week later I was living with Mom, lol. :]

You live in Brazil. How did you learn about Dogster? What do you like best about Dogster?
Wow, you guys would never believe this story, but it's true. :))! Mom was walking with her dad in the street, and they passed by a stray dog. Mom's dad randomly started calling the dog "Come, Dogster! Here, Dogster!". :)) When Mom got home that day she decided to Google the word "dogster" and see if it actually meant something. Well, it did. :))! And what do I like best about Dogster? My wonderful friends, of course. :D Some of you know that Mom went some rough times last year, and I can honestly say that my Dogster friends (especially the Plus Fun pups!) have helped her more than anyone, and I'm being very truthful about that. She is forever thankful. |:|

Tell us a little about Brazil. It is a beautiful country. We all hear about the Amazon River on Public TV. Have you ever gone down there?
We have never been to the Amazon River. It's really far from where we live. We live in Porto Alegre, which is in the southernmost state in the country. The Amazon River is in the very north, and as you all know, Brazil's a pretty big country. :)) When Mom was little, though, she went by car with her parents all the way to the north, all the way traveling by the coast. The brazilian coast is absolutely lovely, especially if you know where to go. We have a wonderful nature. Brazil isn't only pretty stuff, though. We have a lot of crime and poverty, too. It's a very developed and urban country in some parts, but not in others. We're lucky to live in one of the most developed areas in the country so we don't suffer with most of our social problems. Mom can't wait to get out of here and live in US or Canada, though. :))

What games do you play?
Ohh, fetch! :D Or more like a "catch the ball and run away from Mom with the ball" sort of game.

You have a kitty sis. Do you get along with her?
Oh, I love Cherry! I play with her as if she were a dog. Or a small dog, for that matter. I love chasing small animals, and that includes Cherry. :)) She slaps my face, but I'm pretty sure it's just a way to show love.:c9

Tell us about a special incident in your life.
Before Mom adopted me, I was found my this nice young lady who was my foster mom. She found me in the street, being hit. She took me away from the men who was hitting me (who was supposedly my previous owner, can you belive it?) and adopted me temporarily. She found out I was expecting babies. I had 8 puppies, but unfortunetly only one lived. :( She had me spayed before putting me up for adoption. Mom will never understand how can some people in this world be so heartless as to hit an innocent pup like me to the point of killing my unborn puppies. :( She'll also never understand the fact of after all I've been through in my life, I haven't lost the joy of life! I love and trust people more than anything and haven't lost hope that there are still good people out there. I'm so happy that Mom found me and not some other creep! I'm still a little scared sometimes, though. Like if someone makes a fast movement, or if Mom just gives me a slight slap on the snout, I whine and put my tail in between my legs.

7. When is your Birthday? We don't know. Mom adopted me as an adult. My gotcha day, though, is on December 11th 2008. We are going to consider that my birthday. The vet thinks I'm around two years old.

8. How many times a day do you get to eat? Mom gives me my daily portion of food at 1 PM. It usually lasts the whole day.

9. Do you have a favorite color? Not really, no.

10. Do you hope all your pals put this in their diary? Yes, definetly. :D

I'M HOME!

Heey,

Today Mom, her Mom and her Dad drove to my foster home to pick me up at around 10 am today. I was so excited to see them again!

So I got in the car (after a little effort, I didn't really enjoy getting in the car). We started riding along and Dad said we'd stop by a place for me to walk and have fun, full of trees and stuff.

Problem: it turns out I have motion sickness. After like 15 minutes in the car I threw up. Turns out my foster family would be feed me GARBAGE. Well not garbage, but food left overs. They had given me spaghetti and apple. o.O
Mom's Mom and Dad cleaned up the car. They obviously weren't mad at me. They were mad at my foster mom.

We got to that place. It was fun and I could run around and go potty a lot. 8D

On the way back, I felt sick two more times. Mom and Dad cleaned up the car again. We talked to my new vet, and he gave me some remedies for car sickness, because we're traveling tomorrow. He also said not to feed me today. I'll be fine until tomorrow. :3

My arrival at home: well, I'm sure some of you must know I now have a kitty sister, Miss Cherry. Well, my arrival was hilarious! Mom opened the door and Cherry was there, behind the door, as usual. When she caught a glimpse of me, her back turned up and her fur was all fuzzy, and she was growling and hissing at me. I was wagging my tail. I totally ignored her as she watched me from a safe distance of at least 4 feet. She eventually figured I wasn't a thread. So she became curious, instead of angry. As I was laying down, she come up from behind me and try to sniff me. Mom laughed. xD We've been getting along pretty well. We basically ignore eachother. I'm still scared of her, actually, but we'll be fine.

I've been sleeping a lot, I've had a long day. Mom took tons of pictures and will try posting them ASAP.

Tomorrow we're going to the beach, which is awesome! Mom says I'll have lots of fun. Next week I also get to meet Mom's friend Camila, and Mom's grandparents. I can't wait!

We'll keep you updated as my first days with my family go on. I just love it that, after such a hard beggining at life, and after one year in fostser care, I am finally somewhere I can really call "Forever Home".

It's coming, it's coming!

Yes, it's coming!

The day I finally come live with my family is coming! Only nine days! :D

On the 11th Mom picks me up, and then I'll finally have a furever home!

Okay, this is Lauren, Skye's Mom, speaking, to make things easier.

Some of you may know I was gonna get my Math grades this morning, and that, if I passed, I'd go to the beach (with Skye) on December 12th.
It turned out I didn't pass [insert lots of desperate crying here] . I have a recuperation test on December 15th.
We're still going to the beach on the 12th, but I have to come back home on the 14th to take the test the next day. That's good.
But, I won't use the computer during this time I have to study. And after the test, I go right back to the beach and come back only sometime during the month of January.
Basically, I'm leaving from today until January, so this is goodbye.

I really, really need good luck wishes. Who knows what will happen if I don't pass the recuperation test, and that won't be an easy task [insert lots of desperate studying here].

We'll miss you guys. Wish me luck.

I think I'm going to the beach! :D

Mommy just had the best idea EVER.

On December 12th, she's going to her beach house with her Mom and her Dad, and my future kitty sister Miss Cherry. She had the brilliant idea of taking me along!

She just needs to call my foster Mommy to be sure.

They'll pick me up from my foster home on the 11th and we'd leave on the 12th. I'd spend Christmas with them at the beach and everything!! Mommy says I'll get to play in the waves and dig in the sand. I'll also get to meet Mommy's grandparents and their kitty. I love kitties!

It's too bad I'll have to go back to my foster family after that. I won't be able to live in my furever home before January.

I can't wait!! Come on, 18 days to go! :D
